WELCOME DR. CLYDE MUSE • President

DEAR VISITORS: On behalf of the Board of Trustees and the entire Hinds family, I am pleased to welcome you to Hinds Community College, where you will find a personal and friendly atmosphere. For more than 100 years our focus has been on providing a quality education for all who desired one. We make every effort to provide programs and services that enable students to be successful. The college’s athletic program is just one extension of the comprehensive academic, career and technical instruction offered at Hinds. Athletics complement a strong instructional base that provides educational opportunities of the highest caliber. As a sports enthusiast, I’m proud of the accomplishments of our student athletes, both while they are here and wherever their path may lead. We’ve had many players that have enjoyed athletic careers at four-year institutes, in the NFL and even in the . While all of that is something to be proud of, I am most concerned about their performance in the classroom. We are extremely pleased with the graduation/completion rate of our student athletes. Hinds has received the prestigious Halbrook Award (in the Community College Division) 15 times since its inception in 1987. This honor is given to the college having the highest number of student-athletes who graduate or complete class work. Among those working hard for the betterment of the college are members of the coaching staff who prepare their teams for athletic events. Also, to be commended are the band, Hi-Steppers, cheerleaders and their sponsors, the athletic director and the student-athletes, themselves. We are particularly pleased to have parents, students and alumni here. We hope you enjoy the game and continue to take an interest in the activities at Hinds. During the 2017 football season, you will have the opportunity to help us celebrate a significant milestone 100 years of "Community Inspired Service". We thank you for your support and hope you enjoy these special events. To our visiting coaches, players and college representatives, we extend a warm welcome. Please enjoy your visit to Hinds Community College.

Gene Murphy • ATHLETIC DIRECTOR On behalf of the Hinds Community College athletic department, I want to welcome you to our college. Hinds is the largest community college in the state, and we also have the largest sports program of any community college. Our teams compete year-in and year-out for state and regional titles, and our coaching staff brings a wide variety of success to every single sport. It's our goal as an athletic department to graduate our student athletes. Winning the Halbrook Award 15 times is a reflection of our achieving this goal. This year, Hinds Community College is celebrating its 100th year of existence. In light of our Centennial celebration, we will be showing throughout the media guide some of the highlights of the rich tradition that has been built here over the last 100 years. It is my hope that you enjoy watching our teams and continue to support Hinds athletics throughout the year.

– The Hinds Experience – Development Our main goal is the overall development of the student-athlete. Each player’s development is individualized to meet his specific needs, both on and off the field. We make every effort to provide our players with the physical, psychological and spiritual resources to be as well-rounded as possible. This translates to improved performance on the field, in the weight room, classroom and the community. Since 1980, we’ve had over 100 players move on to play in the National Football League.

Academics Each year the Halbrook Award is given out to the community college and university institutions with the highest graduation or completion rate of student-athletes. We have won the Halbrook Award more times than any other two-year college in the state of Mississippi. It is our ultimate goal to prepare our student-athletes for the future and to make sure they are academically eligible to transfer to their school of choice. We provide our student-athletes with resources such as private tutors, ample study hall hours and academic advisers to ensure each individual's success. Community It is important for our student-athletes to give back to community. Each year many players make an impact in the community by participating in events such as Read Across America at local elementary schools and races with Ainsley’s Angels, a running group that enables disabled children to participate. Additionally, our players enjoy volunteering at the Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children. Marcus Loud – 2015
