-Pascal Guerrin – Backup Films (France):
Pascal Guerrin joined in 2006 Backup Films, a Paris-based Film Financing Agency. ESSEC Business School graduate, Pascal is head of co-productions for Backup Films. Entirely dedicated to film financing, Backup Films has accompanied, in 2009, over 60 am- bitious international projects in their search of financing, whether in their development, production, or distribution phase. Backup Films is currently managing film investments funds of over €33.6M, and has brokered, last year, €4.5M of co-production, distribution and equity deals. Over the past 8 years, the films financed through the Backup Films Agency or Backup Films’ funds have gathered 49 A-class festival selections and have won 18 major prizes.

-Massimo Brioschi - Mikado (Italy):
After graduating in Psychology at University of Padua and in Film Studies at University of Bologna, Massimo establishes and directs two non profit associations devoted to film culture promotion, and holds several workshops for high schools in Bologna and Milan focused on the education to the audiovisual image.
5 In 2004, after attending the MEGA Master in Rome, he enters as Acquisitions Consultant at Mikado Film, where he currently holds the position of Head of Development.
He also acts as a national expert consultant for the MEDIA Project Development Programme, holds cinema workshops at University Bicocca of Milan, is a reader/editor for both fiction and non fiction books at Feltrinelli and RCS Publishing, and works as a story editor on various independent projects.

-Jean-Paul Commin – Consultant (France):
After studying journalism in Paris, Jean-Paul Commin became a professional journalist in 1971. He then worked as head of information, and as editor, of reviews in particular devoted to music. He occupied managerial positions from 1976 to 1986 with Phonogram/Polygram France (Direction of Marketing, International and then Managing Director). He joined the Time Warner WEA Music group from 1987 until 1990, as Head of International and Marketing for the French company. He created and was Managing Director of N.M.V (Video Edition and Distribution) in 1990, and then in 1992 became Editorial and Marketing Director at the video companies Fil à Film/Les Films de Ma Vie. He was nominated in 1992 Director General of the French Union of Video Publishers (SEV) and joined the Management Committee of the International Video Federation (IVF, Brussels). He was voted President of the IVF in january 1998, and was yearly re-elected, until he stepped down after a ten-year presidency. He chaired the PEVE (Perspective de l’Edition Video Européenne), which he set up in 1992, an event supported both by the Media Programme of the European Commission and the CNC (France), until he relinquished the presidency in 2007. Jean-Paul Commin joined France Télévisions Distribution in 1999 as Head of the Publishing Division (video, records, music publishing, books, merchandising) and became Chief Operating Officer in 2002, a responsibility he held until mid 2008. In addition, during 2004-2006, he was President of the Steering Committee for the Executive body of the European Audiovisual Observatory (Council of Europe). Currently, he is Counsel and member of the Bureau of ADEF (French Film Exporters Association), Chargé d’Affaires for the production company Les Armateurs (Kirikou, Les Triplettes de Belleville), member of the Educational Committee to the Cultural Industry Master (ESC, Dijon) and a cinema, animation and multimedia Expert with Poitou Charentes Cinéma.

