Baseball Prospects of America 1237 Avenue Z Suite 4P Brooklyn, NY Baseball Prospects of America 1237 Avenue Z Suite 4P Brooklyn, NY 11235 16 Time C.A.B.A High School World Champions 1988,1992,1993,1994,1995,1996,1998,1999,2000,2002,2003,2004,2005,2007,2008,2011 Dear Prospect, I will be having my annual top prospects and instructional showcase camp for the Georgia & Alabama areas on Sunday December 6th , 2020 at Eagles Landing High School located at 301 Tunis Rd, McDonough, GA 30253. This camp is for high school players that are interested in playing at the next level, whether collegiate or professionally. All players will receive instruction in hitting, fielding, and pitching from professional scouts and coaches. Steve Bort has 40+ years of coaching & recruiting experience. By attending this camp, Steve can open doors with professional scouts as well as college coaches. The camp will be starting at 10:00 A.M. and ending at 3:00 P.M. Please make all checks payable to Baseball Prospects of America. Please mail your registration and check immediately as there will be no walkups allowed and the camp will be limited to the first 60 players. The 2019 Bergen Beach National Scout Team roster was filled with some of the top talent from across the United States. We had players with commitments to Missouri, Kentucky, Florida State, Florida, Georgia Tech & Tennessee. The 2019 Bergen Beach National Scout team finished as runner up in the C.A.B.A High School World Series with a record of 7-1 for the tournament. Due to the concerns with the novel COVID-19 virus Bergen Beach Baseball did not field a team for the 2020 summer. Alex Rodriguez, Johnny Damon, Todd Helton, Brian McCann, Matt Cain, Robbie Ray, Rick Porcello, Josh Hamilton, Mike Napoli and many other Major Leaguers were first recognized when they were in High School at my Baseball Prospects of America camp. After winning the C.A.B.A High School World Series sixteen times, the Future Prospects are recognized as the top high school age team in the history of amateur baseball. Over $65 million dollars in scholarship money has been awarded to players who have attended my camps. Steve Bort has had 96 players reach Major League Baseball. Since, 1987 the players of Steve Bort’ s Future Prospects have earned over $900 million dollars in salary and signing bonuses. Many Major League scouts and college coaches have attended my camps. They include Derek Tucker of the Texas Rangers, Jamal Spearman of the Oakland Athletics, Jarett England of the New York Mets, Arthur McConaughy of the Baltimore Orioles, Timi Moni of the Philadelphia Phillies, and Jack Powell of the Minnesota Twins. Each state of the MDP models the pitcher’s current pitch selection in a Markovian fashion, conditional on the information immediately prior to making the current pitch. This in- cludes the count prior to the previous pitch, his ensuing pitch selec- tion, the batter’s ensuing action and the result of the pitch. The necessary Markovian probabilities can be estimated by the rel- evant observed conditional proportions in MLB pitch-by-pitch game data. These probabilities could be pitcher-specific, using only the data from one pitcher, or general, using the data from a collection of pitchers. Optimal batting strategies against these estimated conditional dis- tributions of pitch selection can be ascertained by Value Iteration. Optimal batting strategies against a pitcher-specific conditional dis- tribution can be contrasted to those calculated from the general con- ditional distributions associated with a collection of pitchers. In this manuscript, a single season of MLB data is used to cal- culate the conditional distributions to find optimal pitcher-specific and general (against a collection of pitchers) batting strategies. These strategies are subsequently evaluated by conditional distributions cal- culated from a different season for the same pitchers.

Manager Bruce Bochy announced his newly aligned rotation, and Madison Bumgarner will pitch Saturday, his first Giants start since April 19. “We missed his voice ... and his BP,” Bochy said as Bumgarner took his hacks in batting practice during Thursday’s workout at Petco Park. Johnny Cueto, who started Sunday in the Giants’ final game before the All-Star break, gets the ball for Friday’s opener against the Padres, followed by Bumgarner and Jeff Samardzija. Matt Moore will start Monday’s homestand opener against Cleveland, and Ty Blach will pitch Tuesday. Matt Cain, the odd man out, took the high road with his move to the bullpen. He has 325 career starts and eight relief appearances, including four in September and one Sunday. As a starter this season, he has a 5.58 ERA. 1 “I’m looking forward to it,” Cain said. “I’ve got to go about this like it’s a new challenge. ... There’s no issue with going down there. It’ll be a good thing.” Bumgarner made just three starts before injuring his shoulder and ribs in his April 20 dirt-bike accident in Colorado, and the Giants showed very little in his absence. "(Brett) Anderson was really, really good,'' Cain said, shaking his head. "The guys were coming back to the dugout talking about how lively his pitches were, how much his ball was moving." Precision pitching from both sides of the bay set a brisk tone for the Giants' 2-1 victory at AT&T Park. The game sailed by in 2 hours and 5 minutes — a full-out sprint by exhibition game standards. For the A's, though, it wasn't quite fast enough: Center fielder Coco Crisp suffered a partially dislocated pinkie finger on his left hand when he was thrown out trying to steal second in the third inning. A's manager Bob Geren described Crisp's status was day to day. Crisp exited the game after his headfirst slide, but Geren said Crisp was scheduled to play only three innings anyway. The Giants tried some daring on the base paths, too, when Juan Uribe tried to score from second on a wild pitch in the seventh. Uribe was out — albeit unscathed — after his collision with A's catcher Landon Powell. Uribe's exuberance was understandable, considering the Giants' offensive silence since arriving back from Arizona.
