Health Service Violence Prevention Fund Rounds 1, 2 and 3 Acute Health and Mental Health The Victorian Government has allocated $17 million in three rounds of funding for capital works to prevent violence in public health services. Funding has been allocated as follows: Round one: 2015–16 $3 million for violence prevention projects to health facilities, with half going to acute and half to mental health services. Round two: 2016–17 $7 million between acute and mental health services for violence prevention Round three: 2017–18 $7 million to health services for safety improvements in acute and mental health wards. Details of the projects are detailed in this document. We encourage members to report back to ANMF via anmfvic.asn.au/hsvpf on the status of projects in rounds 1, 2 and 3. anmfvic.asn.au/hsvpf 2015–16 Health Service Violence Prevention Fund Round 1 | Acute Health Region Health Service Hospital / Campus/ Project scope / replacement asset Community Health Centre Metropolitan Austin Health Austin Hospital – Emergency Fixed duress buttons to ambulance triage entry, CCTV in Department assessment area and upgrade of existing CCTV in central monitor at staff base. Djerriwarrh Health Bacchus Marsh Hospital – Installing a more direct route from the hospital to the car Services external area park. Installing lighting and security cameras. Bacchus Marsh Hospital Installing building access control to external doors and – Hospital Access Control some internal doors located in the main hospital building System and the administration building. Mercy Health Werribee Mercy Hospital Installation of CCTV, duress buttons, reel switches and (Outpatients Department) keypads to external and internal doors to facilitate controlled entry via swipe card, and addition of a press button at main foyer for general egress. Monash Health Cranbourne Care CCTV system at Cranbourne Care entrance and foyer. Entrance to Main Building Peter MacCallum Cancer Main campus and community Implementation of personal duress devices for hospital Centre staff that work in the community (Peter Mac @ Home) and hospital staff who work alone during and after hours. Royal Woman’s Hospital Day surgery waiting room Installation of two Security Swipe Access Control Door Mechanisms for the Women’s Hospital Day Surgery Waiting Room. This provides controlled access to the operating suite complex and birth centre. Royal Victorian Eye and Cochlear Implant Clinic Installation of mobile and fixed wireless duress pendants Ear Hospital and Consulting rooms and infrastructure. St Vincent’s Hospital – Main Inpatient Services Provide electronic access control readers in medical staff Fitzroy Building offices on all levels of the main inpatient services building. Upgrade of central air conditioning system for behavioural assessment area. Western Health Sunshine and Footscray Introduction of stab resistant vest. Due to their high visibility colour will contribute to the visible presence of security team. Barwon South Heywood Rural Health Urgent Care Centre Safety glass, signage, CCTV, duress alarms, lighting. Western Gippsland Bairnsdale Regional Ward areas, Community Replace fixed wireless fixed duress system with hard wired Health Service Health Department and duress system. Executive Office Front of health service Install 3 new external day/night CCTV cameras at front of health service. Central Gippsland Health Sale Emergency Department Increase security with a separation between medical/ Service Critical Care Unit nursing and administrative staff within the Emergency Car Park Department. Increased CCTV and lighting in carpark, addition of duress alarms, structural changes in the Emergency Department and Critical Care Unit and specialist consulting rooms. Omeo District Health Omeo Installation of lighting, front entrance camera and CCTV Monitoring and Public Signage. West Gippsland Warragul – Surgical, Issue all staff in all wards with personal duress alarms in Healthcare Group Paediatric, Medical unit and conjunction with the implementation of a code grey system Midwifery units and associated training. Warragul Paediatric Ward Installation of a swipe card access security door along the corridor, an anti-jump screen at the reception area and a swipe card access security door at the stair well. Grampians Ballarat Health Service Emergency Department Install safety glass wall, reconfigure entrance doors in waiting room. Secure reception window in current switchboard office; and install two secure auto-doors. Stawell Regional Health Urgent Care Centre and Main Upgrade of current CCTV system to digital in Urgent Care Acute Site Centre and Main Acute Site (including Radiology, Access corridors, Pharmacy, Kitchen, Dining, Education and Acute Ward). Region Health Service Hospital / Campus/ Project scope / replacement asset Community Health Centre Wimmera Health Care Dimboola Installation of a security access system, installation of Group CCTV. Horsham – Emergency Move the ambulatory entrance to the Emergency Department Department to bring the interview room in behind security doors to enable use of the room from within the secure Emergency Department treatment areas and remodel triage areas. Horsham Expand the security access system by conducting stage 2 for the security access points , network CCTV upgrade additional 13 cameras and recording equipment, site wide. Hume Goulburn Valley Health All Sites Supply and install door access controls to 57 internal and - Shepparton external doors across Goulburn sites. New cabling will be required in some sites. Nathalia District Hospital Urgent Care Centre Remove existing walls and open area (with appropriate barriers)so that clients can be seen at all time from the reception desk. Northeast Health Special Care Nursery/ Secure doors to Special Care Nursery and Paediatric Ward. Wangaratta Paediatric Ward Seymour Health Urgent Care Centre and To provide a physical separation from public access areas Ambulatory Care Centre for staff working in areas of highest risk. Install a fixed clear purpose built security screen at the Urgent Care Centre and Ambulatory Care Centre so staff remain safe from occupational violence but are still visible to patients. Yarrawonga Health Yarrawonga – Acute and Improve CCTV coverage, replace duress alarms wireless community services coverage. Loddon Mallee Castlemaine Health Castlemaine Urgent Care Installation of lockable doors between the Urgent Care Centre area and Acute Wards Nurses Station, additional CCTV camera’s and larger monitor to facilitate staff viewing and improved patient way finding. Upgrade the high dependancy area by the refurbishment of the courtyard, a drug administration cupboard/area with swipe card access (including a drug safe) and a beverage/ television space to improve visibility and improve staff and consumer safety. Eastern Health Box Hill Hospital – Acute Install security access, Closed Circuit Television and Inpatient Unit – Adult and additional doors to improve secuirty across a number of Adolescent. Maroondah Eastern Health sites. Hospital Acute Inpatient A) Upton House acute adult mental health inpatient service Unit – Adult – Swipe card access. Intensive Care area interview room door with improved egress, B) Emergency Egress / Access to the Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit Area kitchenettes in Maroondah Hospital adult Mental Health Inpatient Unts – second egress door to kitchenettes D) Adolescent Unit Intensive Care Area – swipe access to courtyard form the Intensive Care Area. Inner and Outer Eastern Purchase ‘3G Safety Watch’ devices for high risk Mental Metropolitan Mental Health Health Clinical Program Community Teams to enable one Clinical Community Care unit per vehicle.