-Barbara Tonelli – Touscoprod (France):
After her studies and a position at the European Council, Barbara worked as a PR for Minerva Pictures Group / Raro Video. In 2007, she became an associate producer at Art'Mell. Today, she is the content manager and co-founder of touscoprod, the first crowdfunding platform for independent movie projects (www.touscoprod.com). By helping these projects (from 15€), members of touscoprod become coprod, get access to exclusive content and advantages (invitation to the shooting, DVD, meetings with the cast & crew, movie premieres, etc.) and get a share of the earnings made by the film.
-Alessandro Raja – Festival Scope (France): former Director of Sales of CELLULOID DREAMS. In Paris since 2003 to collaborate with COPRODUCTION OFFICE, after working in London for five years firstly for a festival (THE ITALIAN FESTIVAL), for a cinema (THE EVERYMAN) and then for an independent distributor (ARTIFICIAL EYE).
-Mathilde Henrot - Festival Scope (France): she recently held the position as Director of Sales for MK2, where she worked for eight years, also handling acquisitions for international sales.
-Gergő Csikos - Cinefil Co (Hungary):
After graduating in International Management, business, communication & public relations, and writing a Thesis on “the future of distribution and cinemas in the age of digitalization” Gergő started to work at Digipost, a Film Production Company where he was camera operator, editor and director assistant. In 2010, he co-founded Cinefil-Co, a community-based independent Film distribution company
-Peter Buckingham - UK Film Council (UK):
Peter Buckingham has 30 years experience in the film industry at all levels of the business. He started as a cinema projectionist and quickly worked his way up in the commercial sector to managerial positions in exhibition and distribution. In both sectors he has performed almost every position it is possible to do. Most of his career has been spent as a hands on leader – either as a director or managing director of a division or a company. He has a huge and deep knowledge of all aspects of these two sectors. This combined with the close proximity in many cases with UK production – especially in his time at FilmFour (channel 4) made him a comparatively unique candidate for the position at the UK Film Council to be head of Distribution and Exhibition. In this capacity he has developed deep radical and far reaching strategies to achieve an extremely difficult objective – namely to encourage more and more people to watch a wider range of films across the UK. To achieve this objective he focussed on two key principles. Firstly always
7 concentrate on what the audience is wanting and thinking. Secondly be open to new opportunities that are arising in the digital world to achieve that goal. These two principles have lead to ground breaking projects such as the Digital Screen network and www .finanyfilm.com both world first projects in the UK.

Graduated from Reims Management School in 2007, Carolyn Occelli has been working in the marketing departement of Haut et Court Distribution for 4 years. Specifically in charge of the online strategy, she has been taking an active part in the distribution strategy and planning, and in the elaboration and implementation of the promotional materials of more than 40 film releases in France, including the 2008 Palme d'Or award winner "Entre les murs" ("The Class").
-Henk Cluytens – O'Brother (Belgium):
He is former programmer of the Belgian cinema group Studio Filmtheaters. He joined O'Brother where he is in charge of the distribution.
O’BROTHER DISTRIBUTION brought and will bring the following films by VERSUS PRODUCTION to the Belgian screens: SIMON KONIANSKI by Micha Wald (selected for the Rome Film Festival 2009); ILLEGAL by Olivier Masset‐Depasse (Director’s Fortnight in Cannes 2010, SACD price, Valois d’Or at the Angoulème Film Festival and the Belgian entry for the Oscars); LES GEANTS by Bouli Lanners (filming); AIMER A PERDRE LA RAISON by Joachim Lafosse (with Gérard Depardieu, Tahar Rahim and Emilie Dequenne, in pre-‐production), THE INVADER by Nicolas Provost (in pre-‐producton); TOKYO FIANCEE by Stefan Liberski, based on the best selling novel Nid’Eveni d’Adam by Amélie Nothomb... O’BROTHER DISTRIBUTION has also assured the Belgian release of international co- productions such as THE WOLBERG FAMILY by Axelle Ropert (Director’s Fortnight in Cannes 2009) and BLACK HEAVEN by Gilles Marchand (Official Selection Cannes 2010). They released MAMMUTH (Benoît Delépine & Gustave Kervern) and in November KILL ME PLEASE (Olias Barco) will follow. They acquired THE HOUSEMAID (Im Sang-Soo), the
8 Korean movie of the Official Selection in Cannes, which received the George Delerue Price for best music at the International Film Festival of Flanders‐Ghent in Belgium.
-Laurent Dutoit - Agora (Switzerland):
Laurent Dutoit started working at Agora Films at its foundation in 1999 and is now the CEO of company. Agora Films is one of the last distribution companies based in the French part of Switzerland. It releases 12 to 15 films per year (fictions and documentaries) and focuses mostly on European "arthouse films" which has become the trademark of the company. For about 6 years, Laurent Dutoit has also been in charge of programming most of the independent cinemas in Geneva. He is responsible for 4 "arthouse cinemas" (7 screens), 2 of which are part of the Europa Cinemas network. Besides the distribution and the programming, he is a very active member of several working groups and associations such as Europa Distribution and the swiss branch of the CICAE and he is currently collaborating to develop a strategy for the financing of the digital infrastructures in Switzerland. Considered by the film industry has an expert, Laurent Dutoit is regularly invited to participate to important conferences and workshops at national and european levels.

