Who designed the Hawker Hurricane?

Sir was born in August 1893 and grew up in Windsor. He designed multiple aircraft from the Fury to the Jet-powered Harrier but it is the Hawker Hurricane for which he is most well known. Learn more about this local hero by watching our special edition wonder.

Make your own Hawker Hurricane

1. Choose which Hurricane you would like to make from the pages provided. One has been left blank for you to create your own design.

2. Create your design and add some colour.

3. Apply glue to the back making sure you cover the corners of each shape then stick the whole page to some card.

4. Cut out all the shapes using some safety scissors.

5. On each shape A, fold the tabs along the dashed lines then glue all the matching shapes together, leaving the tabs on shape A glue free for the moment.

6. Glue the tabs on shape A and stick them onto shape B.

7. Make a cut along the dotted line on Shape C and slot shapes A & C together.

8. Stick small balls of blu-tack on the nose or under the wings to balance the flight.
