The scientific interests of WSG Professor Marzena Sobczak-Michałowska revolve around family sociology, social work and social pedagogy. It is worth noting that for 17 years she has been combining the function of Dean, Vice-Rector for International Affairs with high scientific, teaching and social activity. In the course of her work, her collaboration with the Central Statistical Office, many years of cooperation with the Regional Centre of Social Policy and the function of plenipotentiary for the implementation of Educational Strategy of the City of Bydgoszcz (the task of the Department of Education at the President of the City of Bydgoszcz) are noteworthy. She often comments on important social events in the local media. She supports all initiatives aimed at discovering the causes of inequalities in access to education and developing equal opportunities of secondary school and university graduates in the labour market. For 30 years she has been teaching sociology and pedagogy at all levels of education. She has supervised several hundred graduates and provides daily advice and assistance with solving difficult interpersonal problems. In her scientific activity, she attempts to describe and present the main social problems connected with the family and the problem of poverty. She is the author of 12 books and collective works and of more than 50 scientific articles. In her research and implementation projects, she aims at improving the quality of life of the researched communities and pays attention to the issues of local and regional communities. As a social researcher, she has acted in various roles, in many projects. Below is a list of some of them:

 The Kuyavian-Pomeranian Social Economy Centre, where she served as an expert, moderator and author of texts included in guides and brochures;  She was an expert in the innovative project 'Nothing about us without us' (11.2011-12. 2013) as part of Priority 7 of the Human Capital Operational Programme.