-Pierre-Alexandre Labelle - Under the milky way (France):
Pierre-Alexandre Labelle has more than 10 years of professional experience in Europe, Asia, and North America. He immigrated in France in 2001 and worked as a derivatives trader for Cargill (2001-2004). After gaining experience in various Film production companies as an intern/assistant, he then joined the VoD Platform project Universcine. He played an active role in its creation and development as project manager and then as Head of Marketing and International Development. (2005-2008).
In parallel, in 2007, he launched the Glitner Pilot Project (collaborative platform for European VoD rights-holders). In 2009, he was appointed Deputy Manager of the European Producers Club.
In 2010, the Glitner Project was acquired by the Independent Pan-European Digital Association (IPEDA), a European rights-holder association (Trust-Nordisk, Pathé, Gaumont, Docuzone, etc.) working for a healthy development of VoD in Europe, and increase circulation of content across borders. He founds « Under The Milky Way », a company dedicated to digital distribution and marketing both in France and Internationally.
Pierre-Alexandre graduated from McGill University with a B.Comm in International Management (2000), and obtained the title of « Derivatives Market Specialist » from the « Canadian Securities Institute » (2002).

-Marijn Duijvestein - KEA European Affairs (Belgium):
Marijn Duijvestein is consultant at KEA European Affairs, specialising in new media, audiovisual policy analysis, market analysis, and project development. He has worked on several studies on Video-on-Demand, and has developed proposals for audiovisual training projects under MEDIA Mundus among others. Marijn has a Masters in Business Administration from the Rotterdam School of Management in which he specialised in digital business models for music. He has worked as an assistant to Dutch film productions (and a million other jobs) before taking his ambitions in film to Brussels.
-Efe Cakarel – MUBI (UK):
Efe founded MUBI, a film website, after he discovered that he couldn't watch 'In the Mood for Love' in a café in Tokyo. Previously, Efe was with Goldman Sachs in London and New York, where he worked on IPOs, mergers and acquisitions, and private equity investments. He earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT, and MBA from Stanford.
10 -Michael Werner - Non Stop Sales (Sweden)
Stockholm University; law and economy and thereafter Diploma in Marketing & Communication from IHM Business school, Stockholm. After 5 years with Scandinavian Airlines including 1 year in-house leadership training I entered the film business in 1985 first as product manager Scandinavian video distribution at Vestron Video (had the big hit with Dirty Dancing) and since 1988 within world sales. More than 10 years at Nordisk Film and thereafter at NonStop Sales since 2000.
-Jonathon Perchal - Artificial Eye (UK)
Jonathon did a double honours undergraduate degree in political science and economics. He then studied law at Osgoode Hall Law School and McGill University in Canada and completed his masters of law at the London School of Economics and Political Science. He has also completed a diploma course in media studies specializing in cinema and a diploma course in film journalism. He is also a fully qualified Shiatsu therapist. Jonathon has worked in the film industry for over 20 years in a variety of roles (mostly acquisitions and business affairs) in distribution, sales and production. He has worked in United States, Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom. His first film job in the UK was at PolyGram Filmed Entertainment where he worked on such films as Elizabeth and Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. Since then he has worked for Universal Pictures, Momentum, Icon, Content and now Artificial Eye. He was also executive producer on a number of films including Mr Right.
-Ricardo Torres - Vértice Cine (Spain)
Ricardo Torres, Head of Digital Distribution for Vértice Cine S.L., film distribution arm of Spanish audiovisual group Vértice 360º. He has worked positioning Vértice Cine as a leading independent film company in digital distribution in Spain, partnering with key platforms such as Microsoft Zune and Sony Playstation. Master of Arts in Economics at PUC (Brazil) in 1998, and specialized in Business and Management of Entertainment at University of California Extension (USA) in 2002, he has worked in the asset management industry prior to moving into the entertainment industry in 2003, with an experience in the music industry as Strategic Marketing Manager for EMI Music Brazil, and film distributor for Notro Films, subsequently acquired by Vértice 360º.

