HotaruMatsuri Kita A i zu O Kaisai The 2017 Kita Aizu Firefly Festival ホタル祭り2017 in きたあいづを開催 Plenty of events for the whole family! This is the 24th year of the firefly festival. Come enjoy a variety of events including firefly watching, stage events, and local and agricultural products for sale. On the first day of the event, stage shows will include the Komatsu Higanjishi dance, performed by students from Kawanami Elementary School and a Japanese drum festival. The second day will feature local performing arts, folklore dramas, and a superhero character show. Food will also be for sale at the “Firefly Market” food stalls, so there is plenty to do while you are waiting for the fireflies to appear. A special gift will be given to visitors who bring an event flier (distributed on the Kita Aizu area circuit bus “Pikarin” and “Minazuru” bus) to the event. *-------------------------------------------* ♦Date and Time: Saturday, June 24th, and Sunday, June 25th; 12:00pm~9:00pm ♦Location: Hotaru No Mori Koen (Firefly Forest Park, Kita Aizu-machi Shimoarai) “Pikarin” Circuit Bus On the day of the event, the road might be crowded. There will be shuttle buses available from the Kita Aizu Shisho (the Kita Aizu Branch of Aizu Wakamatsu City Hall) to the event site. Additional Kita Aizu area circuit buses “Pikarin” will be running for the festival as well. To reduce traffic, please use these buses when you come. Members receive monthly newsletters, and are notified of various events and volunteer activities. The landscape of the town can be thought of as the "face of the city", reflecting the daily life and culture of everyone who lives here. Aizu Wakamatsu City has created the Aizu Wakamatsu Beautiful Landscape Award in order to honor the buildings and gardens of the citizen who have contributed to the city’s beauty. If you know a building or a garden which you think is beautiful, or a person who contributes to the creation of a beautiful landscape, please recommend them. There are three divisions to which people may apply/be nominated for the award. Subject criteria for each award are as follows: The Preservation of Beautiful Landscape Award ♦Qualifying Properties: Historical buildings, gardens, gates, fences, historically meaningful trees, or other monuments which have been well kept ♦Selection Criteria Examples: ◎The location must exude a “historical feeling”, or have been well maintained. ◎The building must invigorate the historical atmosphere of the location, and enhance the overall value of the landscape. It was the first disaster that included an earthquake, a tsunami, and a nuclear power plant accident. The 2011 disasters have had immense impacts on people life, health and property, social infrastructure and economy, natural and institutional environment, etc. in North-eastern Japan and beyond [Abe, 2014; Al-Badri and Berends, 2013; Biodiversity Center of Japan, 2013; Britannica, 2014; Buesseler, 2014; FNAIC, 2013; Fujita et al., 2012; IAEA, 2011; IBRD, 2012; Kontar et al., 2014; NIRA, 2013; TEPCO, 2012; UNEP, 2012; Vervaeck and Daniell, 2012; Umeda, 2013; WHO, 2013; WWF, 2013]. The triple disaster has been having immense impacts on people’s life, health and property, social infrastructure, economy, policies, natural and institutional environment, etc. in the affected regions, Japan, and beyond. This book is a first attempt to present a comprehensive assessment of the multiple impacts of the March 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, tsunami and Fukushima nuclear accident on the Japanese agriculture and food sector. First, it identifies and assesses diverse impacts (radiation, displacement, health, physiological, production, economic, technological, organizational, environmental, institutional, political, direct, indirect, etc.) of the disasters including all stages (inputs supply, farming, storage, wholesaling, transportation, processing, distribution, retailing, consumption) and components (natural resources, labor, biological and material assets, intangibles, technology, production structure, finance, waste disposal, information, management) of agri-food chain, and all temporal (immediate, short-term, long-term) and spacial (local, regional, national, trans-national) scales.
