Read Ebook {PDF EPUB} She- Hunt for the Intelligencia by Harrison Wilcox She-Hulks Vol 1 4. While trying to capture the Mad Thinker and Klaw, the two She-Hulks are caught in an avalanche when Klaw released a massive sonic burst. The manage to dig themselves and the Mad Thinker out of the snow. They are about to put him aboard the Gamma Jet and look for Klaw when he suddenly bursts out of the snow astride of Byte, the sonic-powered Gammaroid created by the Thinker. He is furious that the two women ruined his chance of being returned to normal. Lyra leaps up onto Byte and shoves Klaw's sonic blaster into the android's maw, causing sufficient feedback to cause the android to blow up. After taking the Mad Thinker and Klaw to Gamma Base, the two She-Hulks return to their condo. There, Lyra takes a bubble bath and she talks about the troubles she is having balancing her life as a with the new civilian life she had adopted. Jennifer tells her that protecting those you care about is a sacrifice that is needed to be made when you are a Hulk. She then tells Lyra that they both need to get ready as She-Hulk has a date with Wyatt Wingfoot while Lyra has to go to her school formal dance. Meanwhile, at Gamma Base, the Hulk goes down to the holding cells where the final members of the Intelligencia that has been captured. The Wizard scoffs at the Hulk, telling him that if he was Banner more often he'd have realized that he developed a method of escape. The Hulk reminds him that his cell is unbreakable, but the Wizard still insists that he can escape. Having been able to cobble together anti-gravity tech, the Wizard surprises the Hulk by making the entire cell lift up and rocket out of the holding area. At that moment, Jennifer is having a drink with Wyatt Wingfoot on the balcony on her condo. As the two begin to get romantic, she receives a call from the Hulk. Instead of answering it, she drops her communicator into a glass of champaign. Meanwhile, Lyra arrives at Midtown High School with Amelia Hopkins for the dance. No sooner have they arrived does Jake Constantine snatches her up for a dance. As the two begin to dance, Jake explains that the lights are down low to encourage kissing. As the two work themselves up to that moment, Amelia watches from the sidelines in tears. When he friends ask if she is okay with this, Amelia says she won't get in the way of true love. However, just as the two start to kiss, Jake is blasted in the back by the Wizard who has arrived to get revenge against Lyra for his capture. Lyra transforms into her Hulk form to battle the Wizard. However, he easily overpowers her and is about to land a killing blow when She-Hulk arrives and ambushes the Wizard. She-Hulk easily trounces the Wizard, telling him that he had no right to attack Lyra as his beef was with her. In the aftermath of the battle, Lyra's classmates blame her for what happened and call her a freak. When the girls ask Amelia if she knew that Lyra was a Hulk, she tearfully denies it. She-Hulk tells them that they have to go. Leaving out the back door, She-Hulk denies Lyra's request to say goodbye and see if Jake is okay. She tells her that part of being the Hulk is to protect the people they care about, and that includes walking away from them. After dumping her dress in a nearby garbage pail, She-Hulk and Lyra head home. Solicit Synopsis. The SHE-HULKS—EXPOSED. The secret is out that Lyra Walters is actually none other than the All-New Savage She-Hulk, and the last remaining mad genius from THE INTELLIGENCIA is poised to make her PAY! Can the young She-Hulk save the dance for her fellow students, even with the help of her smashing green cousin? Or will this be her last dance in more ways than one? Find out as MAN HUNT comes to an explosive conclusion! Wilcox Teams Up "She-Hulks" After making his name for not killing Jen Walters in "World War Hulks," writer Harrison Wilcox takes to smashing the Marvel U on a monthly basis with artist Ryan Stegman on the bounty hunting team-up title "She-Hulks." It should come as no surprise to readers of that the company's superhero universe has seen some gamma-powered growth in the Hulk department over the last few years. Aside from the now ubiquitous Red Hulk, the life of Bruce Banner is full of sons, wives and best friends, all busting out of their previous roles into new lives as unstoppable goliaths. But on the other side of the family, the original "plus one" to the Hulk's world is alive and kicking as Jen "She-Hulk" Walters is on the cusp of spinning out into her latest ongoing series along with Lyra - the alternate future daughter of Bruce Banner stuck in the present. Together, the green- skinned gals of the Marvel U will hunt after the escaped members of The Intelligencia -Â the cabal of super genius