Michael Gubbins is a journalist and consultant, specialising in digital change in the film and the wider media. He was formerly editor of Screen International and has written for newspapers and magazines, including The Times and Time Out. He has also made frequent appearances on television, including the BBC's flagship film programme, ABC News and Channel Four. Gubbins has spoken at more than 50 festivals and events, including Cannes, Berlin, Rotterdam and Hong Kong and has chaired major events including debates at Europa Cinemas, the European Film Market and the European Parliament. He is on a member of advisory board of Power To The Pixel and BAFTA Learning And Events and a director of the Screenwriters Festival. He has acted as a consultant or written reports for bodies including the UK Film Council, the Swedish Film Institute and CineRegio.

-Régine Vial - Les Films du Losange (France):
She started as a French teacher and running the theatre Le France in Saint Etienne. She also directed two movies for children in 16mm. From 1983 to 1986, she worked for Gaumont as manager of the school division. Since 1986, she is responsible of the distribution for the Films du Losange. She participated to several commissions for the CNC: selective help for distribution, selective production support, help to the cinematographies with small diffusion, help to the classification of art-house theatres. Since 2006, she is also vice president of Europa Distribution with Antonio Medici.
-Christine Eloy – Cineart (Belgium):
After graduating in Anthropology at the ULB (Université Libre de Bruxelles) Christine started to work for an event organization company, then for a pool of european televisions. In 2000 she joined Cineart where she is now heading the sales department. Cineart exists from more than 35 years and is one of the leading independent distributors in the Benelux with titles such as SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE, LE SILENCE DE LORNA, THE TREE, TAMARA DREWE, UN HOMME QUI CRIE.
-John Dick – EACEA/MEDIA Programme (Belgium):
With a background in Home Entertainment, John Dick ran the European EVE project at the Irish Film Institute from 1990 until 1996 when he moved to Brussels with D&S Media GmbH. Initially overseeing the Theatrical Distribution schemes of the MEDIA Programme,
12 the company expanded to take in the entire programme in 2001 with John as Managing Director. In 2006 John joined the Education, Culture and Audiovisual Executive Agency in Brussels. He is current Head of Sector for Distribution in the MEDIA Programme unit of the Agency.
-Luis Froes – Valentim (Portugal):
Started working in 1973. 1986 – PUBLIVIDEO: Sales Manager (Home Vídeo) distributing catalogues of 20th Century Fox and Columbia Pictures. 1991 FILMES CASTELLO LOPES: Sales Manager (Home Vídeo) distributing catalogues of 20th Century Fox, MGM, Miramax International. 1998 LNK AUDIOVISUAIS: Commercial Manager such as responsable for acquisitions distributing on Vídeo catalogues of 20th Century Fox and MGM such as a lot of independents. On theatrical distributing movies from New Line, Miramax, Focus, Pathe, Lions Gate, Mandate among others. In 2002 was promoted to Chief Coordinator of the company overseeing the whole company's operation and reporting directly to the Board. 2008 VC Multimedia General Manager reporting to the Board, supervising and coordinating the entire Film Distribution and also responsable for acquisitions.

Synopsis :
The story of 39-year-old Russian-born Tania, and her fight to avoid deportation from Belgium, where she has lived for many years and is an integrated member of society. During a police check, she is arrested and locked up in a detention centre, while her son manages to escape. Tania thus begins a fight to preserve her dignity, identity and humanity, as well as find her son.
