Unity is targeted for midsized deployments, remote or branch offices, and cost-sensitive mixed workloads. Unity systems are designed for all-Flash, deliver the best value in the market, and are available in purpose-built (all Flash or hybrid Flash), converged deployment options (through VCE), and a software-defined virtual edition. With simplified ordering, all-inclusive software, new differentiated features, internet-enabled management, and a modern design, Unity is where powerful meets simplicity. The Dell EMC Unity™ Family consists of: • Unity (purpose built): A modern midrange storage solution, engineered from the ground- up to meet market demands for Flash, affordability and incredible simplicity. The Unity platform is available in 4 All Flash models and 4 Hybrid models. • VBLOCK (converged): Unity storage options are also available in VxBlock System 350. • UnityVSA (virtual): The Unity Virtual Storage Appliance (VSA) allows the advanced unified storage and data management features of the Unity family to be easily deployed on a VMware ESXi server, for a ‘software defined’ approach. UnityVSA is available in two editions: . Community Edition is a free downloadable 4 TB solution recommended for non- production use. Professional Edition is a licensed subscription-based offering available at capacity levels of 10 TB, 25 TB, and 50 TB. The subscription includes access to online support resources, EMC Secure Remote Services (ESRS), and on-call software- and systems-related support. All three deployment options, i.e. Unity, UnityVSA, and Unity based VBlocks, enjoy one architecture, one interface with consistent features and rich data services. Unity is Redefining Storage Simplicity and Value Unity is the only storage system that successfully meets four important storage requirements of today’s midmarket IT professionals (simple, modern, affordable, flexible). Here are some of the features and supporting statements that allows Unity to redefine midrange storage: • Simple: Simplified ordering, all-inclusive software, rack-and-stack in less than 2 minutes, customer installable, a new slick HTML5 user interface, proactive assist, and new CloudIQ internet-enabled management. • Modern: Unity is designed to support the latest dense Flash drives such as 3D TLC NAND with a Linux-based architecture, new Intel Haswell multicore processors, up to 440K IOPS, 2U dense configurations, scalable 64bit file system & file system shrink, unified snapshots & replication, Data-at-Rest-Encryption (D@RE), support for public and private cloud access, deep ecosystem integration with VMware (native VVols) and Microsoft, and much more. • Affordable: Unity delivers the best midrange Flash economics with a great entry price and overall TCO. Unity All Flash configurations start under $15K and Unity hybrid configurations start under $10K. UnityVSA allows anyone to get started for free and upgrade into the supported virtual edition, a purpose-built hybrid or all-Flash system, or into converged infrastructure. • Flexible: You can meet any storage deployment requirement with Unity from virtual to purpose-built to converged infrastructure. All deployment options support the same data unified data services (SAN/NAS and VVols) to support any workload with traditional file Dell EMC Unity™ Family Release Notes 3 New features (4.5.1.0.5.001) (file consolidation, VDI user data, home directories) as well as transactional workloads for both file and block on both all Flash and hybrid configurations (Oracle, Exchange, SQL Server, SharePoint, SAP, VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V). New features (4.5.1.0.5.001) There are no new features in this release. New features (4.5.0.0.5.096) Unity OE version convention update The Unity Operating Environment (OE) version numbering convention has changed to become more logical and streamlined. The first three fields denoting major release, minor release, and service pack release remain unchanged. A new field for “distribution type” has been added. The distribution type indicates the type of release of the OE. In previous releases, OE versions are displayed in four fields: In 4.5 and later releases, OE versions are displayed in six fields: Distribution types: • 0-3 Internal • 4 Early Access / Beta • 5 GA • 6 Special / Hot Fix UnityVSA HA with optional Tie-breaker Node (TBN) With this release, the Professional Edition of UnityVSA now offers the ability to deploy two “storage processors” on to two different nodes for high availability. Deploying UnityVSA HA allows you to deploy each node on a different ESXi server, which provides high availability. If one node goes down, the resources can be automatically failed over to the other node. This 4 Dell EMC Unity™ Family Release Notes New features (4.5.0.0.5.096) minimizes downtime, allowing VMware HA to restart the failed node on another ESXi server in the cluster. The optional TBN feature adds additional availability robustness in the event of a network failure. TBN prevents “split-brain” scenarios where data corruption could occur if all internal networks (CMI and heartbeats) in between the two SPs become isolated. Refer to the UnityVSA Installation Guide, UnityVSA FAQs, and the UnityVSA—A Detailed Review white paper for more information about these features. Download the UnityVSA HA files To download UnityVSA HA files, you must have a product support account. If you do not already have an account, go to your product support site to set one up. Use the following procedure to download UnityVSA HA files: 1. Using a web browser, go to your product support site. 2. Select Dell EMC UnityVSA Professional Edition. 3. Locate the available downloads. 4. Select each of these files and save them to your computer: UnityVSA OVA file, TBN OVA file (as necessary), and the UnityVSA HA Deployment Utility UnityVSA Support for VMware Cloud (VMC) With this release, both the Professional and Community editions of UnityVSA can be deployed to the VMware Cloud (VMC) as a single node. NFSv4-only option In previous releases, when creating a NAS server, the NFS version options included NFSv3 only, or both NFSv3 and NFSv4. If NFSv4 was selected, NFSv3 was also enabled by default. With this release, NFSv4 can be selected to enable NFSv4 only, independently of NFSv3. Quota

Android SDK is used for Android Studio. If we want to develop Google Cardboard apps with 3D models in Android Studio, we need to deal with OpenGL ES, this interface provides detailed control for power users. Given the short time frame for this class, we will focus on use of the higher level Unity interface for quick development of VR apps. However, you may choose to use this in your projects. The Unity SDK can be used to develop VR apps for Android and iOS platforms1 with Unity. For the class, we will use Android. Unity is a development platform for creating multiplatform 3D and 2D games and interactive experiences. It is designed to deal with 3D models directly and easily. In this class, Unity 5 is used as the development environment.
