Since 1987, Walmart has hired S. M. Wilson & Co. to build new Walmart stores, Sam’s Clubs and Neighborhood Markets across the country. S. M. Wilson has provided construction services for more than 60 stores in Missouri, , , , , Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado and Tennessee.

Von Maur

Department Stores

In June 2009, S. M. Wilson began construction on the first Missouri Von Maur store located at The Meadows in Lake St. Louis. This was the firm’s first time partnering with Von Maur.

Since the completion of The Meadows store, S. M. Wilson has also constructed a 142,950 SF store in Alpharetta, ; a three-story, 234,0000 SF store Dunwoody, Georgia; a three- story, 187,000 SF store in Hoover, Alabama; a 162,000 SF store in , Oklahoma; a 165,000 SF remodel in Buford, Georgia and a 152,750 SF store in Brookfield, Wisconsin. The firm is currently constructing a new store in Grand Rapids, and a renovation in , Illinois.

Target School Library Makeover Program

S. M. Wilson & Co. have teamed up with Target and the Heart of America Foundation for their Target School Library Makeover Program. The program transforms elementary school libraries by remodeling the library spaces, revitalizing technology, replenishing book shelves and by renewing community support and interest in enriching student lives and helping students regain lost opportunities for learning.

Brown Elementary School (Austin, TX), George Peabody Elementary School (Dallas, TX), Casa View Elementary School (Dallas, TX), W. W. Bushman Elementary School (Dallas, TX), Roger Q. Mills Elementary School (Dallas, TX), M. E. Pearson Elementary School (Kansas City, KS), John T. Hartman Elementary School (Kansas City, MO) and Walnut Grove Elementary School (St. Louis, MO).

Target schedules store openings three times a year. S. M. Wilson has made the commitment to do whatever it takes to meet Target’s “Grand Opening” for each store, regardless of the construction start date or weather conditions. Since 1991, S. M. Wilson has completed nearly 10 million SF of retail space for Target in this manner. S. M. Wilson has provided construction services for more than 100 Target Stores in Missouri, Texas, Indiana, Illinois, , Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Louisiana, Ohio, Mississippi and Kansas.

Saks Fifth Avenue

Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5th Stores

In May 2010, the Opry Mills was severely damaged after a historic flood wreaked havoc on the City of Nashville. The new Saks Avenue OFF 5th is a replacement store for the one lost in the 2010 flood. The 27,500 SF store features an open air loft-like environment and features a layout that offers maximized efficiency and flexibility, enabling easy change. The space will be bright, uncluttered with no hard aisles. All fixtures are on casters, ensuring easy movement and all hardware are interchangeable between fixtures.

In March 2012, S. M. Wilson constructed a second store for the retailer. The Syracuse, New York store is 24,000 SF and is located in the Carousel Center mall. The project had many challenges including strict LEED requirements.

S. M. Wilson recently completed construction on a third store for the retailer at a new Premium Outlet Mall in Chesterfield, Missouri.

Pine Ridge Plaza

S. M. Wilson renovated and constructed the Pine Ridge Plaza in Lawrence, Kansas – the city’s first retail “.” The 100,000 SF project consisted of renovating the existing K-Mart facility to house four tenants: Bed, Bath & Beyond, TJ Maxx, Michael’s and Cost Plus World .

The Pine Ridge plaza shopping center in Lawrence, Kansas, is an example of updating an older structure and incorporating customized entryways for each of the tenants. This project included demolishing thirty feet of the rear of the existing structure in order to install four new receiving and dock areas; reinforcing the new exterior wall; and installing utilities to meet tenant deadlines. Individual fire lines with separate risers, domestic water, power and gas lines were installed for each tenant. The project also required working around existing businesses. Olde Towne Plaza

New Retail Strip Mall

In order to build the new retail complex, 50 residential and commercial structures had to be demolished on the property and expansive clearing and grading activities were performed. In addition, all utilities had to be terminated or relocated and new utilities were set-up to accommodate the retail development. Due to the topography, the site also required approximately 500,000 cubic yards of fill, and the construction of a massive boulder retaining wall system that was pre-engineered to raise the site to the proper elevation.

Along with the construction of the plaza, improvements were also made to the Ballwin Elementary School parking lots and the Old Ballwin School was physically relocated. The timing of the work was critical due to the proximity of Ballwin Elementary, which required a phased construction schedule and an extended detour plan.

Over the past ten years, S. M. Wilson & Co. has grown into one of the country’s largest builders of retail shell space, and leads the way in the metro St. Louis area. S. M. Wilson is well known in the retail industry for our ability to deliver a quality product on time, within budget and with no excuses. Based on the this reputation, S. M. Wilson was selected by Lowe’s Home Centers, Inc. to build twelve new stores in the St. Louis area and Central Illinois. These prototype stores have a 121,000 SF sales floor and a 30,000 SF lawn and garden center.

