There is an irony that RIC made sure that these lines would close using justifiable economic argument. A devious process of minimal or nil maintenance was used to make them unprofitable for use by rail operators. This is an age old tactic. The NSW State Government shows contempt of the well established need to re-develop the State's rural, regional and remote rail network. The copious millions of dollars to be spent on 's transport network is proof of this. It is totally unethical and immoral that local government should have to pay to prove to government the viability of such a major link in the State's transport infrastructure, which is State owned anyway. The Rudd Government is not exempt from criticism either, as among the many 2007 election promises was that of funding national transport infrastructure, including rail, which has shrunk now to only that of the high density strife riddled metropolitan areas. Lachlan Regional Transport Committee has argued for over 13 years that the corporate control of rail infrastructure will ensure that rail use will not increase while road use will increase, exponentially. Yours sincerely
