Following the sad death of your Parish Clerk and my friend, Elizabeth, I have now taken up the post of Clerk/RFO to the council. I have been Clerk to St Teath Parish Council for the past six years, Clerk to Lesnewth Parish Meeting for one year, and have stood in as Acting Clerk to Camelford Town Council whilst another colleague was off sick. I live not Thank you far away, just outside Delabole, I am married to John and have one grown up daughter, I"would"like"to"say"the"biggest"thank" twin Grandsons, three cocker spaniels, and have spent the greatest part of my working life in local government.

There were concerns over the health of the pigs and the footpath had disappeared along with the signs. Mr Shute from the Piggery said that the new buildings were to replace almost derelict substandard buildings and new methods were in place to deal with slurry which should control the smell and flies. The animal welfare complies with legislation and inspection and has regular checks. Cornish Mineral Reference Manual Peter Golley and Richard Williams April 1995 First published 1995 by Endsleigh Publications in association with Cornish Hillside Publications © Endsleigh Publications 1995 ISBN 0 9519419 9 2 Endsleigh Publications Endsleigh House 50 Daniell Road Truro, Cornwall TR1 2DA England Printed in Great Britain by Short Run Press Ltd, Exeter. Introduction Cornwall's mining history stretches back 2,000 years; its mineralogy dates from comparatively recent times. In his Alphabetum Minerale (Truro, 1682) Becher wrote that he knew of no place on earth that surpassed Cornwall in the number and variety of its minerals. Hogg's 'Manual of Mineralogy' (Truro 1825) is subtitled 'in wich [sic] is shown how much Cornwall contributes to the illustration of the science', although the manual is not exclusively based on Cornish minerals. It was Garby (TRGSC, 1848) who was the first to offer a systematic list of Cornish species, with locations in his 'Catalogue of Minerals'. Garby was followed twenty-three years later by Collins' A Handbook to the Mineralogy of Cornwall and Devon' (1871; 1892 with addenda, the latter being reprinted by Bradford Barton of Truro in 1969). Collins followed this with a supplement in 1911. (JRIC Vol. xvii, pt.2.). Finally the torch was taken up by Robson in 1944 in the form of his 'Cornish Mineral Index' (TRGSC Vol. xvii), his amendments and additions were published in the same Transactions in 1952. All these sources are well known, but the next to appear is regrettably much less so. it would never the less be only just to mention Purser's 'Minerals and locations in S.W.

Written in Latin on calfskin vellum, Pengenna appears as Many of you will be familiar with Pengenna Manor as a renowned 1 wedding and events venue, but do you know about its longer history as one of the oldest homes in our parish? Pengenna started life 800 years ago during the mid-medieval period (about AD 1200) as a very modest farmstead ‘hall’: just one large, two-storey room. Animals would have been brought in to one end to keep them secure from raiders or bad weather, with the humans living and sleeping at the other end. It 2 would have had wooden shutters on timber windows (no fancy glass at this point) and an open hearth in the middle of the room, with the smoke twisting up and out through the thatched roof. Records don't exist to tell us who lived there because the house was too modest, and this was about 200 years after the famous Domesday Book’s survey of landholdings. Scroll forwards 300 years to the 1520s 'Pengennowe'. (See photos 1 and 2 and the reign of Henry VIII, and above). members of the prominent Pentyre Move forwards 50 years to the reign of family (linked with Pentire Point) are in Elizabeth I, and unknown residents residence at Pengenna.
