VP of Community Tanya Sexton — VP Fund Development Services Kristi Yates FINANCE VP of Finance ‘Treasurer’ is a term most of us recognize as someone who handles deposits, writing checks for bills, and basically making sure the cash in the bank is what it should be. This position within Lana Hurst JLAC became ‘VP of Finance’ in 2012 after learning that most Junior Leagues use the term. As our League is evolving so is this position. Deposits, checks, and account management are still Corresponding crucial but ‘VP of Finance’ best reflects the actual duties as this position is responsible for all aspects of the League’s finances such as ensuring federal taxes are filed and working with our Secretary accountant to conduct an Annual Review. The woman in this position creates the yearly budget Carrie Clonts and updates the League’s expenses against the plan. Financial reporting is becoming a monthly tool given to the Board of Director’s as well as Expense reports for any VP who is responsible for managing expenses of an event or program. Financial literacy of our League will ensure Recording Secretary your Board of Director’s understand what we can achieve now and what we strive to achieve in Amanda Martin the future! Holly Clonts VP Hospitality Virginia Hayes Virginia Hayes—VP of Hospitality OCTOBER NEWSLETTER ACTIVE MEMBER SPOTLIGHT We are very fortunate to have Lindsay Hendley as a member of Junior League. Lindsay was born and raised in Annis- ton, AL and now lives here with her adorable daughter and husband. Lindsay joined the Junior League in 2010 as the president of her Provisional class and has been a great asset to our organization ever since. Lindsay is dependable and has a passion for the work we do as a league. Some fun facts about Lindsay are: Lindsay likes Pirates because they have great costumes and fun accents, she enjoys mixing sweet and salty foods like Ben and Jerry’s “Up All Night” ice cream with potato chips. If Lindsay could go anywhere she would go to the UK because she is a “history geek” and loves castles, cathedrals, and battle sites. If Lindsay could be any animal she would be a bird because she has a fear of heights, but would like to soar up high, fearlessly. Another fear of her’s is public speaking, but we’re so glad that does not stop her from sharing her wonderful ideas to make our league better. Thanks for all you do, Lindsay!
