This study was carried out, through a total of 271 scuba dives, from 2017 to the beginning of 2020 in four sites located along the Ionian coasts of Sicily: Catania, Aci Trezza, Santa Maria La Scala and Santa Tecla. Through a photographic data collection, 95 taxa, representing 17.27% of all Mediterranean marine Heterobranchia, were reported. The order with the highest number of found species was that of Nudibranchia. Among the study areas, Catania, Santa Maria La Scala and Santa Tecla had not a remarkable difference in the number of species, while Aci Trezza had the lowest number of species. Moreover, among the 95 taxa, four species considered rare and six non-indigenous species have been recorded. Since the presence of a high diversity of sea slugs in a relatively small area, the central-eastern coast of Sicily could be considered a zone of high biodiversity for the marine Heterobranchia fauna. Yonow. Abstract. This is the final report describing the heterobranch molluscs collected by the Rumphius Bio historical Expedition to Ambon during November and December 1990. This part deals with the non‑nudibranch higher clades (Cephalaspidea, Anaspidea, Sacoglossa, and Pleurobranchida). Forty‑one species belonging to 21 genera are identified from Ambon and nearby localities in the central Indonesian archipelago; 2 species are new to science, and 3 species are new records for Indonesia. The new species Haminoea edmundsi is described from the mangroves near Paso in Ambon Bay, and the new species Mourgona anisti is described from Latuhalat, also Ambon. A discussion and table of all named species of Plakobranchus are provided, and the original descriptions and museum specimens from other localities are compared in an effort to clarify some of the problems surrounding these species. Chelidonura sandrana Rudman, 1973 and C. babai Gosliner, 1988 are synonymised with C. tsurugensis Baba & Abe, 1959. Recent corrections of names and/or dates of publication are highlighted: Phanerophthalmus olivaceus (Ehrenberg, 1828), Aplysia argus Rüppell & Leuckart, 1830, Dolabella auricularia ([Lightfoot], 1786), Elysia faustula Bergh, 1871, Cyerce elegans Bergh, 1870, Euselenops luniceps (Cuvier, 1816), and Pleurobranchus peronii Cuvier, 1804. -

Cattaneo- Vietti and M. Edmunds ABSTRACT A new species of notaspidean, Pleurobranchus garciagomezi, is described from Ilha do Sal, Cape Verde Archipelago off the coast of West Africa. The color of the mantle with its conspicuous opaque white network, the shape of the shell and the anatomy of the reproductive system distinguish this species from all other Atlantic Pleurobranchus. A color plate of P. garciagomezi together with two other species of the genus is given to illustrate the distinc- tiveness of this species. The first records of opisthobranch mollusks from the Cape Verde Archipelago were those of Rochebrune (1881, 1882) and Eliot (1906). More recently, knowl- edge of the opisthobranch fauna of this archipelago has increased as a result of material collected during the First Iberian Expedition to the Cape Verde Islands in 1985 (Ortea and Garcfa-G6mez, 1986; Ortea, 1988, 1989a, 1989b; Ortea and Rolan, 1989; Avila et al., 1992). However, few data are available regarding the notaspideans from these islands or from elsewhere in the eastern Atlantic. Species of this order are not as well known in the eastern Atlantic as they are from the western Atlantic (Marcus, 1984). From the Cape Verde Islands, Rochebrune (1881) recorded Berthella stellata (Risso, 1826). BerthelUna edwardsi (Vayssiere, 1896) was probably also de- scribed, in part, from material from Cape Verde (White, 1955). Haefelfinger and Kress (1970) reported Pleurobranchaea meckelii (Blainville, 1825) and an un- certain species of Berthellina. -

Pleurobranchus wirtzi is a species only distributed in Ca - nary islands, Madeira and Azores (Atlantic Ocean). Nowadays, it is still not known if this species is really taxonomically distinct from P. garciagomezi Cervera, Cattaneo-Vietti et Ed - munds, 1996. However, the specimen found in Sicily is undoubtedly a non-native species in the Mediterranean Sea and therefore its possible naturalization could have negative effects on the indigenous marine ecosystem. In this work, we talk about the possible pattern of in - troduction in the Mediterranean Sea of this species and its questionable systematic status. Abstract Background: The Euthyneura are considered to be the most successful and diverse group of Gastropoda. Phylogenetically, they are riven with controversy. Previous morphology-based phylogenetic studies have been greatly hampered by rampant parallelism in morphological characters or by incomplete taxon sampling. Based on sequences of nuclear 18S rRNA and 28S rRNA as well as mitochondrial 16S rRNA and COI DNA from 56 taxa, we reconstructed the phylogeny of Euthyneura utilising Maximum Likelihood and Bayesian inference methods. -

Until now, only 19 species of heterobranch sea slugs have been formally reported from this area; this number constitutes a fraction of total diversity in the Caribbean region. Results: Based on newly conducted fieldwork, we increase the number of recorded heterobranch sea slug species in Bocas del Toro to 82. Descriptive information for each species is provided, including taxonomic and/or ecological notes for most taxa. The collecting effort is also described and compared with that of other field expeditions in the Caribbean and the tropical Eastern Pacific. Conclusions: This increase in known diversity strongly suggests that the distribution of species within the Caribbean is still poorly known and species ranges may need to be modified as more surveys are conducted.
