Very grateful to Empire Salon and their staff. I have always had timely and quality service. They can accommodate most schedules and the atmosphere is upbeat and fun. There isn't anything they cannot do and are well-versed in everything 'hair'. Brazilian, extentions, color (classic brunette to purple), cuts, suggestions and styling... all in their expertise etc. Will was great and I have had great success with Jeanette too. Just moved to Irvine recently and I will continue to make Empire my 'hair home'.

Janette (or "Dang" as they call her) is amazing and extremely attentive. She is very personable and professional. I am a first time balayager and Janette exceeded my expectations. I'm in love with my new do. She also gave me an amazing cut. I am a low maintenance gal and very undecided when it comes to my hair; and Janette gave me great suggestions. I highly recommend her to EVERYONE.

Yesterday was my first visit to Empire Salon. From the minute I walked into the salon, I was treated like a queen. I was fortunate to get Kate as my stylist. She was so nice and gave me the best assessment on how I could move forward with fixing an uneven haircut I recently received from another beauty shop. Kate is very knowledgeable and uses the right technique to make hair look again! Thank you, thank you, thank you! In addition to water, tea and coffee, red and white wine is offered as a beverage while visiting the salon. Let me just say . . . the red wine was fabulous!!! ;-)

I had a great experience at empire salon, but my poor sister did NOT. She wanted something similar to what I got done, but came out with something completely different. I got balayage, and my hair looks naturally sunkissed-exactly what I wanted. My sister wanted something similar-sun kissed, with her roots untouched. She came out with streaky highlights-starting at her roots when she specifically said she wanted her roots left UNTOUCHED. When we came back home she was so upset that she had to call back and get it fixed. They told her that one of the owners who is a "style/color expert" would fix her hair. She went back the next day, which was today, and was treated horribly. The "style/color expert" was very rude within the first couple minutes we met her. I then left and when I came back to pick my sister up from her appointment she was in tears and her hair was destroyed. She tried "fixing" her hair by dying her roots brown-which was not close to her natural color at all, and throwing bleach on the back of her head. When my mom and I were in the back of the salon trying to comfort my sister and talk her through everything the "style/color expert" kept rolling her eyes. I'm not a "customer service expert" but if your client is in tears and very upset about their hair I don't think you should sit there and roll your eyes. Very disrespectful, and will never EVER return. Definetely a waste of money.

I am usually happy with my experience at Empire Salon but this time was an exception, I asked for a haircut and highlight. My hair looks shorter but I still have a lot f deadends, I definitely need another haircut, and my highlight does not look what I was imagining. I asked for no red tones but everybody tells me that it looks kinda red, he had to do it twice and because of that I was in the salon for 4 hours which was kindof exhusting! And and at the end it was not what I asked for. It costed me alot of money but i have to do the haircut and highlight again..

I always hated haircuts. The only time I ever got a haircut was when I was forced to get one. However, I am an adult now (at least that is what my Driver's License says) so I decided to let my hair grow out. Unfortunately, my hair rebelled against me and needed to be tamed. I booked an appointment at Empire Salon because a friend of mine works there. The experience was super pleasant. The environment was friendly, the people were super kind, and the hairstylist that took care of me was super passionate about giving me the perfect hairstyle. I went from looking like Moe from the three stooges to Clark Kent.

Only down side was having my appointment near the lunch hour on a weekday. Save yourself from circling the lot searching for a space and just park in the garage. 1st two hours in the garage are free.

Made a last minute appointment on 1/20/16 and Empire Salon was able to take me in last minute! They set me up for an appointment with Rachel Bennett. I came in with the intention of cutting my hair short (which has been long most of my life). I was hesitant about the whole process because it's a big change and she made me feel comfortable immediately. She sat me down and went over my options to try to better understand what look I wanted. The haircut and color turned out perfect and I love my hair! I would absolutely recommend Rachel and this salon. Their stylists seem very knowledgeable and experienced!

