Read a book of your choice for 15 minutes. Talk with your grown ups about the READING ​ characters, setting, beginning, middle, and end.

Plants are living things. How do you know? What does a plant need to live? Make a list SCIENCE of things that plants need. If you’d like to find a plant (flower, tree, etc.) and draw a picture you can or you can take a picture.

In real life, shapes are everywhere! Think about words to describe the position of a ​ shape. The clock is a circle. It might be above the rectangular shaped table. Use MATH positional words to describe shapes in your house. Play eye spy and give clues about the shape (use words like vertices and sides) and use positional words (above, below, near,

far, next to, in between, under). For example: I spy a shape that has 0 sides and 0 ​ vertices that is above the rectangular trash can.

Striking and catching skills: Use any of the following equipment; a balloon, a pool noodle (cut in ​ half), or playground ball.

After about a week, SCIENCE open the baggie and look at your lima bean. What do you notice? Did the seed break open? Does it have roots? If so, place it in some dirt and watch it grow! (Don’t worry, if you don’t have a lima bean, we will be doing this investigation together in our video).

Non-Digital Option: Can you find any cylinders or cones in your kitchen? Draw or take ​ pictures of a few of the items you found that are in these shapes. Weather affects how the plant grows. Keep a graph of the weather for a week. Record the SCIENCE weather. Was it clear, cloudy, partly cloudy, rainy, windy, or foggy? (record the weather today through next Tuesday). Use your toys to cast a shadow onto paper. Trace the shadow and use ART your creativity/imagination to create your own scene. Remember to add the horizon line, use your perspective skills, and add those details!

Any toys will work with this method. See how creative you can be in mixing toys that don’t usually go together to create a new idea. On rainy days this can work with lamp lighting or overhead lights too. Use a variety of methods = experiment and explore!

Weather can affect what people do and what people wear . Draw a picture of what you SCIENCE would wear for rainy weather (rain coat, rain boots, umbrella). Throwing to a target: Use a small hand-sized ball or rolled up socks and water/gatorade bottles. Add water and a closed top if you want to give them some weight or use stuffed animals for a soft target.