villains behind the recent "World War Hulks" event -Â in the November 3-debuting "She-Hulks" by Harrison Wilcox and Ryan Stegman. Already known to Hulk fans for their back-up features during the last big Hulk event, Wilcox and Stegman made a name for themselves for supposedly killing Walters before it came to light that the victim was in fact a Life Model Decoy. Talking with CBR News about this new series, the writer explained that he's ready to show fans how strong both She-Hulks can be, how their teacher-student relationship will come with some wrinkles and how this new series and story will mesh with the ongoing events of "Incredible Hulks." CBR News: Everyone knows you and Ryan got to put together a run of shorts featuring Red She-Hulk during the "World War Hulks" event. How did that role morph into an ongoing gig? Harrison Wilcox: Ryan and I had a lot of fun working together on that story. We wanted to keep working together and after he drew "She-Hulk" in the first part of that run, I knew we could do a great She-Hulk book together. I had a pitch for a and talked a lot with Loeb, who was a huge help. From there it went to [editors] Mark [Paniccia] and Jordan [White] who helped develop it, and eventually it got to Pak. It seemed to work with his plans and acted as a nice post-World War Hulks piece, so the project was approved. The series seems to have a sort of built-in launching pad with the escaped members of the Intelligencia on the prowl. To catch readers up, where were those villains last seen and where do we pick up on them as "She-Hulks" opens? After "Fall Of The Hulks" and "World War Hulks," the remaining villains have gone to ground. The Intelligenica was sort of their grand plan, their chance to combine all their strengths and assets and powers into one unified force. This was bigger than just The Frightful Four. It was really their best chance for success. In the end they failed miserably, and some more than others suffered serious losses. So really, at this point, the villains are just trying to stay off the radar, lick their wounds and rebuild their lives. Bringing the ladies into the picture, how do the She-Hulks get tapped as bounty hunters on this particular mission? If you read "She-Hulks" and "Incredible Hulks," you'll get a better idea of what brought all the players to the table. You've got two characters here, each with their own unique abilities and histories. Taking each in their own turn, let's start with Jen. When you "killed" She-Hulk in your first run of Hulk stories, you took a little heat from concerned fans. How do you view this gig and this character in light of all that? I view this as redemption! Seriously, though, from what I saw, most of the fans took it in stride. They knew there was going to be an explanation down the road and appreciated the ride. And technically, I didn't get to interact with She-Hulk at all in that arc. She was either a LMD or in a stasis tube the whole time. That said, Jen has had a few different ongoing series over the years that have each had their own feel and flavor, from John Byrne's "Sensational" to 's eponymous series. With both of those in mind, there's been a lot of tongue-in-cheek, self-referential Shulkie stories over the years. How does "She-Hulks" fit into that tradition? All those runs really shaped a strong character and make my job a lot easier. Going into this book, I wanted to make sure we could tell different types of stories every arc. High adventure one arc, tongue-in cheek the next. I think Jen is one of the most versatile characters at Marvel. She can jump into a team book like the or The Avengers, or go off on some street level adventure, or end up in all sorts of wild places all on her own. In a more character-specific sense, Jen's been through an awful lot the past few years, from her capture and confinement during the last event to a few changes in job title. Where is she at emotionally as this series begins? She's been through the wringer, and some of those feelings definitely help motivate her actions. But at the end of the day, she's a strong woman and a strong hero. She's going to fight through what's happened and be able to stand on her own emotionally. Speaking of ladies who have seen some changes in their lives, we've got Lyra kicking it in this series as well. For such a new character, the younger She-Hulk has had a lot of tumultuous times and character development already. What's her personal outlook and goals for her life in the Marvel U as she steps into the book? Lyra's being thrust not only into Marvel U but also into "normal" teenage life. School, classes, boys, clothing. It's all very different from where she came from, so she's going to spend a lot of time making mistakes and playing catch up. But she's a warrior