The monarch stripped Prince Mohammed Bin Nayef from his title as Crown Prince and from his powerful position as the country’s Interior Minister overseeing security. The announcements were made in a series of royal decrees carried on the state-run Saudi Press Agency. The all-but-certain takeover of the throne by Mohammed Bin Salman awards near absolute powers to a prince who has ruled out dialogue with rival Iran, has moved to isolate neighboring Qatar for its support of Islamist groups and who has led a war in Yemen that has killed thousands of civilians. (Reuters) STAR OF THE DAY Mo Farah of Great Britain Today’s Star of the Day is Britain’s Mo Farah, who shrugged off an early fall to cement his place in the pantheon of distance greats by retaining his Olympic 10,000m title with a blis- tering final lap. Farah ran a superb tactical race before obliterating the opposition in the final stretch to became the first British runner to win three Olympic titles. He is now the favourite to add a fourth in the 5,000m next week. The second half of the race was a masterclass in dis- tance running by Farah, who was accidentally tripped with 16 laps to go by American training partner Galen Rupp but picked himself up and surged through the field to claim victory in 27 minutes 5.17 seconds.
