Blue Crabs Announce New Broadcaster Posted by TBN On 04/06/2011 CRABS INK A NEW BROADCASTER FOR THE 2011 SEASON Grandson Of Legendary Broadcaster Harry Caray Becomes New Broadcaster For Blue Crabs The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs have announced that Josh Caray will be the team's new broadcaster for the coming season. Caray will call all 126 games on BroadcastMonsters.com with live video webcasts set on ibnsports.com. Caray comes from a long line of broadcasters as he follows his grandfather (Harry), father (Skip), and brother (Chip) into the broadcast booth. Harry Caray was a major-league baseball broadcaster for 53 years while covering the Cardinals, A's, White Sox and Cubs. He became known nationally while with the Cubs on WGN for leading the crowd in "Take Me Out To The Ball Game" during the seventh-inning stretch. In 1989, Harry was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame after receiving the Ford C. Frick Award, which is presented annually to a broadcaster for making major contributions to baseball. Skip Caray became known for his 33 years of broadcasting Atlanta Braves baseball games while also serving as a broadcaster for Turner Sports' coverage of the NBA, NFL, college football, college basketball, and the Goodwill Games. Skip is best known in Atlanta for his final call of Game 7 of the 1992 NLCS when a bottom of the ninth, Francisco Cabrera base hit and a safe slide at home by Sid Bream, catapulted the Braves to a 3-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates and into the World Series. Caray was later inducted into the Atlanta Braves Hall of Fame in 2004. Chip Caray is currently a television broadcaster for the Atlanta Braves and their regional television station Fox Sports South. In the past he has also served as the lead commentator for TBS' Game of the Week and one of their voices for college football. Chip has also called games for the Chicago Cubs, Seattle Mariners, and Orlando Magic in his career. Josh comes to Southern Maryland from San Angelo, TX where he was a broadcaster, media relations director, and marketing director for the San Angelo Colts of United League Baseball. In the past, Josh has also called games for the Gwinnett Braves of the International League and the Rome Braves of the South Atlantic League. The Blue Crabs open spring training on April 18, with Opening Day scheduled for April 29 at Regency Furniture Stadium against the Somerset Patirots. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05.
