He was assistant Gamma Phi sponsor under Wayne Truex for 3 years. r CAMCO Now in his fifth season as head sponsor, Polacek also teaches physical education, and supervises student TYPING SERVICE teachers. 207% NORTH ST. NORMAL, ILLINOIS 102 North St. 309 Normal, 1L 61761 452-8841 This year's Max Honn Service Award winners are Jan Smith, Rolling Meadows, and Jim Jehli of Dolton. Both have been four-year members of Gamma Phi, and both hope to continue their association with the circus world following their graduation this spring. Jan, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Curt Smith, performs on the single trapeze, the tight wire, unicycles, Spanish webs and in fire eating. Her activities in Gamma Phi have included being an act cap ofanglwll tain each ofthe past three years, in addition to serving as head of the decoration committee during her sophomore year and entrance-finale chairperson this year. Jan also has introduced her own Iron Jaw act Photo on the trapeze this year. A performer with a student circus group called the Circus Kingdom last year, Jan hopes to work in one of the Merriott's Great America Parks this summer. Then, she hopes to .se,."ice6 return to the Normal-Bloomington community to teach, eventually to teach circus acts in a dance school. She said she may one day join a small circus tentatively scheduled to open in Florida.
