    Survey: Both Democrats and GOP love 'This Is Us,' 'Game of Thrones' BY JUDY KURTZ - 03/03/20 © Courtesy of HBO The country may be more politically polarized than ever, but there are at least a couple things that both Democrats and Republicans agree on: They dig "This is Us" and "Game of Thrones." The NBC drama and former HBO fantasy series were some of the top picks on both sides of the aisle, according to a recent survey from E-Poll Market Research. Fifty-five percent of Democrats counted "This is Us" as their fave broadcast TV show, along with 68 percent of Republicans. Fifty-two percent of Democrats and 47 percent of Republicans surveyed also listed "Chicago Med" as one of their top TV picks. Other popular choices among Democrats included "Supernatural," Fox's "9-1-1" and "The Rookie," while Republicans said they delighted in "Grey's Anatomy," "Last Man Standing" and Chicago PD." The two parties had more than half of the top 20 TV shows in common, but there were a few notable differences among their boob tube choices. The results show that, of the Americans surveyed, Democrats prefer getting more laughs from their small screen fare, picking seven sitcoms as their favorites, compared to the GOP respondents' three comedy shows. A separate survey of top streaming and cable shows found that Democrats preferred Starz's "Power," with 63 percent of those surveyed naming it as their favored show, and "Game of Thrones," with 51 percent. Thompson 2006 Edited By Robyn Goforth (2009), Tyler Eastman (2012) PREFACE The American Heritage Center holdings include a wealth of material on women's issues as well as numerous collections from women who gained prominence in national and regional affairs. The AHC, part of the University of Wyoming (the only university in the "Equality State") continues a long tradition of collecting significant materials in these areas. The first great collector of materials at the University, Dr. Grace Raymond Hebard, was herself an important figure in the national suffrage movement, as materials in her collection indicate. Hebard's successors continued such accessions, even at times when many other repositories were focusing their attentions on "the great men." For instance, they collected diaries of Oregon Trail travelers and accounts of life when Wyoming was even more of a frontier than it is today. Another woman, Lola Homsher, was the first formally designated University archivist and her efforts to gain materials from and about women accelerated during the service of Dean Krakel, Dr. Gene Gressley, and present director Dr. Michael Devine. As a result of this work, the AHC collections now contain the papers of pioneering women in the fields of journalism, film, environmental activism, literature, and politics, among other endeavors.

    A Bronx Tale Synopsis A Bronx Tale, a new musical set in the early 1960s, is based on the autobiographical play written by Chazz Palminteri. It tells the coming-of-age story of Calogero Anello, a young boy from a working class family who finds himself caught between his loving father and a charismatic mob boss. In Act One, Calogero witnesses Sonny, the mob boss, murdering someone right in front of his house on Belmont Avenue; Calogero covers for Sonny when questioned by the NYPD. Calogero’s father, Lorenzo, who is an MTA bus driver, wants to instill a strong sense of right and wrong in his son, but Calogero goes against his father’s wishes. After Sonny is released by the police with no charges against him, he takes Calogero under his wing and helps him get involved with the “glamorous” world of organized crime. Sometime later, Calogero is all grown up and a full prodigy of Sonny, but his father has no idea he has continued to see Sonny. Calogero has also developed a group of Italian- American friends that Sonny thinks is a bad influence over him and encourages Calogero to stick to his schoolwork. Calogero meets an African-American girl, Jane, on Webster Avenue which is a very different side of the Bronx than where Calogero lives. He asks his father for advice on what he should do when he and Jane go on a date. Calogero’s father doesn’t exactly approve of him going out with Jane because he is concerned for his son’s safety, considering the high racial tensions on the time period, but Lorenzo still gives him advice.

This is another film that has a 10% score on Rotten Tomatoes which just leads me to believe that all of the critics who were popular in the nineties didn’t have a single shred of humor in any of their non-existent funny bones. I loved this movie when I was seven, and I love it even more when I’m thirty-three. It’s genius. Martin Short (who at the time was forty-four) plays a ten-year-old hyperactive nightmare child from hell. I mean it, this kid might actually be the devil. He is straight up evil, conniving, manipulative and all-told probably causes no less than ten million dollars-worth of property damage. And, again, the plot is so simple – he just wants to go to Dinosaur World. There are so many comedy films with such complicated plots and motivations for their characters, but the simplistic genius of “Clifford” is just this – all this kid wants on the entire planet is to go to Dinosaur World. That’s it. The movie starts with him and his parents on an plane to Hawaii for a business trip, and Clifford knows that Dinosaur Land is in Los Angeles, therefore he causes so much of a ruckus that the plane has to make an emergency landing.
