DOI: 10.1515/ orhu-2018-0008 Abstract The author describes the presence of the oldest extinct diurnal birds of prey species in the world and fossilized representatives of different families, as well as the presence of recent species in the Car- pathian Basin among fossilized remains. In case of ospreys, one of the oldest known materials is classified as a new extinct species named Pandion pannonicus. The text is supplemented by a plate and a size chart. Keywords: birds of prey, evolution, Carpathian Basin, Osprey, eagles, buzzards, vultures, falcons, Pandion pan- nonicus sp.n. The Current Problems of Urban Development in Cluj Metropolitan Area
STUDIA UBB AMBIENTUM, LXIII, 2, 2018, pp. 5-13 (RECOMMENDED CITATION) DOI:10.24193/subbambientum.2018.2.01 THE CURRENT PROBLEMS OF URBAN DEVELOPMENT IN CLUJ METROPOLITAN AREA Nicolae BACIU1*, Gheorghe ROŞIAN1, Octavian-Liviu MUNTEAN1, Vlad MĂCICĂŞAN1, Viorel ARGHIUŞ1, Radu MIHĂIESCU1 1Babeş-Bolyai University, Faculty of Environmental Science and Engineering, 400294 Cluj-Napoca, Romania *Corresponding author: [email protected] ABSTRACT. The Cluj Metropolitan Area is located in Cluj County, the north-western development region of Romania. The strategic option of polycentric territorial development was adopted on the basis of the principles outlined in the NDP (National Development Plan)- on spatial development at regional level. This involves supporting development processes within urban growth pole. The associative structure at the Cluj Metropolitan Area (CMA) was formed at the end of 2008, continuing the efforts to establish a metropolitan area with economic specificity, initiated by Cluj County Council in 2006. Communes included in Cluj Metropolitan Area are also part of different micro-regional associations with relatively homogeneous characteristics. These associations were formed at the initiative of city halls and they have legal personality. Key words: Cluj Metropolitan Area, peri-urban refuge, urban space, rural space, development strategy. INTRODUCTION The city of the future must be an intelligent one, mostly named smart city, whose development is based on the exploitation of intellectual capital towards education/self-education, innovation and economic development among environment-friendly sectors of activity. Nicolae BACIU, Gheorghe ROŞIAN, Octavian-Liviu MUNTEAN, Vlad MĂCICĂŞAN, Viorel ARGHIUŞ, Radu MIHĂIESCU More specifically, municipal development should be based on high quality drinking water resources, appropriate waste management, improved air quality and appropriate hazard and risk management in order to maintain a clean and safe living environment. -

Învârtita Din Luna-Turda
ÎNVÂRTITA DIN LUNA-TURDA Romanian PRONUNCIATION: eun-veur-TEE-tah deen LOO-nah-TOOR-dah (eu approximately as in "fleur-de- lis") TRANSLATION: Spinning dance from the area of the towns of Luna and Turda. SOURCE: Dick Oakes learned this dance from Sunni Bloland who learned it from Costea Constantin during Sunni's research trip to Romania in 1967-68 and introduced it to folk dancers in the United States in 1969. Sunni taught the dance at the 1970 California Kolo Festival, at the 1979 Laguna Folk Dance Festival in Laguna, California, and at the 1982 San Diego State University Folk Dance Conference. BACKGROUND: The word "învârtita" comes from the verb "învârti" meaning to whirl around or to spin. This învârtita was found in the area of the towns of Luna and Turda (near Cluj in Transylvania) by Costea Costantin, a dance researcher at the Institute of Ethnography and Folklore in Bucharest (Bucureşti). Turda is situated on the Arieş River. The Turda Gorge is a natural reserve situated about 4 miles west of Turda with marked trails for scenic hikes crossing streams and bridges. In 1918, Transylvania united with Romania, and Turda with it. In 1944, the Battle of Turda took place here, between German and Hungarian forces on one side and Soviet and Romanian forces on the other. It was the largest battle fought in Transylvania during World War II. There is evidence of human settlement in the area dating to the Middle Paleolithic, some 60,000 years ago. The Potaissa salt mines were worked in the area since prehistoric times. -

DOI: 10.2478/orhu-2019-0021 Abstract Due to the number of specimen, their size and weaker flight capabilities they are one of the favorite preys of furred and feathered carnivores. Due to this factor quite a number of skeletal fragments remained and fossilized over millions of years, especially in caves. Their presence in Europe can be traced back to the Eocene, but the majority of finds come from the Neogene and the Quaternary. In the Car- pathian Basin they are known since the beginning of the Neogene. The text is complemented with the bibliogra- phy concerning the fossilized material, one figure and six table. Keywords: Europe, Carpathian Basin, evolution, Galliformes, grouses Összefoglalás Egyedszámuk, méretük, életmódjuk, és gyengébb repülési képességük következtében kedvenc prédaállataik a tollas és szőrmés ragadozóknak. Európai jelenlétüket már az eo- céntól követni lehet, de a leletek többsége a neogénből és a kvarterből származik. A Kárpát-medencéből a neo- gén elejétől ismertek. Micropaleontological Assemblages from the Upper Jurassic-Lower Cretaceous Deposits of Trascău Mountains and Their Biostratigraphic Significance
ACTA PALAEONTOLOGICA ROMANIAE V. 5 (2005), P. 27-38 MICROPALEONTOLOGICAL ASSEMBLAGES FROM THE UPPER JURASSIC-LOWER CRETACEOUS DEPOSITS OF TRASCĂU MOUNTAINS AND THEIR BIOSTRATIGRAPHIC SIGNIFICANCE Ioan I. BUCUR1 and Emanoil SĂSĂRAN1 Abstract: Upper Jurassic-Lower Cretaceous deposits from the Trascău Mountains, mainly developed in a carbonate platform facies, were investigated for their micropaleontological content in several sections, starting from Petreşti-Sănduleşti area (in the northern part) to Rîmeţi area (in the southern part). Several micropaleontological assemblages were determined corresponding to the three depositional units identified in the region: Upper Oxfordian-Lower Kimmeridgian; Kimmeridgian-Lower Tithonian, and Upper Tithonian-Berriasian-Lower Valanginian. In the Upper Oxfordian-Lower Tithonian interval the carbonate deposits are developed in a slope facies, an external platform facies (including coral-microbial reefal buildups), and less frequently in an internal platform facies. The Upper Tithonian-?Berriasian deposits are well exposed in the Cheile Turzii section, and are represented mainly by coarse granular facies. The Berriasian-Lower Valanginian deposits, represented by shallow or very shallow water facies (shallow subtidal to intertidal or supratidal) were studied in several sections (Cheile Turzii, Dealul Secului, Brădeşti) as well as in the olithosliths from Poiana Aiudului. A rich algae and foraminifera assemblages were identified in the studied deposits. They are important for both biostratigraphy (age determination
