  • August 10, 2021 the Honorable Nancy Pelosi the Honorable Steny
August 10, 2021 The Honorable Nancy Pelosi The Honorable Steny Hoyer Speaker Majority Leader U.S. House of Representatives U.S. House of Representatives Washington, D.C. 20515 Washington, D.C. 20515 Dear Speaker Pelosi and Leader Hoyer, As we advance legislation to rebuild and renew America’s infrastructure, we encourage you to continue your commitment to combating the climate crisis by including critical clean energy, energy efficiency, and clean transportation tax incentives in the upcoming infrastructure package. These incentives will play a critical role in America’s economic recovery, alleviate some of the pollution impacts that have been borne by disadvantaged communities, and help the country build back better and cleaner. The clean energy sector was projected to add 175,000 jobs in 2020 but the COVID-19 pandemic upended the industry and roughly 300,000 clean energy workers were still out of work in the beginning of 2021.1 Clean energy, energy efficiency, and clean transportation tax incentives are an important part of bringing these workers back. It is critical that these policies support strong labor standards and domestic manufacturing. The importance of clean energy tax policy is made even more apparent and urgent with record- high temperatures in the Pacific Northwest, unprecedented drought across the West, and the impacts of tropical storms felt up and down the East Coast. We ask that the infrastructure package prioritize inclusion of a stable, predictable, and long-term tax platform that: Provides long-term extensions and expansions to the Production Tax Credit and Investment Tax Credit to meet President Biden’s goal of a carbon pollution-free power sector by 2035; Extends and modernizes tax incentives for commercial and residential energy efficiency improvements and residential electrification; Extends and modifies incentives for clean transportation options and alternative fuel infrastructure; and Supports domestic clean energy, energy efficiency, and clean transportation manufacturing.

  • Democratic Party of Georgia 2020 Victory Report
Democratic Party of Georgia 2020 Victory Report JOIN THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY OF GEORGIA georgiademocrat.org mobilize.us/georgiademocrats Follow us: @georgiademocrat A letter from Chair Congresswoman Nikema Williams In 2020 and 2021, Georgia Democrats made history. After delivering 16 electoral college votes for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, flipping the only red-to-blue Congressional seat in the country with Rep. Carolyn Bourdeaux, and electing Jon Ossoff and Rev. Raphael Warnock to secure the Democratic Senate majority, it is no exaggeration to say that Georgia voters permanently changed the trajectory of this country. Looking back to November 3 and January 5, it’s easy to speculate that these wins were the result of a miracle, a well-timed news cycle, or one candidate or campaign. But let’s be clear — Georgia Democrats and organizers across our state had been building towards this moment for years. These victories are neither a fluke nor simply demographic destiny, but instead the result of years of building and a relentless commitment to the vision of uplifting every voter, protecting every vote, and organizing year round to empower the diverse coalitions that make up Georgia. When I took office as chairwoman, Georgia Democrats Georgia Democrats are had just finished the closest election in history, and as positioned to build on a party, we knew it would take new, strategic planning our success; grow our and early investment to close the gap. Together, we used the lessons from 2018 to build the strong, investments in organizing, year-round organization that would turn Georgia voter protection, and blue, empower a diverse coalition of voters, and coalition-building; and ultimately treat every day like Election Day.

  • February 9, 2021 the Honorable Nancy Pelosi the Honorable Chuck
February 9, 2021 The Honorable Nancy Pelosi The Honorable Chuck Schumer Speaker Majority Leader U.S. House of Representatives U.S. Senate The Honorable Mitch McConnell The Honorable Kevin McCarthy Minority Leader Minority Leader U.S. Senate U.S. House of Representatives Dear Speaker Pelosi, Majority Leader Schumer, Leader McConnell, and Leader McCarthy: As people across the country struggle to pay rent and put food on the table, we write to express our strong opposition to reducing access to economic impact payments in the next COVID-19 relief package. Narrowing eligibility requirements for these Economic Impact Payments (“survival checks”) from previously established levels found in the bipartisan CARES Act and the second stimulus package will hurt millions of families and our nation’s recovery. Reducing eligibility of economic impact payments would exclude many people from crucial, much-needed relief. Economic impact payments would likely use 2019 tax data to measure an individual’s income. However, this data does not reflect the fact that millions of people lost their jobs in 2020, due to COVID-19—the very condition that necessitates survival checks. In addition, millions more suffered reduction in hours or pay, experienced contracts being cancelled or lost a business. Data from people who filed for unemployment shows that more than 20 percent of those earning between $50,000 and $70,000 were food insecure.1 This is a 16 percent increase from 2019 and explains why food banks across the country are struggling to serve communities.2 In addition, survival checks are the sole opportunity for many people to bridge the economic crisis they face.

  • July 1, 2021 the Honorable Joseph R. Biden, Jr. President the White House 1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW Washington, DC 20500 Dear
July 1, 2021 The Honorable Joseph R. Biden, Jr. President The White House 1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW Washington, DC 20500 Dear President Biden, Thank you for your strong leadership as we work together to help the American people recover from the health and economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. The American Rescue Plan provided long overdue aid to our constituents. Now, we must live up to our promise to put millions back to work while rebuilding our infrastructure, expanding access to health care, and improving our nation’s environmental resiliency. In particular, our constituents would benefit economically from the ambitious and much-needed climate action envisioned under the American Jobs Plan. The proposal outlines a popular agenda that involves transforming our energy, transportation and water systems; increasing our nation’s climate resilience; retrofitting schools and buildings with clean energy and efficient technologies; providing clean water to all; and restoring and increasing access to nature. Not only will these components of the plan create jobs in our communities, but they will also at long last catapult our nation’s infrastructure into the 21st century. With this in mind, we want to strongly underscore our support for the following components of the American Jobs Plan as you work towards a final agreement on the package this summer: Driving the United States towards a 100 percent carbon-free energy powered electricity grid, and new cars, buses, and buildings by 2035. The robust ten-year tax title outlined in the Made in America Tax Plan is a critical part of this effort. Complementary policies such as a clean energy and energy efficiency standard, major electric vehicle purchasing, charging infrastructure, manufacturing incentives, and bolstering clean energy research and development are also crucial to this goal.

Travel advisors vary in size from the smallest home-based agent to storefront agencies in every state and Congressional district to the large travel management companies such as Carlson Wagonlit to household-name online agencies like Expedia.
