The station is committed to programming that entertains, educates and informs.” Our listening audience includes over 150 communities that range from southern Vermont to northern Connecticut, from eastern New York State to Worcester County. Today, WFCR is a multi-media organization operating: 88.5FM WFCR; 88.5FM WFCR HD2; 640AM WNNZ; 1430AM WPNI; and wfcr.org. WFCR makes programming decisions based on our mission, our resources, benchmarking with public radio stations nationally, and various sources of listener information including: ratings data obtained through the Arbitron Company, listener e-mails, letters and phone calls, surveys, and fundraising trends. We regret that WFCR is unable to continue producing Valley Folk . We know how deeply many people feel about its host, Susan Forbes Hansen, her program and the genre of folk music . We also regret that we must discontinue purchasing and airing the nationally syndicated shows, Afropop and The Thistle and Shamrock . There are still many opportunities to hear folk music on the air. Listeners can hear Susan Forbes Hansen (former host of Valley Folk ) weekly on WHUS, 91.7 FM in Storrs, Connecticut and online at www.whus.org On WFCR, folk music is often featured on twice-weekly broadcasts of A Prairie Home Companion . WFCR also offers five on-demand folk web streams from its sister station at UMass Boston, WUMB-FM.

  • September 1, 2015 Hello Leverett
Welcome-1 September 1, 2015 Hello Leverett students and families! It is with great excitement that I welcome you all to the 2015-2016 school year at LES! This year the school is welcoming a number of new faces, both students and staff, and we all look forward to getting to know each other as the year progresses. Along with several new teachers and staff, we also welcome our new Union #28 Superintendent, Jennifer Haggerty. You will be seeing her at school events throughout the year! We also have some changes in the schoolhouse itself, including a new Parent Room, located in the front of the building near the office. This Handbook contains important information that we hope will assist you and your family during the course of the year. Please take some time and read through it carefully. The school administration and School Committee have worked hard to make the handbook both comprehensive and comprehensible, but if you have any questions, comments or suggestions, please let us know. All of the staff at LES are dedicated professionals who are committed to providing your children with the best possible educational environment in which to learn, grow and thrive. One of the great aspects of this school is its wonderfully close and supportive community of families. Family involvement in school events and activities is crucial both to student success and that of the school as a whole. Your input is valued and valuable, and your participation in school activities is critical to all of our success. This year there are many options for voluntary participation, including the Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO), which organizes events and raises funds for field trips and other important school programs.

  • Autonomous Robotic Rescue Boat Showing How the Three Main Systems Interact with Each Other
Autonomous Man Overboard Rescue Equipment A Major Qualifying Project Report: Submitted to the Faculty of the WORCESTER POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Degree of Bachelor of Science By ___________________ Frederick Hunter (RBE) ___________________ Thomas Hunter (ME and ECE) Date:_______ Approved: ______________ David Cyganski, Major Advisor _____________________ Ken Stafford, Co-Advisor i Acknowledgements We would like to thank professors Cyganski and Stafford for advising the project. Special thanks to professor Stafford for donating MINI, his inflatable Sea Rogue tender used as the rescue craft in this project. Professor Gennert, for allowing us to borrow the trolling motors from a previous autonomous kayak MQP as well as Alex Kindle and Justin Stoker for their help the documentation they have provided us from a previous version of this project. We would also like to thank our parents for putting up with the circuits and construction taking place on our kitchen table. i Abstract This project addressed the problem of rescuing people who have fallen overboard at sea. Large vessels with slow response times and limited turning capabilities are poorly equipped to handle man overboard cases. To solve this problem, a robotic rescue boat was developed with support from systems for the vessel and victim that autonomously help pilot the rescue boat via GPS, a magnetic compass, and a project-specific terminal location system. The same system also supports the return of the victim to the vessel. ii Executive Summary Ever since man has attempted to travel across the ocean there has been a risk of persons falling overboard.
