The rules of FootGolf largely correspond to the rules of golf. FootGolf uses golf’s basic model including tee boxes, greens, bunkers, hazards, and 9-holes or 18-holes of play. The sport is played with a soccer ball on a traditional golf course with 21-inch diameter cups, set to the side of the traditional greens, instead of the traditional 4.25-inch diameter cups. Scorecards display par scores for each hole, just as in regular golf. In support of the launch, Port Royal Golf & Racquet Club will host a complimentary FootGolf Clinic from 2:00pm to 3:00pm on Friday, October 17th, 2014. Those wishing to join the clinic can sign up in the Golf Shop or call (843) 681-1766. Port Royal will offer FootGolf on Thursday-Saturday afternoons. The Port Royal FootGolf course, a 9-hole course on Planter’s Row (Holes 1, 2, 3, 10, and 11), takes approximately one hour or less to play. FootGolfers wanting to play 18-holes will be able to play the course twice. “We are very excited to bring this new sport to our Club. We see FootGolf as a way to reach new people that haven’t been to our club before (or perhaps haven’t been to any golf course before).
