Vettel has led 209 of the past 213 racing laps. Vettel’s win gives him a mathematical chance to seal championship in Japan. Renaultpowered drivers locked out the podium in today’s Korean Grand Prix, with Sebastian Vettel (Infiniti Red Bull Racing) winning the chaotic race from Lotus F1 Team’s Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean. The perfect podium result is the third time this season that the podium has been 100% Renaultpowered.* Vettel – whose pole position yesterday took Renault’s total of F1 poles to 208, equal with Ferrari’s record – opened up a comfortable lead at the start ahead of Grosjean, who had jumped ahead of Hamilton on the first corner. The pair built up a cushion of several seconds over the battles behind and were able to pit and rejoin in formation. Vettel remained in front despite two different safety cars but Raikkonen got the jump on Grosjean before the second safety car period. The Finn had a standout race from P9 on the grid, overtaking Rosberg, Hamilton, Alonso, Hulkenberg and finally his teammate to score his second consecutive podium. Mark Webber started from P13 as a result of a grid penalty but quickly found himself into the top ten racing with Alonso and Raikkonen.

  • 70Th Victory for Team ABT Sportsline in the DTM
ABT Sportsline 2021 – Press Release Week 33 70th victory for Team ABT Sportsline in the DTM Kelvin van der Linde has given Team ABT Sportsline its 70th victory in the DTM. Following his victories at Monza and Zolder, the championship leader also won Saturday’s race at the Nürburgring. After the first half of the season, the South African, who lives near Kempten, has a 33-point lead in the drivers’ championship. In the teams’ championship, ABT Sportsline is also at the top of the table after the first half of the 2021 DTM season. Saturday was a picture-perfect day for ABT Sportsline: Kelvin van der Linde secured pole position for the third time this season with a perfect qualifying lap and then celebrated a commanding victory. On the way, he only had to shake twice when late stoppers Timo Glock and Alex Albon put up a massive fight against the ABT driver. The South African stayed cool, grabbed the two opponents and, after crossing the finish line, ordered an ice cream from SAT.1 commentator Eddy Mielke, which was promptly served to him by colleague Andrea Kaiser at the podium ceremony. Walter Kolb accepted the trophy for the winning team. The 73-year-old pensioner from Isny had auctioned a seat at the pit stand of ABT Sportsline for the race at the Nürburgring by donating 6,000 Euros for the victims of the flood disaster in the region. The DTM was the first race event after the flood at the Nürburgring. Before the start of the race, children affected by the flood had visited the ABT Sportsline pit and were even allowed to hold the steering wheel of the eventual winning car in their hands before the race.

For more than 115 years Renault has embraced the challenge of motorsport in multiple guises. It recognised the value of competitive activities for technical and commercial gain: in December 1898 Louis Renault drove the Type A Voiturette up the steepest street in Paris, the rue Lepic. The first orders for the ground-breaking car with direct drive flooded in. In 1902 the nimble, lightweight Type K, fitted with Renault’s first 4-cylinder engine, took victory in the Paris-Vienna rally. Again, many more cars were sold. Going through the years, in 1977 Renault introduced the first-ever turbocharged car to F1.

  • The History of Winter Cup: the Karting Talents Show Since 1996
SOUTH GARDA KARTING - LONATO DEL GARDA (BRESCIA), ITALY THE HISTORY OF WINTER CUP: THE KARTING TALENTS SHOW SINCE 1996 The Winter Cup to be held next 19-22 February 2015 at South Garda Karting of Lonato del Garda (Brescia, Italy) celebrates its 20th edition, an important event that recalls the history of this race and of International Karting of the past 20 years. This edition has been enriched by the validity as first round of the International Trophy Bridgestone Supercup. The Winter Cup got birth back in 1996 on the stunning circuit of Lonato del Garda by the will of the building Surveyor Angelo Corberi, who designed and funded the racetrack built in 1988 that has housed the most important national and international events since, including CIK-FIA World and European Championships. The first appointment with the Winter Cup 1996, race that up to that point had the denomination of Italy Cup, was a consequence of the agreement with the most important Outfits of the time to run an international race following CIK regulations on this track, ahead of the FSA and FA World Championship scheduled in Lonato on the 15th of September of the same year. From the following year, the Winter Cup has been the traditional opening to the sporting season and this status of first important race of the year has soon made it a very sought after and important event for all constructors fielding their works teams and for the strongest teams that take this occasion as a first chance for a real technical and sporting comparison with rivals.
