As such, Larnaka is abundant in historic and archaeological places, museums and ancient places of faith. But behind the well-known attractions, Larnaka’s narrow streets are filled with hidden gems. This booklet, which is issued for the twentieth consecutive year, aims to assist you in discovering Larnaka “behind the scenes”. Recommendations on new points of interest, events which will entertain you and get you acquainted with the Cypriot culture and of course, valuable tips from the locals. Every piece of Larnaka offers something special and we want to show it to our esteemed visitors. What I personally love about Larnaka is the fact that it has the atmosphere of a small city and the convenience of a metropolitan area. A city with a con- tinuous and uninterrupted history. Larnaka is the third largest city of the Republic of Cyprus in terms of population. It hosts the main international airport, a port and a nice marina for yachts. It has clean sandy beaches with clear blue waters and an efficient tourist infrastruc- ture. The town is organized with everything that a large city can offer. The development plan of the city is extremely ambitious and it is already turning the wider Larnaka area into a field of investments and opportunities. The regeneration projects will unify the city center promenade with the popular palm tree –finikoudes pleasure and entertainment area. Furthermore, a number of other projects in the city are already under materialization and I urge you to find out about them by enjoying a walk in the city. Larnaka is worth visiting! The present report on the United Nations operation in Cyprus covers developments from 25 November 2006 to 25 May 2007, and brings up to date the record of activities carried out by the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) pursuant to Security Council resolution 186 (1964) and subsequent Council resolutions, the most recent being resolution 1728 (2006). 2. As at 30 April 2007, the strength of the military component stood at 856 all ranks and the strength of the police component stood at 64 (see annex). II. Mission of good offices and other developments 3. On 15 December, the Security Council adopted resolution 1728 (2006), by which, inter alia, it expressed full support for the process agreed upon by the Greek Cypriot leader, Tassos Papadopoulos, and the Turkish Cypriot leader, Mehmet Ali Talat, on 8 July 2006, and encouraged active participation in bicommunal discussions as described in the letter dated 15 November 2006 from the then Under-Secretary-General Ibrahim Gambari, to which both leaders had responded positively, under the auspices of my Special Representative. The Security Council called for the early completion of the preparatory phase so that a fully fledged good offices process might resume as soon as possible. At the same time, the Council regretted the continued lack of trust between the parties, which had prevented the implementation of the 8 July agreement. 4. Over the past six months, my Special Representative has continued efforts aimed at facilitating the implementation of the 8 July agreement (see S/2006/572) through intensive discussions with the two leaders and their representatives.

Initially, this term was used to refer to S E I N N I T M C carbonate rocks (limestone, dolomite and 19 50 marble), afterwards it included sulphate rocks (gypsum and anhydrites). Eventually the term expanded to also include the halite (salt) sediments. Karstic processes result in the creation of surface Sinkhole at Aradippou and underground cavities. Each cavity may have a different shape (circular or linear), size (small or large), depth (shallow or deep) and, of course, genesis type. The most common structures are KARSTIC sinkholes, usually of spherical shape, accompanied by ground subsidence (due to PHENOMENA - stress, earthquake, rainfall etc).
