Radio The Black Friday game continues Nebraska’s long tradition of playing on the day after Thanksgiving. Friday’s contest Husker Sports Network will mark the 24th straight season the Huskers have played on the Friday after Thanksgiving, including each of the last three seasons against Iowa. Nebraska and Iowa are scheduled to meet on Black Friday through at least 2019. Greg Sharpe, Play-by-Play Friday’s game will mark the third season the schools have competed for the Heroes Trophy. In addition to competing Matt Davison, Analyst for a trophy on the field, the Nebraska and Iowa Heroes of the Year will be honored on the field at halftime. Pelini has guided NU to nine or more wins in each of his first five seasons as head coach, joining Bob Devaney and Tom Osborne in accomplishing that feat at Nebraska. Pelini is one of five coaches in Nebraska history to win 50 games on the NU sideline, joining Dana Bible, Bob Devaney, Tom Osborne and Frank Solich. Iowa: Kirk Ferentz (Connecticut, ‘78) is the longest-tenured coach in the Big Ten Conference, as he is completing Facebook.com/huskers his 15th season on the Hawkeye sidelines. Ferentz owns a 107-78 record with the Hawkeyes, and has guided Iowa to a bowl appearance in 10 of 14 seasons. Ferentz is 119-99 overall in 18 seasons as a head coach after previously serving as head coach at Maine for three seasons. NU Special Teams Leaders Kenny Bell–99-yard kickoff return for touchdown Abdullah increased his career rushing total to 2,770 yards, moving him up three spots to 11th on the Nebraska Pat Smith–3-3, 2-2 PAT, game-winning 42-yard FG career rushing list, and within seven yards of the top 10 on the NU career rushing list. Abdullah rushed for 100 yards for the 10th time in 11 games, including each of the last eight games. The eight 2013 Big Ten Standings straight 100-yard rushing games ties for the fourth-longest streak in NU history. The 10 100-yard rushing games are Legends Division the fourth-most in a season in Nebraska history, one behind the record of 11 held by Mike Rozier (1983), Lawrence Records Phillips (1994) and Ahman Green (1997).
