Coalgate Saleyards 29th January 2015 Prime Lambs – 1300 The shortening supply of quality prime lambs became evident at Coalgate this week with buyers competing strongly for the medium sized yarding. Values were firm to steady on previous weeks. Tops $110 - $122 Good $100 - $110 Mediums $90 - $100 Light $80 - $90 Prime Ewes - 700 Lighter yarding at Coalgate with most ewes already gone. Top heavy ewes made $92 with a good number of medium clean cutting ewes averaging around $72 - $75. Lighter ewes made $45 to $55 per head. Tops $82 - $92 Good $70 - $80 Mediums $60 - $70 Light $45 - $55 Store Sheep – 1400 A medium sized yarding of store lambs were hard selling. Good quality lambs look good farming at present. Good $55 - $60 Medium $45 - $50 Light $30 - $40 Prime Cattle (per Kg) A firm prime cattle sale today at Coalgate. The best Angus steers made $2.55 per kg, and a Limosine Steer sold at $2.75 per kg. The Ferguson Family had a magnificent Charloais steer weighing 820kg which sold at $2107. Steers $2.50 - $2.75 Heifers $2.30 - $2.47 Cows $1.40 - $1.71 Bulls $2.50 - $2.72.

He published the book himself with support from Selwyn District Council’s Creative Communities Scheme. Over the next two years, Neville distributed the 205 copies of the book via the Manaaki Whenua Press Bookstore and at the Lincoln Farmers & Craft Market. By the time of his death in June 2016, the book was well and truly sold out. Neville had been President and subsequently Patron of Lincoln & Districts Historical Society (L&DHS newsletter, Issue 42, December 2016). He left the rights to his book and his research materials to the Society. When studying the computer files for the book Fitzgerald’s Town – Lincoln in the 19th Century, it became apparent that the published version had fewer pictures and plans than Neville had originally intended. Subsequently, as a memorial to Neville, the Society decided, with the agreement of the Moar family, to produce a second edition.