at the same time and understands the mission. Being in battle is her comfort zone. Jen has always been a more light-hearted take on the Hulk idea and that Lyra literally has to keep her anger in check to remain powerful. How do these two get along, and how easy is the transition to a teacher-student relationship? Reluctant parenting and indignant ignorance is how I would describe their relationship when we start in issue #1. Back to the villains, we're looking at Klaw, Mad Thinker, Red Ghost, Trapster and Wizard -Â a kind of hilariously awesome group of old school villains if there ever was one. Has any one of those guys grown into a favorite for you to write? I don't know if I have a favorite. Once you start understanding their motivations, understanding how they're still real people beneath the wacky names and costumes, you end up really having fun getting them into trouble. We know that the villain hunt will encompass the first arc of the book. With the chase 'em down thread developing, what's been your favorite sequence or scene to write so far? Honestly, every time I think I have a favorite sequence, Ryan Stegman sends me a new page and that then becomes my new favorite. Sometimes I'm really looking forward to one page, and he'll send me another that I wasn't as excited for but he'll have done something really special with it. As you noted, the series also marks the continued collaboration of you and Ryan Stegman. How has having the same artist through your Hulk work helped you as a writer on "She-Hulks"? I love working with Ryan and I'm so grateful that we had the chance to work together before "She-Hulks." It gave us the chance to get to know each other creatively so that when Panic gave us "She-Hulks," I knew I could trust Ryan to do a great job telling our story. He really cares about the product and wants to get things just perfect. Even before I started writing, Ryan and I talked a lot about character concepts and designs. We had a lot of great ideas, some of which you'll get to see in this first arc. Even If the She-Hulk fans don't like the words, I know they'll love the art. She-Hulks #2. She-Hulks story continues, as Jen and Lyra hunt for the remaining members of the intelligencia. Having already captured the wizard, Jen and Lyra will travel to Russia to find Red Ghost and the Super-Apes! Will the two Gamma-Girls defeat the super altered apes? Written by Harrison Wilcox and artwork by Ryan Stegman with colors by Guru Efx. The Good. The Clothes Ripping. still is weird how it rips in a special way. To read She-Hulks you really don't need to know great detail about what the Incredible Hulks are doing currently. You can jump into this series, without having to worry about story arcs that tie-in with She-Hulks and also knowing who the characters are. While it does help answers some simple questions, basically this should be a hulk book bought by all. That is probably why She-Hulks is so enjoyable and good with story material. Wilcox continues to keep things fun, with Lyra having problems in High School. She having really, no idea, on rules in school makes this funny and the artwork is really nice by Stegman and colors by Guru Efx. Lyra in human form, body is slower than her hulk form. So things get messy when she hulks out in the locker room alone. This plays out well, when a girl from school, Amelia, wants to terrorize Lyra and finds out her secret. The comic gets better and better as this is only issue two, I like how the rating is "T" even though this seems more like a kid comic. However, some dialogue between Lyra and Jen say different. The artwork also shows that this isn't a children's comic, which is totally fine with me. I think a She- Hulks comic should have that rating because of how the She-Hulks character are like. The Bad. Red Ghost and his Super Apes is probably one of those villains that no one really knows about. However placed in a story like this, he can actually be a threat. Honestly, I really don't care for that bad guy he was a threat to the Fantastic Four and also the Hulk for sometime, but this seems really boring in his character. The Verdict. Other reviews for She-Hulks #2 - Man Hunt, Part 2. She-Hulks Issue 2. In a world full of Hulks, some of them had to be She. These are there stories. And I'll be honest, I was excited. She-Hulks is currently on top of my Hulks list. Not because it's necessarily the best, but just because it's fun and accessible. You don't need to know a whole lot to jump into this and honestly the recap page'll tell you all you need, so why not dive into She-Hulks issue 2? This issue opens with Jen questioning Wizard, having captured him last issue. It seems he'll talk, but only. Interview: Harrison Wilcox and Ryan Stegman on SHE-HULKS. Today sees the