2015 USC Women’s Volleyball • Match Notes USC Head Coach Mick Haley Mick Haley is in his 15th season as head coach at where he has guided teams to two national championships (2002, ‘03), six NCAA Final Four appearances (2002, ‘03, ‘04, ‘07, ’10, and ‘11) and 14 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. USC has finished the season ranked nationally in the top five a total of eight out of 14 times under Haley.

He has posted an impressive overall record of 386-93 (.806) while going 212-66 (.763) in Pac-12 play. Haley was named 2011 Pac-12 Coach of the Year for leading the Trojans to the league title; the first time at USC that he earned that honor.

Haley’s 2003 squad won the program’s sixth title overall and third NCAA crown. He guided that team to a perfect 35-0 record (only the fourth team ever to accomplish the feat) and was honored as the AVCA Division I Coach of the Year.

A two-time national championship head coach at Texas and four-year coach of the U.S. Women’s National Team, Haley took the helm at USC to start of the 2001 season.

Haley earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Ball State in 1965 and a master’s degree in education in 1966 from Southern Illinois. Haley and his wife, Carrie, have a daughter, Halie, 27, and a son, Hunter, 28. He also has a son, Heath, 39, and a daughter, Heather, 44, from a previous marriage, and four grandchildren, Harrison, 16, Hayley, 14, Amelia, 7, and Michael, 5.

#2 ARE YOU CRAZY?: Because if you are, Samantha Bricio would love to talk to you. Of all the dream jobs one could have, Bricio aspires to work in a mental hospital with dangerous criminals. Currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree in psychology, Bricio is considering completing a master’s degree in criminal psychology when she is done with her playing career.

#3 SIBLING RIVALRY: Outside hitter Niki Withers may be a transfer from Cal State Fullerton, but her choice to play at USC puts her on the other side of a crosstown rivalry with her brother Marcedes Lewis. Lewis is in his 10th year as a Pro Bowl tight end for the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars. He won the Mackey Award as the best collegiate tight end while attending UCLA (2002-05), but never beat the Trojans while he wore the Bruin jersey.

#4 NUTTY VICE: Defensive specialist Victoria Garrick’s guilty pleasure is Nutella, a delicious hazelnut spread made of skim milk with a hint of cocoa.

#5 NET VIOLATION: Middle blocker Jordan Dunn is all about preventing net violations. She used to be a goalie for her soccer team at Corona HS as a freshman and sophomore. At 6-4, her reach helped her stop many oppositional net violations during her futbol career.

#5 GREAT DANE: Jordan Dunn is the descendant of a former Queen of Denmark. The great-great-great-great grandmother of Dunn served as the Danish queen consort in the early to mid-1800s.

#6 LA COSTA CONNECTION: Opposite Brittany Abercrombie is the third player to play for USC from La Costa Canyon HS in Carlsbad, Calif. She follows in the footsteps of three-time All-American libero Natalie Hagglund, and All-American opposite hitter Katie Fuller who each produced successful careers with the Women of Troy.

#23 ROUNDBALL ROCK: Outside hitter Sarah Livingston isn’t new to volleyball, but it is a drastic change from her basketball-playing days at Illinois just a year ago. The transfer was a guard on the Illini squad in 2013-14 and was dribbling not too long ago. She is the younger sister of 10-year NBA veteran guard and recently crowned World Champion Shaun Livingston who was the fourth overall pick in the 2004 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Clippers. He is currently a guard with the defending NBA champion Golden State Warriors.
