Michael W. Doyle is a University Professor of Columbia University and former director of the Columbia Global Policy Initiative. He is affiliated with the School of International and Public Affairs, the Department of Political Science, and the Law School. His research interests include international migration, international relations theory, international law, international peace-building and the . His most recent book is the Question of Intervention (Yale University Press, 2015). From 2006 to 2013, Doyle was an individual member and then the chair of the UN Democracy Fund, a fund established in 2005 by the UN General Assembly to promote grass-roots democratization around the world. Doyle previously served as assistant secretary-general and special adviser to United Nations Secretary-General where his responsibilities included strategic planning (the “Millennium Development Goals”), outreach to the international corporate sector (the “Global Compact’) and relations with Washington. He has received two career awards from the American Political Science Association for his scholarship and public service and has been elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the American Academy for Political and Social Sciences and the American Philosophical Society. He has an A.B. and Ph.D from Harvard University and an honorary doctor of laws degree from the University of Warwick (UK). JEUDI 19 sept. Séverine Autesserre est professeur de Science Politique. Elle travaille sur la construction et le maintien de la paix, l’aide humanitaire et le conflit en République démocratique du Congo. Elle est professeure au sein de la faculté Barnard, Columbia University, où elle se spécialise dans les Relations Internationales et les études africaines. Elle a notamment publié Peaceland (Cambridge University Press, 2014), The Trouble with the Congo (Cambridge University Press, 2012), ainsi que son nouvel ouvrage à paraître On the Frontlines of Peace (Oxford University Press, 2019). Haji Bashar is from Kojo, near , . In August 2014, along with Nadia Murad, she was abducted by Islamic State from the village and forced into . She was also forced to make suicide vests. Aided by her family who paid local smugglers, she escaped in April 2016, being injured by a land mine in the process. She received medical treatment in . In October 2016, she and Murad were jointly awarded the Sakharov Prize; the ceremony took place in December 2016.

Lamiya Bashar est irakienne, issue de la communauté yézidie. Elle été persécutée et réduite en esclavage par l’État islamique, avant de réussir à s’échapper en avril 2016. Elle s’est faite la porte-parole de la communauté yézidie et a reçu le Prix Sakharov 2016 avec Nadia Murad par le Parlement européen pour la liberté de l’esprit et leur combat pour la dignité des victimes de la traite des êtres humains.