long-awaited-by-me debut of She-Hulks by writer Harrison Wilcox and artist Ryan Stegman. From the little I've seen, it is already obvious that it's only a matter of time before everyone on this team is a sequential art superstar, but in the meantime they sat patiently and humored me while I peppered them with questions about Hulk history. iFanboy: According to the publicity we've seen so far, She-Hulks spins out of recent events in the Hulk books, with Jen Walters and Lyra tracking escaped members of the Intelligencia in the aftermath of World War Hulks. Is the pursuit of the Intelligencia simply the first of (hopefully) many arcs, or do you plan for it to be the long-term plot that drives the book for the foreseeable future, like Richard Kimball's hunt for the one-armed man in The Fugitive? Harrison Wilcox: It's not the tone of book, just the first arc. We wanted to do something where each issue could stand on it's own. Really you could spend six issues on each of the first four. Each villain could have an entire arc, but we wanted to compress the story, get to the action fast, and keep moving forward as fast as possible. iF: Jennifer Walters has lived many lives in the Marvel universe. Besides her obvious role in the Hulk family of books, she has also been an Avenger and a member of the Fantastic Four. At this point, all she needs is a spider bite and a secondary mutation and her Marvel Bingo card is complete. Will any of these past lives be coming into play in her new book? Will she be calling in any favors with Reed Richards in her pursuit of the Red Ghost, or will she and Lyra be more or less on their own? HW: This is very much a story ingrained in the Marvel Universe. This first arc is about the two leads, seeing how they interact with one another as both women and super-heroes and building out into the universe from there. You don't need to have ever read a Hulk story to be able to pick up this book and have fun. Ryan Stegman: To answer the second part of your question: The She-Hulks work more or less on their own. All I'm sayin' is…I've not drawn Reed Richards in this book . YET! iF: Along those same lines, can we expect any visits from the supporting characters from She-Hulk's other recent books? Will any of her old law partners or romantic interests be popping by, or has she left that part of her life behind her for the time being? HW: There will be at least one appearance of a character from She-Hulk's past. iF: Generally, Hulk books are about two things: the deep psychological duality between inner and outer self, and smashy smashy pow pow. How much time in the spotlight will each of these elements get in She-Hulks? Will many panels be devoted to "weak Lyra" and Jennifer Walters, Attorney at Law, or will it be all green, all the time? HW: If the book was called "Jen and Lyra" instead of "She-Hulks" we'd probably have trouble selling copies. But the characters do get more human face time than I think people are used to in a She-Hulk book. Part of the theme of the first arc is learning how to live a "civilian" life while still being a superhero. There's a lot of interesting character moments that come out of that and that will impact all of the smashy smash smash. RS: My favorite part of drawing this book so far has been the quieter character moments that I've been allowed to draw. Drawing Hulk smash action is great, but there is something extra fun to me about the moments when the characters are revealing more of themselves than just the tough exterior. And this is in large part because Harrison REALLY gave these characters a lot of personality. iF: Of course, as part of the Red Hulk Saga, She-Hulk was believed to be dead for a year or so (although I can't remember her being mourned or even mentioned by her closest friends during that time). Do you plan on addressing that part of her story at all in the pages of She-Hulks? HW: It doesn't come up directly, but that is definitely part of the subtext of the character. This is a superhero who disappeared for a long time due to the Intelligencia, and to her it seems like nobody tried to save her or even cared she wasn't around. And really that's a common theme with superhero deaths and disappearances. They're very quickly forgotten sometimes. But Jen isn't the kind of person who is going to sit around and feel bad for herself. She's going to channel those feelings and use them to make sure that never happens again to her or to anyone she cares about. It's a big reason why she wants to round up the rest of the Intelligencia. iF: In addition to spending time in every corner of the Marvel universe, She-Hulk has had books that tried on just about every tone over the years. She started out as a straight-ahead rampaging monster in the classic Hulk mode before spending many