The tragic week, Spain 1909 - Murray Bookchin Murray Bookchin's history of the "tragic week": a spontaneous workers' uprising in Catalonia, Spain, which was isolated and crushed by the government, leaving hundreds dead. The collapse of the Catalan unions after the general strike of 1902 shifted the center of conflict [between workers and employers] from the economic to the political arena. In the next few years, the workers of Barcelona were to shift their allegiances from the unions to Lerroux's Radical Party. The Radical Party was not merely a political organization; it was also a man, Alejandro Lerroux y Garcia, and an institutionalized circus for plebeians. On the surface, Lerroux was a Radical Republican in the tradition of Ruiz Zorrilla: bitterly anticlerical and an opponent of Catalan autonomy. Lerroux's tactics, like Ruiz's, centered around weaning the army and the disinherited from the monarchy to the vision of a Spanish republic. In his younger days, Lerroux may have sincerely adhered to this program. The son of an army veterinary surgeon, he became a deft journalist who could mesmerize any plebeian audience or readership. After moving from Madrid to Barcelona in 1901, Lerroux openly wooed the army officers while at the same time, in the exaltado tradition of the old Republican insurrectionaries, shopped around Europe looking for arms. Had he found them, however, he probably would never have used them. His main goal was not insurrection but the revival of the dying Republican movement with transfusions of working-class support. This he achieved with dramatic public rallies, violently demagogic oratory, and a network of more than fifty public centers in Barcelona alone. -

The background to the debate is the anti-militarist and anti-dynastic uprising which occurred in Italy in June 1914 (La Settimana Rossa) in which Malatesta was a key actor. But with the events of July and August 1914, the alliance of socialists, republicans, syndicalists and anarchists was rent asunder in Italy as elements of this coalition supported intervention on the side of the Entente and the disavowal of Italy’s treaty obligations under the Triple Alliance. Malatesta’s dispute with Kropotkin provides a focus for the anti-interventionist campaigns he fought internationally, in London and in Italy.1 This chapter will conclude by examining Malatesta’s discussions of the unintended outcomes of world war and the challenges and opportunities that the fracturing of the antebellum world posed for the international anarchist movement. -

Hacia Un Estudio Decolonial Del Anarquismo. Egipto Y Túnez
En este trabajo vamos a dibujar la historia decolonial del anarquismo en Egipto y Túnez a través del estudio comparado de los movimientos 'Asían (Desobediencia) y al-Haraka al-Ishtirakiyya al-Taharruriyya (Movimiento Libertario Socialista). El estudio de estos dos casos nos ayuda a romper con la mirada eurocéntrica del anarquismo y a situar la reemergencia de estos movimientos sociales a escala mundial en un contexto aún inexplorado como es la región sur mediterránea. Para ello vamos a realizar un estudio comparado de las historias del movimiento anarquista egipcio y tunecino con un análisis histórico, historiográfico y etnográfico que nos ayude a entender las causas de la reemergencia del anarquismo en la última década y las claves de la descolonización de estas narrativas en las costas del sur del Mediterráneo. Prihvaćeno/Accepted: 14.11.2017. Undoubtedly, the events of 18, 19 and 20 July 1936 constitute one of the most excessively interpreted historical facts in recent Catalan history. And, all the same, after eighty years we still know very little about them. The originality of the 1936 social revolution, which was structural and inherent to it, goes beyond the Spanish Civil War and its end in a forty-year long Fascist dictatorship that masked the significance of the revolutionary brunt, or even beyond the tendentious readings from both sides –including the republican sector’s internal contradictions-. It stems from an insurrection leaded by its basis, by people from across the working-class neighborhoods of the city of Barcelona. Certainly, it was the people who had nothing –nor anything to lose- who stopped the military coup, inch by inch, street by street, practically unarmed and with the only collaboration of the Generalitat de Catalunya’s assault guards. It was the people who had nothing who mainly volunteered to the militias to fight the fascism at Zaragoza. It was the people who had nothing, especially the women, who collectivized around 70% of Barcelona’s factories (electrical industry, water and gas supply companies, textile and wood industries, harbors, food industry, transport companies, or metal industry), as well as a great part of the economy of the country (trade, food distribution, barber’s shops, entertainment shows, schools, media, croplands, swimming pools, or leisure facilities...). -

Για μια ιστορία του αναρχικού αντι-ιμπεριαλισμού – Lucien Van Der Walt “Σε αυτόν τον αγώνα μόνο οι εργάτες και οι αγρότες θα φτάσουν μέχρι το τέλος” Το αναρχικό κίνημα έχει μια μακρά ιστορική παράδοση στη μάχη ενάντια στον ιμπεριαλισμό,η οποία ξεκινάει από τη δεκαετία του 1860 και συνεχίζεται μέχρι σήμερα. Από την Κούβα, στην Αίγυπτο, στην Ιρλανδία, στη Μακεδονία, στην Κορέα, στην Αλγερία και το Μαρόκο, το αναρχικό κίνημα έχει πληρώσει με αίμα την εναντίωση του στην ιμπεριαλιστική κυριαρχία και τον έλεγχο. Ωστόσο, ενώ οι αναρχικοί έχουν συμμετάσχει ενεργά σε εθνικοαπελευθερωτικούς αγώνες, παράλληλα υποστηρίζουν οτι η καταστροφή της εθνικής καταπίεσης και του ιμπεριαλισμού μπορεί να επιτευχθεί πραγματικά μόνο μέσα από την καταστροφή τόσο του καπιταλισμού όσο και του κρατισμού και τη δημιουργία μιας διεθνούς αναρχοκoμμουνιστικής κοινωνίας. Το παραπάνω δεν σημαίνει πως οι αναρχικοί δεν συμμετέχουν σε εθνικοαπελευθερωτικούς αγώνες που δεν έχουν τέτοιους στόχους. Αντ’ αυτού, οι αναρχικοί στέκονται αλληλέγγυοι με τους αντιιμπεριαλιστικούς αγώνες, αλλά επιδιώκουν να αναδιαμορφώσουν τα εθνικοαπελευθερωτικά κινήματα σε κινήματα προς την κοινωνική απελευθέρωση. Αυτά τα κινήματα θα είναι ταυτόχρονα αντικαπιταλιστικά και αντιιμπεριαλιστικά και θα βασίζονται στο διεθνισμό και όχι στον σοβινισμό, θα συνδέουν αγώνες στα ιμπεριαλιστικά κέντρα άμεσα με τους αγώνες των καταπιεσμένων περιοχών και θα πρέπει να ελέγχονται από την εργατική τάξη και την αγροτιά και να αντικατοπτρίζουν τα συμφέροντά τους. Με άλλα λόγια, είμαστε αλληλέγγυοι με τα αντιιμπεριαλιστικά κινήματα, αλλά καταδικάζουμε όσους χρησιμοποιούν τέτοια κινήματα για να προωθήσουν αντιδραστικές πολιτιστικές ατζέντες ( για παράδειγμα, αυτούς που αντιτίθενται στα δικαιώματα των γυναικών στο όνομα της κουλτούρας και του πολιτισμού τους) και πολεμάμε τις προσπάθειες των τοπικών καπιταλιστών και της μεσαίας τάξης να καρπωθούν και να χειραγωγήσουν αυτά τα κινήματα.
