PEOPLE People are at the core of what we do Welcome to the 2016/2017 Annual Report

Victorian Road Series average 320 participants per event

Victorian Cyclocross had Interschool a 30% increase Cycling Series in participation 35% growth across the state series Victorian Schools Cycling Championships 2216 students participated Building a love of cycling is at the heart of Cycling Victoria, it drives our work and our passion.

The 2016/2017 year was a significant year for cycling. We have seen growth in non-traditional areas and decline in some of our foundation offerings. There is no doubt that traditional cycling clubs are being impacted by changing expectations around amenities, race offerings and participants time limitations. This impact is further exacerbated with cycling expansion into the digital space enabling cyclists to compete in their own lounge rooms in virtual communities where progress is tracked and rewarded.

With this in mind we have begun to reframe how we think about cycling. Cycling is a life skill, a life style choice and means of transport for many. It is a proven pathway to health and wellbeing, and our clubs can, and do, offer so much more than racing. They offer the opportunity to belong, to be a part of something greater than yourself and the chance to connect with community. We are a sport that is steeped in culture and tradition but we are more than a sport, we are an active pursuit for people that provides a fun, social outlet, that is also an important life skill. We are more than a sport. 1.
