RECOMMEND TO COUNCIL TO APPROVE APPLICATION FOR CLASS B BEER LICENSE • HANCAN BARBERSHOP SHAWANO LLC - AGENT: HANSEL CANADY (528 MAIN STREET, UNIT B, SHAWANO, WI) • Motion to recommend approval of the Class B Beer License. Strebel/Kurkiewicz. Motion carried 2-0. RESOLUTIONS/ORDINANCES Resolution No.36-18 – Farmland Lease between City of Shawano and David and Debra Gretzinger Resolution No.37-18 – Farmland Lease between City of Shawano and Neil Straus • Motion to recommend to Council to approve Resolutions No. 36-18 and No. 37-18. Strebel/Kurkiewicz. Motion carried 2-0. Resolution No.38-18 - Motion to recommend to Council for Approval of Canada Goose Management Plan. Kurkiewicz/Strebel. Motion carried 2-0. • Plan is to use harassment techniques such as green lasers, use resources to pick up and clean waste droppings from the Parks and develope a City-wide policy to Do Not Feed the Animals. • Discussion was held regarding whether to proceed with the geese plan or not as well as the financial implications. In the end, the Committee decided to support Park/Rec Commission’s decision and to proceed with their direction. Ordinance No.1941 - Motion to recommend to Council to repeal and recreate Chapter 7, Licenses and Permits, Section 7.161, Miscellaneous license and permit restrictions. Strebel/Kurkiewicz. Motion to amend motion for Commercial property only. Strebel/Kurkiewicz. Motion carried 2-0. Resolution is to ensure all debt owed the City is paid before a building or zoning permit is issued. • Page 1 of 2 Page 3 of 36 • Discussion whether to apply this provision to all properties or just the Commercial properties. Residential property owners are a concern especially for those with a hardship. Committee decided to only address Commercial at this time. Ordinance No.1942 - Motion to recommend to Council to amend Chapter 20, General Provisions, Section 8.06(1), Curfew, Bond Schedule. Strebel/Kurkiewicz. Motion carried 2-0. • Resolution is a bond schedule for the daytime curfew ordinance which was approved several years ago. The bond schedule is the same as evening curfews. BILLS AND CLAIMS • Motion to recommend to Council approval of the March 2018 bills and claims. Strebel/Kurkiewicz. Motion carried 2-0. Motion carried 3-0. • Budget amendment was needed due to the City still being responsible for the Library's maintenance and upkeep until the time of the closing. Floyd’s Barbershop in the 1960s TV hit The Andy Griffith Show, the hilarious barbershop scene in Coming to America, the 1988 comedy starring Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall, and the 2002 movie Barbershop featuring Ice Cube and Cedric the Entertainer are all fictional depictions of barbershops that come to mind for different generations. Later this month, FOX Sports 1 lifts the curtain on the BACK OF THE SHOP, where this generation’s superstar athletes talk smack, let their opinions fly, share hilarious stories and recount tales of past glory with some very special friends and a very special barber. BACK OF THE SHOP is a weekly half-hour series featuring some of the biggest names in sports and entertainment in a relaxed, casual and, until now, private atmosphere. The new series from FOX Sports Originals and Relativity Media is filmed at Jordan Sport Barbershop, located in the Bronx within a tape measure home run of Yankee Stadium, and is loaded with conversation like you’ve never heard before. The Purpose Of This Course. We will attempt to trace the roots and the evolution of barbershop harmony from well before its actual beginnings up to the present. We will try to answer these questions: What were the tides of history which spawned the birth of the barbershop quartet, and what environment allowed this style of music to flourish? What were its musical forerunners? What are its defining characteristics? What other types of music were fostered contemporaneously, and how did they influence the growth of quartet singing? Which styles are similar, and how are they similar? How did the term "barbershop" arise? How long did the historical era of the barbershop quartet last? What other kinds of music sprang forth from it? Why did the style eventually need preservation? How was SPEBSQSA formed, and how did it become a national movement? What other organizations have joined the cause? How have they coped with the task of preservation? Are current day efforts still on course in preserving the style? How has the style changed since the Society was formed? We will spend the next few hours contemplating and attempting to answer these questions. Overtones. As barbershoppers, we are very conscious of the "ringing" effect which complements our singing. We consider it our reward for singing well- defined pitches in tune. The fact that a tone produced by a voice or an instrument is accompanied by a whole series of pitches in addition to the fundamental one which our ear most easily detects has been known for centuries.

As rock journalism evolved in the 1960s and 1970s, so did two dismissive and misogynistic stereotypes about female fans: groupies and teenyboppers (Coates, 2003). While groupies were scorned in rock circles for their perceived hypersexuality, teenyboppers, who we can consider an umbrella term including boy band fanbases, were defined by a lack of sexuality and viewed as shallow, immature and prone to hysteria, and ridiculed as hall markers of bad taste, despite being driving forces in commercial markets (Ewens, 2020; Sherman, 2020). Similarly, boy bands have been disdained for their perceived femininity and viewed as inauthentic compared to “real” artists— namely, hypermasculine male rock artists. While the boy band genre has evolved and experienced different eras, depictions of both the bands and their fans have stagnated in media, relying on these old stereotypes (Duffett, 2012). This paper aimed to investigate to what extent modern boy bands are portrayed differently from non-boy bands in music journalism through a quantitative content analysis coding articles for certain tropes and themes.