years in winking, fourth-wall-breaking books. Most recently, she was even in the hands of Hulk Peter David for a while. How would you describe the tone of She-Hulks given all that has come before? HW: Fun Marvel action adventure that any and all types will enjoy. Thanks to the artwork by Ryan, this is an incredibly accessible book. If you want to have a good time reading a book, this is it. If you've never read a comic book before or know someone who's never read a comic before, this is it. RS: I read the final PDF of issue one and I was really pleased because the tone weaved around quite a bit. There were very light moments and then some heavier moments. And it all worked. iF: What about Lyra? Marvel readers have certainly seen the "hero out of time" scenario play out before, but this time we have a hero from the future living in her ancient past. Will her knowledge of half-remembered history be a help or a hindrance? How much will this be touched upon, if at all? HW: Things are so drastically different here that Lyra will be spending most of her time trying to fit in and kick butt. It's a very overwhelming experience and she doesn't have time to think about anything except the next fist flying her way. iF: What will the dynamic be like between Jen and Lyra? Is it mentor/student, big/little sister, peer/peer, none of the above…? HW: While Jen is technically Lyra's aunt, she plays more like a big sister to Lyra. iF: Ryan Stegman, you have recently grown into one of my favorite "new" artists, with a fun-loving style that straddles the line between real and cartoony in all the right ways. What attracted you to this project? What sort of thing do you hope to be drawing as the book progresses? RS: First of all, THANKS! As for what attracted me to this project: I had been drawing Red She-Hulk backup stories and I was really sucked into the world of the Hulk. I can't say that I had been keeping up with it before that, but as soon as I got in there I realized there was a LOT of cool stuff going on. And I had really enjoyed drawing Red She-Hulk, and I even got to draw Jen if only on a few pages. But I knew from that moment that these characters would be a blast to work on. Harrison and I also worked together on the Red She-Hulk stuff together so I KNEW that working with him would be great. We immediately hit it off and he wrote stuff that I wanted to draw and it was a blast. So all that put together really got me excited for this project. As the book progresses, I just want to draw whatever is required of me! Everything that's been put in the book so far has been so much fun, that I just trust that it will continue to be. iF: As a devoted fan of Captain Britain, Doctor Voodoo, and S.W.O.R.D., I am embittered and hard-hearted when it comes to new Marvel books. I've just been hurt so many times before. What is the one thing you would say to me to get me to open my heart/wallet and give She-Hulks a chance? HW: Because the artwork for this book is phenomenal. And in two years when Ryan Stegman is famous, you'll be able to sell it on ebay for a lot of money and make back all you spent on comics. RS: Well, if you like reading good fun comics with awesome characters then read this book. If you prefer lame comics that have lame characters, this isn't going to be your cup of tea. She-Hulks #1 is out this Wednesday. Won't you go and pull it? She-Hulks Vol 1 1. She is not impressed with this part of her integration, but Jennifer insists that it is in her best interest. When the school bell, Jen has her go over her cover story one more time and warns her to keep her powers a secret before sending her on her way. Lyra assures her that she knows how to blend in. After she and her friends make fun of her while she is out of earshot, but pretend to be Lyra's friend when she asks where she can find her homeroom. Meanwhile, Jennifer Walters arrives at her new condo while talking to Bruce. He has no leads on where the Wizard might be. When Jen sees the size of the condo that she is going to be living in, Bruce tells her that he figured she needed an upgrade from the trailer park. The place brings her to tears. She immediately takes advantage of the amenities believing that she needs to enjoy it after all of her recent trials and tribulations. While at Midtown High, Lyra eats lunch. While she is criticized from afar by Amelia and her friends, two boys from the football team try to convince her to come to their party after the big game and have some "fun". She tells the two jocks that they should fight to the death to prove who is worthy to mate with her. She then gets up and sits at another table and makes fast friends with Jake Constantine. This gets the attention of Amelia who is instantly jealous that he is paying attention to the new girl.