Kate cut my hair about two weeks ago. I had read several positive reviews about her prior to my visit. When I scheduled my appointment I asked the receptionist if I should schedule with a master stylist since I have thick hair and wanted long layers. The receptionist told me that all stylists at the salon can handle any type of hair and so I went with Kate, a junior stylist. Kate was very friendly. I brought in two pictures with pretty much the same cut, one a shorter version and the second one at a length a bit past the shoulder. Both pictures showed long layers that were styled out of the face and my hair was exactly the length of the shorter version. I had grown out my hair for 5 month from a mid-length bob and came in with shoulder-length hair that had no layers. I told Kate that I wanted to grow my hair a little more and wanted long layers so it would be easier to manage. I told her multiple times that I don't want short layers. I had a similar cut before with long layers and bouncy ends that used to flip up naturally on the back. It worked great and didn't require much work to style. It's also a very common style that I see on lots of women. At first I couldn't really tell how the layers looked since my hair is wavier when wet. I got a bit suspicious when she was styling it with a large round brush since she took forever. Instead of letting the ends flip like on both pictures she tugged the ends under and the sides were also curled. Couldn't really tell too much about the cut when I left due to the excessive styling. Long story short. 3 days after the cut I washed my hair and tried to style it. That's when I noticed how messed up the cut was. The layers are about two inches shorter on the right side. She also thinned out my hair way too much on the right . All the layers are square and you can see the lines where the layers end all around, like a bowl cut. The layers on the right side are just below the ear. So much for long layers! I can't even make a ponytail with these short pieces. The back is also nothing like on the pictures, again with these short, square layers. I'm so frustrated about this horrible cut. I scheduled an appointment with my current hair dresser to try to have it cut into a bob again. It will be hard because of these horrible short layers. It will take at least 6-8 months to grow out these weird layers and I will have to go with a short bob. Very annoying! I don't understand why the stylists are not required to go to hair conventions to keep up with new trends and improve their skills! I will only try another stylist when recommended by a friend. Normally, I would agree that certain styles are unachievable given hair length, texture, etc. In this case, however, none of those factors were in play. I saw Olivia right before 4th of July. I was currently studying for the bar exam and hadn't been going out much, but with family and friends coming into town for the 4th, I wanted my hair done. I have basic blonde hair. My hair lady usually does bleach highlights and tones and its good to go. Well when I left the salon that day, I still had full on dark roots. I was in disbelief and even my fiancé who usually has no opinion on my hair couldn't believe it when I told him I had just gotten in it done. I immediately called the salon and the receptionist said she couldn't fit me in again until the following Tuesday (4th of July was Saturday). I explained that this would not work and asked for Olivia. When Olivia got on the phone I explained to her the situation and she said she could get me in the following day (Friday) with Kyle. At this time I was studying 12 hour days for the bar exam and didn't have another 2 hours to go sit at a salon but I needed my hair done. The following day i explained to Kyle my displeasure with my hair and he said he would take care of it. Well when I left that day, I no longer had roots, however I had two visible colors of blonde. He did not match my roots to the color of blonde I had going, so though I no longer had dark roots, I now had a new color of blonde roots that didn't match my hair. Though I didn't have to pay Kyle again for the service, he explained to me that the tip I left Olivia went to Olivia ($24), so therefore, I left him another $20. So $164 later at Empire salon and I had horrible looking hair. For 4th of July I had to load my roots with blonde dry shampoo to try to mask the mistake. THis was a very unfortunate experience for me because I live walking distance to the salon and was really excited to have a beautiful salon so close to home. I just don't understand what happened here, as I do not have complicated hair.

I scheduled my appointment the week prior and the receptionist was extremely friendly and helpful. I told her what I was looking to do and asked her which stylist would be best for me. I got an early and convenient date! Coming into my appointment, Marissa made sure I was comfortable. She also asked questions and clarified what I wanted to do. Olivia is amazing! I've been going to her for about 2 years now. I'm always offered a smock and something to drink just as the experience begins. The receptionist has been pleasant every time. I like the text & email confirmation that I get reminding me of my appointment 2 days before so I don't overbook the day or have enough time to adjust. The wash station is my favorite. It feels like all my problems for the last month are washed away with the massage. Olivia is a great conversationalist and bright so the time flies by while I'm setting in her chair.

