    APRIL 2021 Message from the Director of Golf Rick Price, PGA Spring is in the air as we welcome the month of April! The Bermuda grass is growing, allowing us to open the driving range tee and the new short game area this month. In April, the Men’s Member/Member Championship scheduled for April 9-10 is full. All golf leagues are wrapping up their main tournament events this month, and we all look forward to hopefully being back to normal in the fall with shotgun starts and luncheons. Congratulations to all the winners from last month in the Men's 18-Hole Club Championship, Women's 18-Hole Club Championship and the Oro Valley Amateur.     Tour Edge Re-Signs 3-Time World Long Drive Champ Phillis Meti to Play EXS Driver for 2019 Tour Edge announced today that Phillis Meti has officially re-signed a deal to play Tour Edge Exotics drivers in World Long Drive competition and remain as a global staffer for Tour Edge. The partnership will feature the Tour Edge logo on both sides of her hat and on her staff bag. “It’s great to be a part of the Global Tour Edge family for 2019 and I’m so excited to be playing the Exotics EXS driver in competition,” said Meti. “The driver has tested extremely well and I can’t wait to get going with EXS in the new season! 2019 is going to be a special year defending my World title! Look out for some tips and insights over social media I’ll be doing on driving the ball with the EXS Driver in the near future.” Meti won the 2018 World Long Drive Championship with an Exotics driver, her 2nd World Long Drive Championship in the last three years playing Exotics. The new deal will feature Meti sharing driving tips via Tour Edge’s social media channels onhitting the ball long and straight, as well as being featured at the PGA Merchandise Show in 2020 as a Tour Edge staffer. “We are so proud to have Phillis back on board with Tour Edge representing Exotics drivers on the World Long Drive circuit,” said designer of the Exotics EXS driver and President of Tour Edge, David Glod. Meti won the biggest long drive event in the world with a 313 yard drive in the final round of the live for television Golf Channel event to become a 3- time World Champion.

The Odyssey Golf Foundation also works with other 501(c)(3) organizations in order to assist with their fundraising activities through the use of our facilities and services. Position Summary: Participates in all activities related to outside member/guest services. Activities may include serving as a valet in the bag drop area, transporting golf bags from the parking lot and/or bag storage area to and from golf carts, cleaning clubs, staging and/or returning golf cars, performing practice range duties, cleaning and maintaining golf cars, etc. Responsibilities also include greeting and interacting with members/guests and providing information and/or assistance as appropriate. Responsibilities also involve picking range balls washing them and maintaining driving range areas. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Bring carts from cart shelter to cart staging area. It’s based on such a simple principle; simply hole out in as few strokes as possible, but unfortunately, this is much harder than it sounds? So what makes this game so difficult? From my experience, the more I play this game the more I realize that golf’s difficulty comes from the scale of movements and mis-movements that a player makes. While you might think you made the same swing you normally do, a couple millimeters of change above, below, left, or right of the ball at contact can completely change the outcome of your shot. Similarly, two or three degrees of adjustment in how the club strikes the ball can be the difference between your shot flying down the fairway or slicing into the water. This required level of precision, in my opinion, is frustrating for a lot of golfers and is the single biggest limitation of a player’s improvement. Although these small physical changes in each swing dramatically affect your round, this really is what makes the game fun and satisfying to play at a high level.
