Problem: Some individual new engines of the above stated models under certain conditions can experience abnormal engine misfi ring noise described as “knocking sound”. A preliminary analysis suggests the failure is primarily caused by mismatch of and setting to the individual engine.

IMPORTANT: This repair is effective for only blower which has used JASO FD Certifi ed 2 Engine Oil. Any product which used lower grade’s of oil is not supported and not warranted. (Please refer to Owner’s/Operator’s Manual for details.)

Repair: Repair Kit Part Number: 581 24 07-01. Repair kit includes one ignition coil, one #45 Main Jet, one carburetor and this Service Bulletin # 1. Replace Ignition Coil and Main Jet (from #44 to #45) 2. Submit Warranty with entering “” in “Work Performed” fi eld. Labor is 8 units.

WARNING! Make sure that the engine has stopped and is cool before performing any service to the blower. Contact with rotating blower impeller or hot muffl er may result in a personal injury. Make sure to wear proper clothes and gloves. Read Owner’s / Operator’s manual carefully before start repairing.

Required tools: Crosshead Screwdriver, T-27 Wrench, Torque Wrench, Loctite 242 (blue) medium strength, Digital Engine and Air Gap (Filler) Gage (0.016 Inches-P/N: 510 96 17-01)

Repair Procedure 1. Replace IGNITION COIL (New coil is marked C03 or CDC, old coil is marked CDA or CDB or D01 or D02) 1-1. Empty . 1-2. Remove a FUEL and RETURN LINE from Fig.1 CARBURETOR. 1-3. Remove FUEL TANK by removing three (3) T-27 SCREWs at the bottom of frame (Fig.1). 1-4. Remove ENGINE COVER by removing four (4) T-27 SCREWs (Fig.2). 1-5. Remove COIL COVER by removing one (1) T-27 BOLT (Fig.3). Fig.2 Fig.3 B1200089

1-6. Remove IGNITION COIL by removing two (2) T-27 BOLTs (Fig.4). 1-7. Set new IGNITION COIL, using two (2) T-27 BOLTS with Loctite 242 (blue) with fi nger tight (Fig.4) . Adjust Air Gap. Air Gap:0.016 Inches Tighten the BOLTS. Tightening Torque: 22-34 inch-lbs. 1-8. Install PLUG CAP to . Clamp high tension cord. 1-9. Install one (1) T-27 COIL COVER BOLT Fig.4 with Loctite 242 (blue) (Fig.3) . Tightening Torque: 9-13 inch-lbs. 1-10. Install four (4) T-27 ENGINE COVER SCREWs (Fig.2). Tightening Torque: 40-47 inch-lbs.

2 Replace MAIN JET 2-1. Remove AIR CLEANER COVER by loosening two (2) TAB SCREWs by hand (Fig.5). Fig.5 Fig.6 2-2. Remove AIR CLEANER ELEMENT (Fig.6) and CABLE. 2-3. Remove CARBURETOR and AIR CLEANER BODY by removing two (2) T-27 BOLTs (Fig.7). Discard old ‘carburetor to carb-block’ gasket. 2-4. Clean debris or dirt from CARBURETOR Fig.7 by using solvent and blow dry with compressed air. 2-5. Remove four (4) crosshead screws from carburetor in crisscross fashion as shown in (Fig. 8) Keep all screws remaining with carburetor pump body to be used in the same locations. (Fig.9). 2-6. Remove pump body with (Fig.10) diaphragm from carburetor body (Fig.9). 2-7. Remove #44 MAIN JET and O-RING using fi nger (Fig.10). Fig.8 2-8. Remove O-ring from #44 MAIN JET (Fig.11) and install the O-RING to #45 MAIN JET (Fig.12). 2-9. Install #45 MAIN JET and O-RING to carburetor body using fi nger until MAIN JET is seated in the carburetor body (Fig.9). 2-10. Assemble PUMP BODY by secure four (4) Fig.9 crosshead SCREWs in crisscross fashion as shown in (Fig.8). Tightening torque: 6.5- 7.5 inch-lbs B1200089

2-11. Install CARBURETOR and AIR CLEANER BODY with new ‘carburetor to carb-block’ gasket by secure two (2) T-27 SCREWs (Fig.7). Tightening torque: 27-39 inch-lbs 2-12. Install AIR CLEANER ELEMENT (Fig.6) and AIR CLEANER COVER (Fig.5). Fig.10 Secure two (2) SCREWs on AIR CLEANER COVER by hand (Fig.5). 2-13. Install three (3) T-27 FUEL TANK SCREWs (Fig.1). Tightening torque: 27-34 inch-lbs Connect FUEL and RETURN LINEs to CARBURETOR. Connect THROTTLE CABLE to CARBURETOR. Fig.11 3. Adjust Idling Speed 3-1. Start and run ENGINE for three and a half (3.5) minutes alternating RPM between, Wide Open Throttle (WOT) for one (1) minute and Idle for ten (10) seconds. 3-2. Adjust the engine idling speed with turning idle speed adjustment screw to be from 2,000 to 2,400 rpm (Fig. 13). Fig.12 Fig.13 4. Submit Warranty Enter in “Work Performed” fi eld. Labor is 8 units.