Koman Properties selected S. M. Wilson & Co. to build the retail shell for Phase II of a new retail development near Longacre Drive and Illinois Route 159 in Fairview Heights. Phase II added 180,000 SF of commercial space to the existing 120,000 SF shopping plaza and is anchored by Old Navy, Steinmart, Linen’s and Things, Marshall’s, Office Depot, Ultimate Electronics and of Shoes.

With the bulk of the project occurring during the winter months, sequencing the construction of key sections of the buildings to maintain the schedule was challenging. Due to the late release of interior packages, the coordination between steel fabrication and the necessary modification to incorporate RTU loads became critical. S. M. Wilson was able to maintain the delivery schedule in time to meet the Owner and tenant needs and still minimize extra costs for steel modifications.

Over the past ten years, S. M. Wilson & Co. has grown into one of the country’s largest builders of retail shell space, and leads the way in the metro St. Louis area. S. M. Wilson was selected by Kohl’s Department Store to build nine new stores located in Crestwood, Ellisville, Washington, Wentzville and Cape Girardeau, Missouri; Carbondale, Effingham and Alton (LEED Certified Store), Illinois and Paducah, Kentucky.

Each store is designed to maximize a satisfying, hassle free shopping experience. The store includes a men’s clothing department, women’s clothing department, juniors and children’s clothing department, houseware’s, shoes, jewelry and luggage department.

JCPenney

JCPenney Department Stores

In January 2006, S. M. Wilson & Co. was chosen by JCPenney Corporation to provide construction management services for their new retail store in Dardenne Prairie, Missouri. This project was the first new construction store that was completed by S. M. Wilson. The new 99,119 SF store opened with JCPenney’s new off-mall format. The off-mall format features stand alone stores with wider aisles, new lighting designs and concentrated customer service centers. Since the completion of the Dardenne Prairie store, S. M. Wilson has provided construction services for nine new JCPenney stores in Missouri, Illinois, Texas, Arizona and Ohio and has worked on several store renovations in Missouri, Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, Kentucky, Indiana, , North Dakota, Tennessee and Wisconsin.

St. Louis Store

The new two-story store is 385,000 square feet, and located on a 22 acre site at the southwest intersection of Forest Park Avenue and Vandeventer Avenue. The project included 540 parking spaces in a garage one level below the store on the ground level and a loading dock.

Building components within the facility include warehousing/stocking, customer self-service, product displays, a cafeteria-style restaurant, children’s play area, and administration/office areas.

When Home Depot decided to target the St. Louis market, they selected S. M. Wilson & Co. as their general contractor. As one of the country’s largest builders of retail shell space, and the largest in the St. Louis metro area, S. M. Wilson could guarantee that Home Depot’s budget and demanding construction schedules were met.

Since 1996, S. M. Wilson has completed 13 Home Depot stores in the St. Louis area. A typical Home Depot store consists of an indoor retail area and garden center.

Cabela’s Outpost

Cabela’s Outpost

The 50,000 SF Cabela’s Outpost store in Bowling Green will be Cabela’s second store in Kentucky, joining the Louisville location constructed by S. M. Wilson.

The Cabela’s Outpost store features museum-quality wildlife displays, a gun counter, indoor archery range, archery tech room and handpainted murals, as well as a core-flex layout featuring innovative digital signage and seasonal product assortments. The project also features site work and an access road.

S. M. Wilson was selected to provide construction management services for five new stores for the retailer – Hazelwood, Missouri; Columbus, Ohio; Louisville, Kentucky; Christiana, Delaware; and Bowling Green, Kentucky. Construction will start construction on a sixth store in West Chester, Ohio in October 2014.

Each Cabela’s facility features an aquarium stocked with fish native to the area. In addition, each store has a mountain replica with running waterfalls and streams, a gun library, , retail space and an indoor archery range. The high-end spaces also boast a sun-drenched atrium interior featuring authentic fieldstone accents and wood furnishings.

Bob Evans

Bob Evans Renovations

In Fall 2013, Bob Evans renovated 18 of their restaurants throughout Missouri and Illinois. Renovations at each restaurant were completed within a one to two-week timeframe.

Although renovations varied amongst each restaurant, typical interior renovations included installing wood-grain ceramic tile and carpet flooring, a grab and go bakery display, ADA- compliant restrooms and HVAC modifications. Several restaurants received an updated look with the help of new light fixtures, ceiling fans, tables and chairs, wall coverings, salad and dessert display cases and dining counters.

Updates to the building exterior included paint, new signage, new canopy and trim, new cornice and aluminum trim. American Girl

Retail Shell Space

American Girl, a division of Mattel, Inc., opened a new retail store at Chesterfield Mall. In addition to the merchandise, the store features a 22-seat Bistro, a Doll Hair Salon and the “Creativi-Tees” boutique, where customers can design doll- sized t-shirts.

The American Girl store was built in an former restaurant space. As part of the retail shell space project, S. M. Wilson demolished the existing restaurant, replaced the interior tenant finishes as well as the existing store front shell and installed new footings, and EIFS.
