ATKINS FUNCTIONAL FITNESS FACILITY Michelle Winter, 315-772-3342 Functional fitness exercises are designed to train and develop your muscles to make it easier and safer to perform everyday activities. Functional fitness focuses on strength, agility, stamina, and speed. Functional fitness builds a body capable of doing real-life activities in real-life positions. Functional fitness exercises train your muscles to work together and prepares them for daily tasks by simulating common movements you might do at home, at work, in sport, or on the battlefield. While using various muscles in the upper and lower body at the same time, functional fitness exercises also emphasize core stability. Personal trainers are available to give you a one-on-one personalized functional fitness workout plan. Get your 24/7 access card today! Purchase your access card for only $5 at Monti Physical Fitness Facility. Bring receipt to Atkins Functional Fitness Facility where the friendly staff will provide you with your own 24/7 access card. Atkins Functional Fitness Facility will be manned Monday – Friday, 6am – 8pm and Saturday, 8am-4pm. All other times use your access card to gain access to the facility. All DoD ID card holders 18 years and older can purchase a 24/7 access card. A Race to the Top: Jacobs Ladder Challenge. May 1st – 31st to complete the challenge. To complete the challenge, patrons will have to cumulatively climb 29,035 feet on the Jacobs Ladder machine – the same distance as summiting Mount Everest. The facility will have a spreadsheet for patrons to log their miles. The patron who logs the most feet climbed will win a prize. Open to all DoD ID cardholders 18 years and older. BOSS Invades Atkins: Wednesday, May 19th, 10 am. Highly competitive challenge seeking the best time in an obstacle course. Prizes for first – third place winners, male / female. Open to all DoD ID cardholders 18 years and older. 2 Don’t Touch The Lava: Friday, May 14th, 10 am. Individuals compete to navigate rooms flooded with lava by leaping from jump boxes, hanging from the Alpha Warrior Rig to swinging from ropes. If you fall into the lava you will be disqualified from the competition. The one who completes the course without falling into the lava with the best time wins. Prize for the first place winner. Open to all DoD ID cardholders 18 years and older. Personal Training is now available. Contact Atkins for more information. Info is available on the website. 4. AUTOMOTIVE SKILLS CENTER Michael Graveline, 315-772-5785 The Automotive Skills Center is open Tuesday – Friday, 11am – 7pm and Saturday, 8am – 4pm. Bay rentals are available by appointment only. Be sure to sign up for the required free Safety Orientation class offered Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at noon so you can use the bays, tools, equipment, and work on your vehicle. Towing services on and off post are available by calling 315-772-7902 or 315-783-5783. Visit both Car Wash locations, 10700 Enduring Freedom Dr. and 1185 First St., to wash or vacuum your vehicle! Both are open 24/7. Propane tanks can be filled at the Auto Skills Center if tanks meet the applicable safety requirements. Stage your car at the Vehicle Resale Lot next to the Automotive Skills Center where car shoppers can see your vehicle 24 hours a day. Reserve your space at the Auto Skills Center for just $10 per month. Auto Skills offers the classes listed below. All classes are $5 each and open to ages 14+. Participants must have completed the Safety Orientation Class and pre-register. Preventative Maintenance: 1st Thursday of each month Brakes: 2nd Thursday of each month The Abandoned Vehicle & NAF Property Silent Auction is Thursday – Saturday, May 20th – 22nd, 8 am – 4 pm, at the Abandoned Vehicle Lot located at Third St. E. and Lewis Ave. on South Post. There will be over 100 vehicles up for sale along with various NAF Property. Call the Automotive Skills Center with any questions. AQUATICS Jon Burnard, 315-772-9670 Pool Hours & Capacity: The pool is operating with a max capacity of 35 on a first come, first served basis Monday-Friday, 6 am-1:30 pm. Monday-Friday, 6-9 am, the pool is open for fully vaccinated patrons only. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Events: A variety of events have been prepared and will commence once it is safe to do so, and approved. April is “Easter Egg Dive,” May is “Military Spouse Appreciation,” and June is “Pool Safety.” Programs: CPR/AED/First Aid certification classes, Lifeguarding certification classes, swim lessons, a 100-mile swim club, and a Swim for Life tracking activity are all ongoing activities available for participation throughout the year. Swim lessons for Active Duty personnel begin Monday, April 19th. Please call and make an appointment with one of our instructors. BETTER OPPORTUNITIES FOR SINGLE SOLDIERS (BOSS) Pauline Beck, 315-772-7806 BOSS Car Wash: Come out and support the Fort Drum BOSS program at our first BOSS Car Wash at Enduring Freedom Car Wash and lunch on May 7th from 11 am – 1 pm. For $10 you will receive a car wash and a hotdog, chips and drink. Additional food $5 per lunch. Dave and Busters Trip: Sign up at BOSS to go to Syracuse and have some fun at Dave and Busters! Vans leave at Noon on May 8th. BOSS Financial Class: Come sign up at BOSS for our monthly financial class. May 11th, 1 pm at the BOSS Center. BOSS BBQ: Come and support BOSS on May 12th, 19th & 26th from 11 am- 1 pm. $5 for a hotdog meal and $6 for a cheeseburger meal! Facing the Board: BOSS will be holding mock board study groups on May 13th & 27th and June 10th, 6 – 9 pm to help Soldiers get ready for the Promotion Board. Air Hockey Tournament: BOSS has a new air hockey table! Come test out your skills! May 14th at 4 pm. Soccer Tournament: BOSS is holding 6 v 6 soccer tournament at Monti Gym on May 15th at Noon. Sign your team up today at the BOSS Center! BOSS Invades Atkins: Come on down to Atkins Fitness Facility for a BOSS Invades Atkins outdoor edition on May 19th at 10 am. Test your endurance and strength! BOSS5: BOSS hiking trip on May 22nd leaving at 7 am to Hadley Mountain and on May 29th at 7 am to Owls Head Mountain. In June we will be going to Cascade Mountain on June 5th at 7 am and Porter Mountain on June 12th at 7 am. Come down to BOSS to sign up and get your registration form! Gaming Tournament: Join us on May 25th at 5 pm for a COD Search and Destroy Tournament! BOSS Monthly Meeting: Join BOSS on June 1st at 3 pm at the BOSS Center for the monthly meeting where we will go over all BOSS activities and take input for future activities.
