Farley [email protected] | (716)-908-7731 Theatrical Technician and Designer Education University at Buffalo – BFA Theatre Design and Technology – 2018 Anticipated Graduation Selected Experience Assistant to the Technical Director – Neglia Ballet Artists: The Nutcracker – Shea’s Performing Arts Center – November 2015 – Present Assist the Technical Director during pre-production, load in, run of the show, load out, and moving of company scenery. Also present to take notes in meetings with company directors and designers regarding potential future rebuild of the show. Student Technical Director – A Midsummer Night’s Dream – Fall 2016 Provided full cost analysis, 3D AutoCAD working drawings of the major scenic unit, and did a full safety walkthrough with cast and crew. Trained crew on how to move units and correctly and safely, including fly rail training when necessary. Built scenery so that it was able to be moved into stock after the show closed. Aerial Rigger – Zodiaque Dance Company – University at Buffalo Drama Theatre – Fall 2016 Rigger for aerial piece in department dance concert. Worked with mentors to create a rig checklist in order to inspect the rig on every occasion that performers were on the fabrics, and collaborated with stage management to implement and rehearse emergency retrieval plan in case of a catastrophic event during a performance. Was present backstage at all rehearsals and performances to ensure performer safety. Apprentice Carpenter – Brevard Music Center – May 23, 2016- August 5, 2016 Work as carpenter for three opera productions, and provide technical support for orchestra concerts as needed. Worked on honing carpentry skills, and was afforded the opportunity to learn to weld by working extensively with the welder on various scenic elements, including a large structural tree for the operatic production of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” Student Production Assistant – University at Buffalo Center for the Arts – September 2015- Present Work alongside professional staff and touring technicians to put on various types of performances, including an opportunity to work as the student master electrician for “Fall Fest,” a UB Student Association concert held in UB’s Alumni Arena and attended by 6,000+ patrons. Was able to work alongside representatives from Flying by Foy on the implementation and use of their rig for a production of “The Nutcracker.” Founding President – University at Buffalo Student Chapter of USITT – November 2015- Present Elected by fellow students to submit charter application, which involved rallying peers and writing a set of by-laws. Activities of the chapter have included visiting the tech rehearsal of a nationally touring production, and visiting the JR Clancy headquarters.
