If you are on the mailing list for Sunday Service sheets, please print off and bring your own copy of the Readings sheet with you to services both at St Michael’s and the other churches in the United Benefice. Please remember that St Michael’s is still open every Sunday and Wednesday between 2 pm and 4.30 pm for individual prayer. Churchyard working parties are scheduled for the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month – the next one will be on July 27th . We meet at 6 pm and carry on for a couple of hours – weather permitting! Advisory Visit River Blithe, Hamstall Ridware, Staffordshire Sutton Coldfield Angling Society 2nd September, 2008 1.0 Introduction This report is the output of a site visit undertaken by Tim Jacklin of the Wild Trout Trust to the River Blithe, Staffordshire on 2nd September 2008. Comments in this report are based on observations on the day of the site visit and discussions with Don Jones and Steve Russell of Sutton Coldfield Angling Society (SCAS). Normal convention is applied throughout the report with respect to bank identification, i.e. the banks are designated left hand bank (LHB) or right hand bank (RHB) whilst looking downstream. 2.0 Fishery Overview The River Blithe rises to near Blythe Bridge near Stoke-on-Trent and flows in a south-easterly direction to join the River Trent at the hamlet of Nethertown. Near Abbots Bromley, the river flows into Blithfield reservoir (www.blithfieldeducationcentre.co.uk/reservoir.htm) operated by South Staffordshire Water. The reservoir was constructed in the early 1950s by the building of an impounding dam across the river. Flows in the Blithe downstream of the reservoir (where the SCAS water is located) rely on the release of compensation water from the reservoir at the rate of 23 Ml/d (0.27 m3 per second). SCAS have approximately 170 members, although most fish the club’s other waters leaving the Blithe very lightly fished; there are estimated to be only half a dozen trout fly fishermen in the club. SCAS operates the fishery as a mixed coarse and trout fishery, and allows any legal method of fishing that complies with Environment Agency bylaws. -

Spion Kop, Lichfield Road, Hopwas Additional Consultation responses Comments from Local Resident I am surprised that the plans are even up for review as their drive does not reach the required size limit according to the HM Government, The building Control Regulations 2020 volume 1, section B5 table 13.1 fire vehicle access minimum requirements. The Highways Agency only passed it conditionally, and their research was done on line, not actually on site, surely there should be an onsite survey done before the plans were up for final consideration. I am greatly concerned that if there is access problem for fire engine then sprinkler would possibly be needed. There is an issue if you check your archives, from the previous owners' applications, the fence between our two properties were removed to allow a fire engine to get closer, but not close enough for building regulations. Who decides whether they are prepared to sacrifice the loved ones or will it come back to yourself? You should recommend sprinkler not leave it to someone out to make a quick buck and who are prepared to kill someone. OFFICER COMMENTS Highway Authority confirmed that there was no objection to the application. The access is currently used by the applicant to access the existing dwelling on the site. This application is for a replacement dwelling on the site not a further dwelling. There is therefore no highway objections to this application. -