The salon itself is and clean and organized, it's my haircut and color I am very unhappy with. My stylist was Janette and it was my first time getting my hair done by her. I chose her based on the few good reviews she had on Yelp. I'm pretty laid back about my hair and was open to suggestions from her. She didn't really give me any feedback which was fine so I showed her a photo of a medium-length blunt cut I've been meaning to try. I also stressed to her I want a natural color with a subtle ombré so she suggested balayage (spelling?) and that my hair would look sun-kissed. Sounded good to me so I went with it. I also asked her how long it would take since I am nursing my 8 month old exclusively and I'm short on time and she said 2 hrs and 15 mins. That sounded fine too. When she got to cutting my hair I noticed she chopped quite a bit off. Looked like 5 inches or so. I stopped her and asked how short is she cutting my hair and she said it's still a good length. So I went with it...Almost 4.5 hrs later I walk out of the salon with everything I don't want for my hair: super short (maybe .5" below my shoulder) and almost blond highlights at my ends. Definitely doesn't look sun-kissed as she described. I know Janette didn't truly listen to me and what I wanted because she kept asking me the same questions more than twice. I caught that within the first 10 minutes of coversing with her and should've taken that as a red flag. Now I'm out $230 ($200 for cut and color and $30 for tip. I still tipped her almost 18% because I'm just like that). I've been to excellent salons in LA and in OC and chose this one since I decided I wanted a haircut asap and didn't want to wait weeks for my favorite stylists. This was by far the worst haircut and color I have every had. I will never go back to Janette again and others should be warned that she doesn't listen and will really mess your hair up. I also came home to a very distraught and hungry baby and felt so guilty for leaving him for that long (I have never been away from him for that long). I gave one star for the salon cleanliness.

This was my first visit. The salon itself is beautifully decorated and the staff is very professional. The receptionist welcomed me immediately and made me feel comfortable right away. As i waited I noticed the clents who were leaving had great relationships with their stylists, had been coming for a long time, and made regular appointments. Natalie cut my hair. We discussed my current style and what would work best for my current lifestyle (i just had a baby), what would grow out the best, and what would work well with my face shape. Every time I come to Empire Salon, I consider it a mini vacation. Eric has my hair under control, where I leave feeling I'm ready for the day. Bleu can give a head massage while she is shampooing my hair and makes a splitting headache disappears. Whoever is at the front desk makes you feel welcome and they were waiting for you. This salon is so welcoming and talented that is it well worth the drive.

Date of appointment: Jan. 15, 2015 This review is for Olivia. I went to Empire for the first time to redo an old ombre job that had gone down all the way to the bottom of my hair. I wanted the ombre higher and for it to blend into my background color nicely without showing any edges/lines. Olivia listened to all of my requests and answered all of my questions with a lot of patience (she is very nice), and she gave me an AMAZING haircut and color that are just what I had asked for. I have long curly color-treated hair that tends to frizz a lot but since my appointment with Olivia I have noticed less frizz despite it being bleached again! I was very nervous because I've never had a 100% satisfactory color experience with salons before, but Olivia is truly an artist and she has an understanding of hair that is the quality of a top hair stylist. I can't be any happier with my new hair! Thanks, Olivia!

I was actually kind of disappointed walking out of the salon. I felt like my hair didn't turn out how I wanted. I described I wanted an ombre going on my hair. Somehow I ended up with streaky-high lights at went up to my roots. I told her this wasn't what I had in mind and she fixed it, so the highlights started 1/4 down my hair. I wanted ombre, bayalage going on but what I got just looked like highlights to me. I got a cut and color. The cut to meI would say is okay, nothing special so I felt like it's just an average cut. It was $140 total and with paying that much, I thought I would have walked out feeling a lot more happy/excited about my hair. However I just felt like it was okay.. Olivia tried her best, however I wasn't happy after the first time seeing how I ended up with what looked like highlights. Even after her fixing it which took even longer, my end result to me was just okay. I don't know if I would come back again if this is my result.

