Warner Bros. TV Group CMO Lisa Gregorian to Depart at End of Year Warner Bros. TV Group CMO Lisa Gregorian to Depart at End of Year 11.09.2020 Lisa Gregorian, president and CMO, Warner Bros. Television Group and co-chair emeritus of Promax, is departing the company at the end of the year, WarnerMedia said Monday. Karen Miller, currently executive vice president, creative services, will lead marketing operations and creative services for the television group after Gregorian's departure, reporting to incoming chair, Channing Dungey, when she arrives at the company next year. RELATED: Peter Roth to Step Down as Chairman of Warner Bros. TV "Lisa shared that she feels this is the right time for her to leave Warner Bros., her professional home for more than 30 years," said Ann Sarnoff, chair and CEO, WarnerMedia Studios and Networks Group, in a statement. "She's had an incredible career here and has been responsible for some of the industry's most creative, most innovative marketing activations - from Warner Bros.' legendary LA Screenings to the most talked-about Comic-Con events to Friends 25th Anniversary to this summer's DC FanDome, where she co-led the team that created and executed this virtual fan event drawing more than 22 million visitors. I thank her for her dedication and contributions to the company and wish her the very best in what I know will be an exciting next chapter." "My three decades at Warner Bros. working with extraordinarily talented colleagues, storytellers, talent and clients from around the globe and with a kick-ass marketing team have been amazing and a dream come true," said Gregorian, also in a statement. "I'm so grateful to Peter Roth, Jeffrey Schlesinger and Ann Sarnoff for their support and look forward to the future where I am sure I will continue to be an uber fan of Warner Bros.' TV series." RELATED: The Daily Brief Podcast: How Warner Bros. Turned Comic-Con Into the Super Bowl of TV Marketing "Lisa Gregorian is the most creative, hardest working and most successful marketing executive with whom I've ever worked," said Peter Roth, chairman of the Warner Bros. Television Group. "Her outstanding talent and exquisite leadership are matched only by her passion for what she does. She is a world-class executive and will be sorely missed." Gregorian has served as president and chief marketing officer of Warner Bros. Television Group since May 2010. She had previously served as executive vice president, worldwide marketing, Warner Bros. Television Group, since September 2005. In the role, Gregorian oversees the Studio's global TV marketing unit, including creative services, distribution marketing, social, brand integrations and publicity. Her team is responsible for working with television networks and stations worldwide to maximize and fully exploit the promotional marketing and publicity opportunities for all of the Studio's television properties - including network, first-run, off-network, cable, digital and animated - produced and distributed by Warner Bros. Television Group's various production and distribution business units. Gregorian and her marketing team also work cross-divisionally with DC, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, Warner Bros. Consumer Products and The CW Television Network as well as WarnerMedia and AT&T. Prior to her role at WBTVG, Gregorian held the position of senior vice president, Warner Bros. Television Creative Services, a position created for her in April 2003. Previously, she had served as senior vice president, marketing, Warner Bros. International Television Distribution (WBITD), since October 1998, and vice president, international marketing and research, WBITD, from 1994-1998. Gregorian began her association with Warner Bros. when she joined Lorimar Telepictures in 1986 (the company was later acquired by Warner Bros.) and has held various positions there, including director, international home video and Caribbean television, and director, international research and pre-sale marketing. She is a member of the Television Academy, the National Association of Television Program Executives, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts/Los Angeles, and the Governing Body of the California CMO Collective. "For two decades, Karen has been the creative executive behind some of the most dynamic, innovative and brilliant marketing campaigns," said Gregorian of her successor. "We are all so excited about the leadership role she will now play for our TV Marketing Group, continuing with her legacy of eye-catching, award-winning work." As executive vice president, creative services, Karen Miller has led the day-to-day operations of the Warner Bros. Television Group Creative Services department, overseeing the conceptualization and design of all print and on-air advertising and promotional materials for the Studio's worldwide television marketing, sales and publicity initiatives. She began her tenure at Warner Bros. as art director for Warner Bros. International Television division. Before joining the Studio, Miller worked for Conde Nast Publishing as associate art director and graphic designer for Architectural Digest magazine. Miller has served on the board of directors for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the board of directors for The Los Angeles Conservancy. She currently serves on the board of directors for Girl Up - a global leadership development initiative, positioning girls to be leaders in the movement for gender equality. • Peter Roth Stepping Down As Chairman of Warner Bros. TV
Peter Roth Stepping Down as Chairman of Warner Bros. TV 10.18.2020 Peter Roth, chairman of the Warner Bros. Television Group, will step down from his role in early 2021, said Ann Sarnoff, chair and CEO, WarnerMedia Studios and Networks Group, on Friday. The announcement comes amidst many layoffs and departures at the media giant, which has also seen the departures of Robert Greenblatt, chairman of Warner Media Entertainment and direct to consumer, and Kevin Reilly, chief content officer of HBO Max and president of TNT, TBS and truTV, in early August. In May, Jason Kilar, the founding CEO of Hulu, was named CEO of WarnerMedia and since then, Kilar has been streamlining teams across WarnerMedia and doubling down on new streaming service HBO Max. Earlier this month, the Wall Street Journal reported that thousands of additional layoffs were likely coming to the company. "Peter and I have been meeting for some time about this, and while there's never a great moment to say goodbye, he felt that this was the right time to transition in a new leader for the group," said Sarnoff in a statement. "He's delivered hundreds of shows, thousands of episodes, millions of viewers, with one singular vision - to work with the best people and to make the best television series. In addition to being well respected by his colleagues and competitors, actors, writers, directors and producers, he is the force behind iconic, pop-culture-defining television shows we all know and love, including The West Wing, The Big Bang Theory, Gilmore Girls, Two And A Half Men, Gossip Girl, Supernatural, The Flash and countless others.

SPORTS & ENTERTAINMENT LAW JOURNAL ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITY VOLUME 9 FALL 2019 ISSUE 1 MEDIA MOGULS RISKING IT ALL: CONTRACT CLAUSES IN THE ENTERTAINMENT BUSINESS IN THE AGE OF #METOO RICK G. MORRIS* ABSTRACT This article explores the ability of entertainment companies to respond to the salacious misconduct or bad behavior of their talent and leaders through the perspectives of corporate ownership, impacted employees, business partners, and the victims of the misconduct. The article examines the history of social trouble in the media caused at both the individual and corporate level, and how such social trouble can lead to irreparable reputational and financial damage. This article proposes that entertainment companies should consistently implement and apply morals clauses in talent and leadership contracts as a solution to this post-Weinstein problem. While morals clauses can be wielded as a sword against risky talent, this article identifies three challenges that morals clauses face including pushback from unions, negotiations to soften morals clauses, and the prior status quo that permitted free speech and industry practices to rationalize and ignore misconduct. Finally, this article will urge entertainment companies to be proactive in protecting their reputation, their employees, and their very * Rick G.
