Euro Meet – 26th – 28th January 2018 Luxembourg, 05.12.2017 German breaststroke ace Marco Koch opens the Euro Meet 2018 entry list In less than two months, the Luxembourg Euro Meet will be staged for the 20th time at the famous D’Coque swimming pool in Luxembourg City. Entries start to flow on the organisers desk, and the first very important one concerns Marco Koch, from Germany. Marco attended the Euro Meet yearly since 2013 and won all 200m breaststroke finals five years in a row. This event is his pet race, as he earned twice the world title, long course (50m pool) in 2015 in Kazan, and short course (25m pool) in 2016 in Windsor. He holds the world record of the latter. Unfortunately, do to some changes in his preparation, his summer 2017 season was rather unsuccessful, as he did not go further than semi-finalist at the World Championships in Budapest. There is no doubt that he will now cash the benefits of this new workout approach which includes more dryland exercises, beginning next week in Copenhagen at the European short course swimming championships. The 2018 season highlight will be the European Swimming Championships in Glasgow (3rd to 12th August), where Marco is eager to prove to Russians Anton Chupkov (reigning world champion 2017) and Kirill Prigoda that he remains the best 200m breaststroke specialist. His long course preparation starts at the Euro Meet January next.
