The Scottish Terrier Club of America Sweepstakes is open to all Scottish Terriers between the ages of 6 months and 18 months. NO PROFESSIONAL HANDLERS WILL BE ALLOWED TO SHOW DOGS IN SWEEPSTAKES UNLESS THE DOG IS OWNED BY THE PROFESSIONAL HANDLER, A MEMBER OF THE IMMEDIATE FAMILY OR BRED BY THE HANDLER. The Sweepstakes Classes are as follows: Puppy Dogs 6 months & under 9 months Junior Dogs 9 months & under 12 months Senior Dogs 12 months & under 18 months (There will be the same classes for Bitches) For each division (Puppy, Junior and Senior), the Dogs and Bitches will be judged separately.

Order of Judging

Puppy Dogs, 6 months to 9 months, will be judged, followed by Puppy Bitches, 6 months to 9 months. The First and Second Place Dogs and First and Second Place Bitches will then compete for the four placements in the Age Division Run-Off Stakes. Junior dogs, 9 months to 12 months, will then be judged, followed by Junior Bitches, 9 months to 12 months. The First and Second Place Dogs and the First and Second Place Bitches will then compete for the four placements in the Age Division Run-Off Stakes. Senior Dogs, 12 months to 18 months, and Senior Bitches, 12 months to 18 months, will then be judged in the same order and the same manner. First place in each AGE DIVISION RUN-OFF STAKES will then compete for BEST IN SWEEPSTAKES.

After $5.00 is withheld for expenses, the entry fee money for each class will be divided as follows: 50% to the Class Winners; 50% to the Age Division Run-Off Stakes Winners and then as follows: First - 50% Second - 25% Third - 15% Fourth - 10%

Bred-By Exhibitor Class Eligibility: All dogs entered in the Bred-By Class must be individually registered with the AKC. The person handling the dog must be a breeder of record and an owner of record of this dog.

BEST OF BREED COMPETITION

Non-Regular Classes Some Non-Regular Class Judging will occur after Best of Breed Veteran Classes. Class for Dogs & Class for Bitches 7 years & over. The winners of these classes will be eligible to compete in the Best of Breed. The Veteran entry does not have to be intact to compete, nor will he or she be penalized for a less than perfect coat. The winners of the Veteran dog and bitch classes will compete for Best Veteran at the end of the Breed Judging

Stud Dog Class. For Stud Dogs and two of their Get. Stud Dogs must be entered in the Stud Dog Class and must be shown in the ring with their Get. Owners of Stud Dog need not necessarily be owner of Get. Get only to be judged, based on the merits of the Get. An entry fee will be charged for each dog making up the entry (Stud Dog and two of its Get). Brood Bitch Class. Same as Stud Dog Class except substitute Brood Bitch for Stud Dog and Produce for Get. As the Judge’s in the Stud Dog and Brood Bitch Classes will be based on the merits of more than one dog or bitch, no one of the dogs or bitches making up the entry judged first in theses Classes will be eligible for Best of Breed by virtue of having won the Class.

Award of Merit: This Award of Merit is a Rosette to recognize outstanding champions excluding those selected for Best of Breed, Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed, Select Dog and Select Bitch. Champions are the only recipients of this award. Up to 20% of the eligible dogs competing for Best of Breed may be presented with the award at the judge's discretion. The presentation of the Awards of Merit will follow the judging of Best of Breed, Best of Opposite Sex to Best of breed, Best of Winners, and Select Dog & Bitch.

STCGD CONFORMATION About AKC National Owner-Handled Series

Did you know that more than 80% of show dogs are handled by their owners? To celebrate the dedication and enthusiasm of owner-handler exhibitors the American Kennel Club has created the new AKC National Owner-Handled Series. This non-titling Regular Classes competition can be held by all conformation clubs. Puppy Dogs, 6 and under 9 months The AKC National Owner-Handled Series is conducted following Best of Breed judging Puppy Dogs, 9 and under 12 months in each breed ring. All dogs in the BOB competition (including WD & WB) will stay in Dogs, 12 and under 18 months Bred By Exhibitor Dogs the ring after the judge makes their placements in BOB competition. The ring steward will American-Bred Dogs ask all professional handlers, household members of and current assistants to a Open Dogs professional handler, and any exhibitor that did not indicate on their entry that they were Winners Dogs eligible for the AKC National Owner-Handled Series to leave the ring and then the judge Best of Breed (Same Classes for Bitches) will then select the Owner-Handled Best of Breed. The All-Breed exhibitors and guests will be utilizing the foyer space in front of their ballroom for crating purposes. The Scottish Terrier events will be held in the Ballroom space at the far end of the venue. Please use that door only to unload and enter the venue. Use caution when going to and from the event ballroom and the rest of the venue common areas and hotel.

There will be all breeds in and around the venue during these three days. Please be courteous and respectful as we host them in this, our first All Breed event weekend.
