Publicado por: Juventud Rebelde Un fuerte compromiso tiene ante sí el Gran Maestro (GM) cubano Leinier Domínguez (2730), quien participa desde hoy en la fuerte Liga Rusa de Clubes de Ajedrez. Este torneo, pactado a siete rondas por el sistema suizo, le brinda la oportunidad de topar con varios de los mejores trebejistas del mundo, algo que siempre viene bien. Además, se trata de una competencia por equipos con ritmo parecido al que tendrá la Olimpiada Mundial de agosto próximo en Turquía. En la Liga Rusa se inscribieron 20 selecciones, integradas por ocho jugadores, aunque solo jugarán seis en cada ronda. Leinier aparece en el San Petersburgo, precisamente uno de los más fuertes. Sus compañeros de batería serán el armenio Sergei Movsesian (2702), el ucraniano Zahar Efimenko (2695) y cinco rusos: Peter Svidler (2744), Nikita Vitiugov (2709), Vadim Zvjaginsev (2683), Ildar Khairullin (2626) y Maxim Matlakov (2632). Otra nómina de lujo presentará el equipo SHSM-64, actual campeón, con el italiano Fabiano Caruana (2767), el chino Wang Hao (2733), el húngaro Peter Leko (2720), el holandés Anish Giri (2717), y los rusos Alexander Ryazantsev (2710), Boris Grachev (2705), Vladimir Potkin (2669) y Evgeny Najer (2640). También será candidato al cetro el conjunto Tomsk-400, donde aparecen los ucranianos Ruslan Ponomariov (2727) y Alexander Areshchenko (2688), el moldavo Viktor Bologan (2687) y los rusos Serguey Karjakin (2766), Alexander Motylev (2683), Ernesto Inarkiev (2695), Denis Khismatullin (2656) e Igor Kurnosov (2657). A priori, las otras dos nóminas de más calibre las tienen UGRA y Economist. En el primer equipo figuran Alexey Shirov (2701), Dmitry Jakovenko (2729), Vladimir Malakhov (2705), Serguey Rublevsky (2686), Alexey Dreev (2698), Anton Korobov (2679), Alexey Pridorozhni (2524) y Nikolai Kabanov (2502). Mientras, en el segundo se inscribieron Alexander Morozevich (2765), Evgeny Tomashevsky (2736), Ian Nepomniachtchi (2718), Alexander Moiseenko (2706), Pavel Eljanov (2704), Dmitry Andreikin (2689), Evgeny Alekseev (2673) y Michael Roiz (2652). Leinier arrancará en el tercer tablero, aunque quizá juegue algún match en el segundo e incluso en el primero. Como es un torneo por el sistema suizo, los rivales del cubano en las dos rondas iniciales no deben ser tan complicados, pero a partir de la tercera fecha sí pueden aparecer varios «monstruos» por el camino. Por cierto, varios de estos jugadores vienen del campeonato europeo, celebrado en Plovdiv, Bulgaria, entre el 20 y el 31 de marzo. Allí salió campeón el ruso Dmitry Jakovenko (2729), quien derrotó en la última fecha al francés Laurent Fressinet (2693), líder hasta entonces y finalmente segundo. El principal aspirante según el Elo era el italiano Fabiano Caruana (2767), pero terminó en el lugar 38. En cambio, el segundo favorito, el azerbaijano Shakhriyar Mamedyarov (2752), se retiró del torneo por perder dos partidas sin jugar. ¿Qué les parece? Primero, Mamedyarov fue declarado perdedor en la octava ronda debido a la regla de «tolerancia cero» ante los jugadores que llegan tarde a las partidas. Luego, en la novena fecha, firmó tablas en 19 movimientos con el campeón de España, Alvar Alonso Rosell (2513), y eso no estaba permitido, según la «Regla de Sofía». Esta regla estipula que no pueden acordarse las tablas antes de haber realizado 40 movimientos. Además, en todo caso siempre debe consultarse al árbitro. En el propio campeonato europeo, el armenio Vladimir Akopian (2684) y el ruso Vladimir Malakhov (2705) hicieron tablas en solo 16 movimientos, pero sí consultaron al árbitro antes de firmar las planillas. Por ello se les respetó la puntuación. En caso contrario, Malakhov no hubiera podido alzarse con la medalla de bronce. Traigo las anécdotas porque en otras ocasiones he propuesto aplicar tanto la «tolerancia cero» como la «Regla de Sofía» en los torneos cubanos. Sin embargo, hasta el momento esto sigue teniendo más detractores que defensores. Por cierto, dentro de un mes, exactamente del 3 al 15 de mayo, tendremos en La Habana el Memorial Capablanca y esta vez el grupo Élite contará con la presencia de los rusos Ian Nepomniachtchi (2718) y Vladimir Potkin (2669), quienes compiten ahora junto a Leinier en la Liga de Clubes en su país. Además, debutará el checo Viktor Laznicka (2702) y regresará el genio ucraniano Vassily Ivanchuk (2764), quien hasta ahora ha venido cinco veces y siempre se fue con la corona. Veremos cómo llega Leinier tras su paso por la Liga