She knows hair (like really knows hair)! I'm super impressed with her skills and techniques; she's the best stylist I've had. Outstanding service ! I walked in with dreads up to my shoulder, and new I had to say goodbye. I was referred to Amber who did an amazing job. She cut my dreads in half and comb out the other half with a comb. She salvaged so much of my hair I was able to leave with a short hairstyle cut. Everyone thought it was so pretty. I returned the next day and had hair extension put in and it blew everyone's mind. Amber is excellent with hair, friendly and absolutely Rocks!

I just dropped in on a weekday to have a haircut here because of good reviews in yelp and I must say the 4.5 stars for this place is well deserved. This was the first time and Marissa was my hair stylist. She is very friendly and professional. I really liked the bit of head massage after the hair-wash. I love the hair-cut.The length and style is perfect. Thank you Marissa. The price is more than reasonable for the service. I will definitely come back to this salon. I highly recommend this place.

I moved from the east coast NYC =) and had no idea where in California to go and have my major transformation. I have been growing out my hair into dreads for two years and I've decided to cut them off, the girls at the shop are so helpful and supportive. I just came in for a consultation to see what could be done to my hair for a new look. I felt right at home and so at ease about chopping my hair off which is a big deal for me. The consultation went great, I will be cutting off my dreads on Tuesday and Wednesday adding on hair extensions. I am rating my consultation experience right now will Amber was fantastic, she pulled out her work and spent her time discussing with me what the process would be like and what to expect. I am so excited and the experience has eased my anxiety, now i can't wait for Tuesday, and Wednesday to come.

Having tried a few salons in SoCal, I am extremely happy to have found Empire Salon. The staff is very friendly and professional and my hairstylist, Kate - is off the charts amazingly talented. Kate is wonderful with understanding the science of color and achieves great results.. She also cut my hair and blended my layers -- took the time to make sure I was totally satisfied with the finished product. It makes all the difference when you have a person with passion and creativity cutting / coloring and styling your hair! Also, parking is super easy at this location !!! Cheers!

Marissa is exceptional. Best hair job i've had. She listened to everything I wanted, and made my hair exactly how I wanted it to look. Not only that but she has amazing customer skills, and makes you feel very comfortable and at ease the whole time (no matter how long it takes on your hair- mine took almost 4 hours!). One thing that annoys me is having a surprise everytime I'm paying for the services. I think that the price of the services should be visually available for the clients. But the last to times that I've visited I had no surprise and the colorist was perfect in her service. She did exactly what I've asked and even more. I felt very pleased with her service.

Customer service and quality are beyond expectations. I have a lot of hair and it isn't always the easiest to work with. After one week of getting a beautiful red color, my hair just wouldn't take. I called the salon about a week after, explaining how the color has washed out and that I no longer had that beautiful red. Without hesitation my stylist, Jennifer, called me in for a fix, free of charge. Now, I have that awesome color back and new favorite salon.

I absolutely love Kyle. He did amazing the first time he cut my hair. But I waited to write a review until the second time (to check for consistency and mostly procrastination). Well... he just blew my mind the second time around. It's a shame that I have to wash it after a few days. Anyway, here are a few reasons to support my remarks: *Kyle offers me water, magazine etc. *It was heaven when he shampooed my hair. *He asks questions. He asked me where I part my hair, how I style my hair on a regular basis, how long or short do I want it etc. *He delivers AMAZING results. My hair looked fantastic when I left the salon and it looks great after washing (no styling needed, not even combing). I could write a lot more reasons but space is limited. Haircut was ok except the stylist seemed to rush at the end when another client waltzed up to announce she had returned. Did not clean up any hair that had falling into my face on my neck or ears just matted it down with some product and ran off. Even the receptionist didnt say a word. I feel stupid for leaving a tip as it was so not deserved. I only was told about all hair from my gf when I met up with her. It was the first thing she saw. Some of your staff are blind and obviously catering to ppl spending big $.

I had an appointment at 1:30 and I wasn't taken by the stylist Kate until 1:50. I had to wait 20 minutes and then I was in the chair for two hours. I went In for color and a cut. The cut is great. The color is another story. I had a lot of red, brassy tones that I really hate and wanted to color over them. Well Kate seemed to understand exactly what I wanted but the outcome was awful. My hair color didn't change it looked exactly the same!!!! I was very in pleased with my experience.

