Sl. Name of the Product Brief Write up / Product Description Remarks No. 1 Chadar-Mekhela The Chadar-Mekhela is a traditional dress for the women of Assam. This two With reference to piece garment has a long piece of cloth that is draped from the waist Sl. No. 1,2,4,9,14, (Muga Silk / Mulberry downwards and then folded into pleats and tucked in, which is called 16,17,18,19,20,21, Silk / Cotton etc.) mekhela. The upper part of the piece is called chadar that is also a long 23,24,32,34,35, piece of cloth whose one end is tucked into mekhela, and the rest is 36,37,38,39,45,46, wrapped around the body. Chadar-Mekhela is worn by a woman in day to 49,52, 53,54 days’ life and also during marriage ceremony/different traditional & cultural occasion. This is woven on handloom (both throw shuttle & fly shuttle) with different natural fibre like cotton, mulberry silk, muga silk, eri spun silk etc., with traditional motif with extra weft technique. Muga Chadar mekhela with red floral motif worn by women of Assam during Bihu dance. 2 Chadar The chadar is used as upper part of the dress i.e long piece of cloth whose With reference to one end is tucked into lower garment (Mekhela) and rest is wrapped Sl. No. 5, 11, 13, 22, 27,42, 43, 44, around the body. 3 Gamocha Gamocha is the most important hand woven product of Assamese people With reference to Sl. No. 10, 15, 25, which is the sign of their tradition and culture. Depending on the traditional/cultural occasions, the Gamocha is used in different ways by Assamese men & women. Gamocha is woven on handloom (both throw shuttle & fly shuttle) with different natural fibre/yarn like Cotton, Mulberry Silk, Muga Silk etc., with traditional motif/butta with extra weft technique. 4 Eri Silk Shawl Eri Silk Shawl is woven on handloom using both handspun eri silk & mill spun With reference to Sl. No. 3,12, 26 eri silk. This ‘Ahimsa Silk’ shawl is basically used during winter season to cover & keep the body warm. Women’s eri shawl is ornamented with different traditional/tribal motif, whereas men’s shawls are plain & bigger in size. Due to its iso-thermal property a light weight (soft in nature), shawl gives much of warmness to human body. This is also used during different kind of traditional/cultural occasion mostly by the people of Assam & Arunachal Pradesh. 5 Muga Silk Saree Saree is traditional attire/dress worn by women of India in different With reference to Sl. No. 8 traditional motif/design/butta of different regions/States of India. It is PAN India product worn by women during day to day life and also during auspicious/ceremonial occasions in Assam. Saree is woven with different natural fibre like cotton, mulberry silk, muga silk, eri spun silk etc., with traditional motif with extra weft technique.
6 Dokhona "Dokhona" is the main traditional dress of women of Bodo tribes. It is worn With reference to Sl. No. 28, 29, 41, to cover the whole body from chest to legs by tied one round at a time in 58 the waist. Different Agor (design or flower motifs) with various colors are weaved for Dokhona. "Matha" or "Salamatha", the used for plain Dokhona. Among the colors yellow is the main traditional colour and "Matha" Dokhona with yellow colour is used as a bridal attire. 7 Aronai "Arnai" (small Scarf) the most beautiful cloth of Bodo people is the sign of With reference to Sl. No. 30, 31, 57 their tradition and is used to felicitate people with honour and also used while performing Bodo dance. In ancient period, Bodo warriors use to put "Aronai" as a belt in the battle field weaved by their wives. Depending on the occasions, Bodo people used to wear it in different ways in winter time. It is worn tie the neck, in dancing it is hanged on one side of shoulder and tie both the edges through another Aronai in the waist and in the felicitation, it is simply hanged on neck. The main Agor used in the Aronai is "Pahar Agor" or Hajw Agor" on the both edges.
