The Annenberg Foundation’s Radnor, Pennsylvania headquarters was established with its creation in 1989, while the Southern California office didn’t become fully operational until 2003. Four out of five of the Foundation’s Trustees live in Los Angeles County, however, and work from its Century City office. While both locations accept grant submissions from anywhere in the world, the Trustees’ presence in the region and close involvement in the organization naturally leads to support for local projects. “Our perspective is a Los Angeles one,” says Leonard Aube, Managing Director of the Annenberg Foundation’s Southern California operations. “Those of us here today were not transferred from the Radnor, Pennsylvania office. We were brought on under Wallis Annenberg’s leadership to support her philanthropy in the region primarily.” The Annenberg Foundation is the 11th largest nationwide in giving, authorizing over $250 million in grants to more than 500 nonprofit organizations in its most recently completed fiscal year. The institution ranks 18th overall in total assets nationwide with more than $2.5 billion. Though sizable, the Annenberg Foundation is a family affair. Publisher, diplomat, and philanthropist Walter H. Annenberg founded the organization in 1989. His wife, Leonore Annenberg, became President and Chairman after his passing in 2002. His daughter, Wallis Annenberg, emerged as Vice President. -

For Immediate Release Annenberg Foundation in association with KCRW presents COUNTRY IN THE CITY Three Free Concerts inspired by Annenberg Space for Photography’s current exhibit, Country: Portraits of an American Sound Performances by GREGG ALLMAN, SHELBY LYNNE, WYNONNA & THE BIG NOISE and more LOS ANGELES, CA (June 3, 2014) The Annenberg Foundation today announced Country in the City, an all ages, free concert series inspired by the Annenberg Space for Photography’s current exhibition, Country: Portraits of an American Sound. Country in the City will take place on three Saturday evenings, July 19, July 26 and August 2, in Century Park in Century City on the lawn adjacent to the Annenberg Space for Photography. Presented in association with KCRW, the concerts will be offered free to the public. Each of the concerts will require separate, advance online registration at KCRW.com. Emails will be sent to those who have registered with detailed instructions in advance of their arrival at the concert site. RSVP is required for entry. No tickets are needed. However, registered guests must collect wristbands upon arrival at check in to gain access to concerts. Million Dollar List – Scaling Philanthropy Methodology and Summary Statistics Una Osili Indiana University School of Philanthropy [email protected] School of Philanthropy Research Project Team: Jason Ward Sindhu Raghavan Reema Bhakta Michael Copple Elizabeth Farris Shannon Neumeyer Cynthia Hyatte Abstract This paper provides an explanation of the methodology behind the Million Dollar List, a unique dataset providing gift-level data on million dollar-plus charitable donations. It further provides summary statistics based on data between 2000 and 2010. Initial research into the MDL has produced a number of noteworthy findings. Million dollar giving by individuals tends to be greater on a gift-to-gift basis than that of foundations and corporations. We also find that gifts to higher education institutions dominate the number of gifts received, but these gifts tend to be relatively small as a fraction of total dollars given on the MDL. There are significant differences in per capita giving and receiving by state, due in large part to the geographic dispersion of large foundations and nonprofits. There are numerous opportunities for future studies using the MDL data, including detailed investigations into donor networks, gift dispersion based on source of donor wealth, and a study of institutional characteristics that attract million dollar plus gifts. 1 Indiana University School of Philanthropy Every culture depends on philanthropy and nonprofit organizations to provide essential elements of a civil society. RIVERSIDE COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT FOUNDATION Gift Acceptance Policy I. Introduction The Riverside Community College District Foundation is a private non-profit organization whose mission is to raise private philanthropic funding for the benefit of the Riverside Community College District (RCCD) and its Colleges. The Foundation is responsible for the solicitation and management of private gifts to RCCD. This policy is designed to help facilitate the gift-giving process and to provide guidance to the entire RCCD community, outside advisors who assist in the gift planning process and to prospective donors who wish to make gifts to the Foundation. II. General Policies A. All gifts to the Foundation will comply with IRS requirements governing nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporations. In addition, the Foundation utilizes the standards and guidelines set forth by the Council for Advancement in Support of Fundraising (CASE). B. Any formal solicitation of gifts to the Foundation will be made only by or in consultation with an authorized representative of the Foundation, including Foundation staff and members of the RCCD Foundation Board Directors. C. Only the Executive Director of the Foundation, or his/her designee, is permitted to accept gifts on behalf of the Foundation. All gift activity will be reported and reviewed regularly by the RCCD Foundation Finance Committee. D. The Foundation may reject any gift that it determines is inconsistent with the mission, goals or objectives of the Foundation, the District or Colleges, or if the gift is determined to not be in the best interests of the Foundation to accept. E. Donors should be strongly encouraged to seek the advice of independent legal and tax counsel in all matters pertaining to gifts to the Foundation. -

GLOSSARY OF NONPROFIT/FOUNDATION TERMS 501(C)(3): The section of the U.S. tax code that defines nonprofit, charitable, and tax-exempt organizations. ADMINISTRATIVE FEES: Fees assessed on a fund to cover the operating costs for each fund. AGENCY FUND: Established by a nonprofit organization for the benefit of the nonprofit organization where the profits are distributed annually to support their operations, programs, etc. ADVISORY COMMITTEE: A group of individuals, who offer advice, inform, or notify. ANNUAL REPORT: A voluntary report published by a nonprofit that provides financial data and describes its activities. ARTICLES OF INCORPORATION: A document filed with the secretary of state or other appropriate state offices by persons establishing a nonprofit. ASSETS: Cash, stocks, bonds, real estate, or other holdings of a nonprofit. Generally, assets are invested, and the income is used to support the organization’s mission. BEQUEST: A sum of money made available upon the donor's death. BYLAWS: Rules governing the operation of a nonprofit corporation. CAPITAL SUPPORT: Funds provided for endowment purposes, buildings, construction, or equipment CHARITABLE REMAINDER TRUST: A gift plan that provides income to one or more beneficiaries for their lifetimes, a fixed term of not more than 20 years, or a combination of the two, with a specified organization receiving the remainder at death of final beneficiary. COMMUNITY FOUNDATION: A tax-exempt, nonprofit, autonomous, publicly supported, philanthropic institution composed primarily of permanent funds established by many separate donors of the long- term diverse, charitable benefit of the residents of a defined geographic area. CORPORATE GIVING PROGRAM: A grant-making program established and administered within a for- profit corporation. -