Every other salon I've gone to, I've felt pretty awkward and uncomfortable telling the stylist what I wanted. At Empire Salon, i made an appointment with Olivia and she was wonderful! She was easy to talk to and she was relatable. She was open to any questions I had and she made sure I was comfortable with the amount of hair she was cutting off. The receptionists were friendly and welcoming as well. Although this salon is a bit out of my price range, I'd say I would come back to get my hair cut the next time I need one.

I went to empire this afternoon for a mens haircut! I had janette cut my hair, scheduled with an appointment. It was my first time, and since they had amazing reviews on yelp, I had to go. The cut turned out amazing, she was super friendly, down to earth, and just made me feel comfortable to be at her station. This salon is very trendy, and even OPEN on mondays! I hadn't left a review before, since it takes me a while to figure out if I like a place or not. My first two visits were to Jeanette for basic hair color. Everything was fine. My last visit I asked for some lightening, which is a bit more tricky. But Jeanette did a fantastic job. I wanted something very subtle and it came out perfectly. Price was good (I've paid much more for the same things.) So now I feel like I can actually give Empire and Jeanette a 5 star review.

Overall a really good experience. Olivia was my stylist and I absolutely loved what she did to my hair. She was very nice and friendly and the color turned out beautifully. The only complaint I had was that the blonde receptionist was a little frantic and seemed overwhelmed. Also, and I don't mean to be rude, but she smelt like she had just spent the night partying, and didn't care about her appearance... Maybe it was a one time thing.

I've been to the salon more than 5 times and I've had a few different stylists each time and the stylist I really liked a lot is Amber. She really knows what she is doing and knows my hair and how to bring it to its full potential. My head is big and my hair is thick, but she really knows how to cut it in a way tht fits me. Of all the salons I've been to, Empire salon has the best stylists overall and I'm always satisfied with the outcome. It's a little pricey, but it is worth it.

She has good technique, but more importantly, gives a great overall customer experience by listening to the requests for hair style, timing, and look I want, is flexible with her appointments (I have a crazy travel schedule) to fit me in that works with my busy schedule, presents a professional and customer oriented front to Empire. by Anon on 2013-01-07 Very nice staff, but not thrilled with my haircut. I asked for a trim of about an inch, saying I liked my hair long and have been growing it out. Ended up taking much more than an inch and felt that the stylist took her own liberties in giving me much more layering than I had before, some of which are really short pieces that I'm now struggling to style. I'd had a haircut from this person before and all was great, but for some reason this time the stylist went more with what they thought would look best (and they could style) rather than what I asked for (and can style easily myself). Another side note... could be more mindful of how hot the hairdryer is and how close to our scalp it's getting to avoid burning a client.

I highly recommend Empire Salon - specifically Laurie Plunkett. I have been going here for 4 years and have been extremely pleased with every visit. I have gone to some of the top stylists in Beverly Hills, and Chicago, and have been equally pleased with Empire. I not only have a wonderful stylist but a good friend!

Laurie is the best!

She does a great job, listens to you and then goes as far to pull up pictures of what she's thinking on the Internet to make sure you are both on the same page. I am so happy my friends told me about her or I would have still been getting bad hair styles trying to find the right stylist.

My two daughters and I have been going to your salon for over 6 years. We have always been fairly happy, but the experience I received at your salon yesterday leaves me debating if I should leave. My daughter and I had an appointment yesterday at different times with the same stylist. Her appointment and style was satisfactory, but the treatment I received was appalling. I have never had this experience at your salon. I was told there was no time to both trim and blow dry my hair and would have to go home with wet hair. This is after having a standing appointment with you for almost a week and being on time. Willing to compromise, I opted for only a wash and blow-dry in order to get some service. She charged me $52 for the poorest blow-dry I have ever received. I couldn't do a worse job myself and the young girls at the Blo Out Lounge have done a much better job. I came home after being basically "robbed" and had to have my hair redone again. My daughter received better treatment and was charged $54 for a full haircut wash and blowdry which took all of one hour. The same that it would have taken for me to get a trim, wash, and blow-dry. Since I am the customer that pays for all the hair styling appointments in my home, I am seriously considering never seeking any service in your salon again.
