“DONOGHUE DUO” TO COMPETE IN 2019 ON BEHALF OF HELP FOR CHILDREN

Long-Time HFC Supporters Adam and Carole Donoghue Will Run to Raise Funds for the Fight Against Child Abuse

London, UK, January 15, 2019 – Help For Children today announced that on Sunday, April 28, 2019, the dynamic “Donoghue Duo” – Adam and Carole Donoghue – will compete in the prestigious 2019 Virgin Money , running over 42 kilometers in support of Help For Children UK (HFC) and its efforts to fight child abuse.

Help For Children UK is the UK affiliate of Help For Children, an international foundation established in 1998, that is dedicated to preventing and treating child abuse in 13 cities throughout seven countries. As the Donoghues' named charity, HFC UK will receive any funds raised while they train and prepare for the Marathon this coming spring, and as with all of HFC’s branches and affiliates, all money raised in a community stays in that community.

Since the inception of Help For Children UK in 2006, HFC has distributed more than £1.5 million to local charities that prevent and treat child abuse in the London metropolitan area. In 2018 alone, £250,000 in HFC grants funded child abuse prevention and treatment programs at the following organizations’ – Abianda, Family Matters, Home Start Lambeth, Imara CIO, Marie Collins Foundation, Mulberry Bush School, and Safer London.

Adam Donoghue is a long-time supporter of HFC and serves as a partner in the Investment Management group of Maples and Calder's Irish practice, where he heads the Irish funds team in the firm's London office. Carole Donoghue, Adam’s wife, is a consultant radiologist at the Royal Brompton and Chelsea & hospitals. Her work in radiology has been acknowledged with a Radiologic Society of North America Roentgen Fellow Research Award in 2013 and a Royal Academy of Medicine in Ireland medal in January 2018.

Adam and Carole have previously completed multiple in New York (pictured below in the 2011 ), Chicago, Berlin, Dublin and Galway. Dodgy ankles and the arrival of their twins brought a halt to their distance running, but they're coming out of retirement for one last hurrah for Help For Children.
