PRESS RELEASE Rapid Antigen Testing for Employees and the General Population – Testing Units 4 April 2021 Aiming at the Contin GOVERNMENT OF CYPRUS PRESS AND INFORMATION MINISTRY OF INTERIOR OFFICE (P.I.O.) PRESS RELEASE Rapid antigen testing for employees and the general population – Testing units 4 April 2021 Aiming at the continuous surveillance of the community and the workplaces, the free programmes of rapid antigen testing of the general population and employees are in progress. For the smooth and safe operation of businesses that have been activated according to the Decrees, employers in businesses, as well as the Heads of Departments/Services in the public and wider public sector, are obliged to coordinate the rapid testing of the employees, so that the mandatory weekly testing of the personnel, through the rapid antigen test, is ensured as follows: Businesses/services employing up to 3 people, all employees should be tested. Businesses/services employing between 4 to 10 people, at least 4 employees should be tested. Businesses/services employing more than 11 people, at least 5 people or 30% of employees should be tested, whichever is higher in number. Additionally, the self-employed and the domestic employees and/or people caring for elders or disabled persons or people providing assistance to individuals who are unable to take care of themselves are obligated to participate in the program. It is recalled that all teachers and school staff without exception are required to undergo a weekly check with a rapid antigen test. The negative result certificate should be presented during the checks. Thus, employees may proceed to the testing units operating in all Districts, according to the plan designed by the employer/head. On Sunday, 4 April, the testing units will be operating as follows: Apellis St.1456 Lefkosia (Nicosia), Cyprus – Newsroom and Website Administration Section Tel: +357 22801196/7 – Fax: +357 22665043 Report of the ThinkBike workshop in Nicosia and Larnaca, Cyprus, 16 - 19 December 2013 Sponsored by: Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Nicosia Cyprus Ministry of Communication & Works City of Nicosia City of Larnaca In co-operation with Dutch Cycling Embassy Think Bike workshop 1 Introduction The Dutch Cycling Embassy was commissioned by the Embassy of the Royal Kingdom of the Netherlands in Nicosia to conduct a combined ThinkBike workshop in the cities of Nicosia and Larnaca on Cyprus from 16 to 19 December 2013. The idea of a ThinkBike workshop is that Dutch experts will discuss a local cycling-related problem with two teams of local experts and other stakeholders of cycling. The confrontation of local and Dutch approaches of the local problems at hand will generate new perceptions and potential solutions that haven't been seriously considered before. The programme typically includes a presentation about the cycling culture and related cycling-inclusive policy development in the Netherlands, an explanation of the local (in this case Cypriot) cycling policies and two parallel work sessions to discuss one local problem in each team. ThinkBike workshops are then concluded with a presentation of the generated proposals for the solution of the local problems to a wider audience. The workshop in Nicosia and Larnaca was special in so far as there was an overlap between the participants of the workshop in both cities. This is due to the fact that in Cyprus the planning and implementation of a Cycling Network, as well as legislation and ruling matters concerning cycling are set by government sectors and responsible Ministries, following the views of Local Authorities.

  • Security Council Distr.: General 4 June 2007
United Nations S/2007/328 Security Council Distr.: General 4 June 2007 Original: English Report of the Secretary-General on the United Nations Operation in Cyprus I. Introduction 1. The present report on the United Nations operation in Cyprus covers developments from 25 November 2006 to 25 May 2007, and brings up to date the record of activities carried out by the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) pursuant to Security Council resolution 186 (1964) and subsequent Council resolutions, the most recent being resolution 1728 (2006). 2. As at 30 April 2007, the strength of the military component stood at 856 all ranks and the strength of the police component stood at 64 (see annex). II. Mission of good offices and other developments 3. On 15 December, the Security Council adopted resolution 1728 (2006), by which, inter alia, it expressed full support for the process agreed upon by the Greek Cypriot leader, Tassos Papadopoulos, and the Turkish Cypriot leader, Mehmet Ali Talat, on 8 July 2006, and encouraged active participation in bicommunal discussions as described in the letter dated 15 November 2006 from the then Under-Secretary-General Ibrahim Gambari, to which both leaders had responded positively, under the auspices of my Special Representative. The Security Council called for the early completion of the preparatory phase so that a fully fledged good offices process might resume as soon as possible. At the same time, the Council regretted the continued lack of trust between the parties, which had prevented the implementation of the 8 July agreement. 4. Over the past six months, my Special Representative has continued efforts aimed at facilitating the implementation of the 8 July agreement (see S/2006/572) through intensive discussions with the two leaders and their representatives.
