When you look back at 2018, which moments stand out for you?

Did you celebrate a milestone birthday, a birth, graduation or wedding in the family? Or, did you have what seemed to be an insignificant moment that later became a powerful memory?

Our patients experience big and small moments each day that define their health care experience. A young woman escapes the reality of her cancer diagnosis while she sings and plays . A father earns his certificate of completion from cardiac rehab following a heart attack. A mother takes her baby home for the holidays after a year in the hospital.

You help make these moments possible. You support their experience by giving to Marshfield Clinic Health System. In this special 2018 Gratitude Report issue, we’re celebrating all the ways you define care beyond treatment for patients we serve.

In this regard, you’ll see your best moments of 2018 on page 20, showing how you impacted patients last year. You’ll also read on page 2 about how your support of care close to home brings families like the Doines together.

On page 8, you’ll read about how you make miracles possible for this year’s Miracle Children at Marshfield Children’s Hospital – Morgan, Michael, Amaya, Isaac and Noah.

And, you will see on page 4 how your support for heart care helped Don’s life and inspired him to do even more good for others.

When you attend our events and volunteer fundraisers, you share moments of incredible impact in our communities. In this issue, you’ll read about ways that impact is felt for families across central and northern Wisconsin.

You also advance innovation through groundbreaking studies on multiple sclerosis (page 12) and support vaccine safety to keep people healthy (page 6). Those moments of discovery happen because of you.

With your help, moments like these and so many more add to enrich lives for our patients. So please know that as we reflect on 2018 and look forward to tomorrow, we are thankful for you.

With gratitude, P.S. You enrich lives in amazing ways by supporting Marshfield Clinic Health System. That’s why moving forward, we want you to know more about the patients you help. You’ll see changes in BenchMarks to better highlight your impact. Watch for a year in review “Gratitude Report” issue each spring, sharing your biggest accomplishments and highlights from the previous year. You will see two additional issues each year featuring our best stories about your gifts at work.

BenchMarks 7 2019 Miracle Children tell their stories

Every minute, 62 children enter a Children's Miracle Network (CMN) Hospital for treatment.

For those kids, your support of CMN Hospitals provides specialty care, state-of-the-art equipment, support programs and care beyond treatment.

As one of 140 CMN Hospitals in the U.S. and one of only four children’s hospitals in Wisconsin, Marshfield Children’s Hospital physicians and staff know nothing is more important than the health and happiness of our littlest patients. They offer more than 30 pediatric specialties as well as Child Life, Music Therapy and other services – for the love of kids.

Each year, children from northern and central Wisconsin are chosen locally to represent kids treated at Marshfield Children’s Hospital. This year, our Miracle Children – Morgan, Michael, Amaya, Isaac and Noah – have their own stories to share and one thing in common.