Rusa de Clubes y cómo se presenta el GM tunero Lázaro Bruzón (2694), quien para ese entonces debe haber superado oficialmente la barrera de los 2700 puntos Elo. Antes, Bruzón competirá en el Campeonato Iberoamericano de Ajedrez, previsto del 13 al 23 de abril en Quito, Ecuador. Allí serán 24 los participantes y habrá una primera etapa eliminatoria con cuatro grupos de seis jugadores. Los ganadores de cada llave, más los dos mejores segundos lugares, disputarán después una segunda fase por el mismo sistema de «todos contra todos». Bruzón ya ganó el Campeonato Iberoamericano en 2006, cuando se efectuó la primera edición. Actualmente, el tunero participa en la División de Honor del Campeonato de Clubes de Ajedrez de Cataluña, en España, donde acumula 7,5 puntos en ocho presentaciones. Con esa actuación ha ganado 17 puntos para su Elo, los cuales se harán efectivos a partir de mayo. Después del Capablanca, tanto Leinier como Bruzón competirán en la gran final del Campeonato Nacional, con sede en los Jardines del Rey. Allí estarán también el GM villaclareño Yuniesky Quesada (2625), actual monarca, y el GM holguinero Isan Ortiz (2561), ganador de la fase anterior. El evento debe ser una «liguilla» a doble vuelta, aunque todavía no se han divulgado los detalles. Quizá haya también un match posterior entre los dos primeros para definir al campeón. De momento, lo cierto es que apareció la fórmula para tener a Leinier y Bruzón peleando de nuevo por el título de Cuba sin «sacrificar» su Elo. Al menos eso ya merece un aplauso. Duelo Kramnik-Aronian Entre el 21 y el 28 del presente mes tendrá lugar un acontecimiento ajedrecístico singular, el Zurich Chess Challenge, que pondrá frente a frente al armenio Levon Aronian (2820) y al ruso Vladimir Kramnik (2801), números dos y tres del escalafón universal. Se trata del primer duelo de la historia entre dos jugadores con valoraciones Elo superiores a 2800 puntos. Incluso, el promedio de ambos supera al del publicitado match por el título mundial entre el indio Vishy Anand (2799) y el israelí Boris Gelfand (2727), previsto del 10 al 31 de mayo en Moscú. El duelo entre Kramnik y Aronian fue pactado a seis rondas, con dos días de descanso intermedio (23 y 26). El tiempo de juego será de 40 movimientos en dos horas, otras 20 jugadas en una hora, y 15 minutos, más 30 segundos de incremento por cada movida, para el resto de la partida. Recordemos que Aronian ganó el Grand Slam de Wijk aan Zee, Holanda, durante el pasado mes de enero. En fin, se avecinan días felices para los amantes del juego ciencia. In Biel, he will not only be the senior player of the Grandmaster tournament, but also the top ranked and the Festival’s most loyal participant. Since his first appearance in 1993, he has come seven times to Biel; it is precisely at this Festival that he earned one of his greatest victories: in 1993, he finished first in the Interzonal Tournament (which, by then, was the only qualifying competition for the world championship), out of 73 participating grandmasters (including Anand and Kramnik). His victory in Biel against Anand is mentioned in his book, My Most Memorable Games.

Elle compte aurd’hui plus de 7 900 affiliés dont la grande majoritée sont des jeunes de moins de 16 ans. Il y a en Corse 45 000 jeunes de 6 à 21 ans qui savent jouer aux échecs. La Ligue Corse est engagée dans une démarche moderne qui s'appuie sur les vertus socio-éducatives des Échecs. Elle est pour un élargissement considérable de la base de la pyramide échiquéenne.

El evento reunió a nueve de las diez primeras selecciones del ranking universal y solo faltó Francia (número tres del escalafón), cuyo lugar fue ocupado por Egipto (45). Con un remate de cuatro victorias en las últimas cuatro rondas, China ocupó el segundo lugar con 13 unidades, seguida por Ucrania (12). Así se completó el podio. Mientras, el favorito equipo de Rusia cayó a la cuarta plaza con diez puntos, tras su derrota final frente a la escuadra india (perdieron Nepomniachtchi y Svidler). Hungría y Estados Unidos se ubicaron a continuación con el mismo acumulado. Después finalizaron Azerbaiján (nueve rayas), India (7), Israel (5) y Egipto (0), por ese orden. Individualmente, el Gran Maestro chino Wang Hao (2718) se llevó la medalla de oro en el primer tablero y su compatriota Wang Yue (2709) reinó en el segundo. Los restantes premios fueron para el ruso Ian Nepomniachtchi (2711) en la tercera mesa y el ucraniano Alexander Areshchenko (2682) en la cuarta.
