Charlie Mann's 4/22 wrapped up proceedings to see a great end to the Year 12 season. Hayden McMahon’s keeping was excellent and he led well behind the stumps. Ray Bright from Cricket Victoria presented the medals to all the lads and coach Damian Shanahan. Geelong Grammar had four players from this season’s team competing; our captain Jam Sheahan (Yr11 P), Vice-Captain Hugo Bienvenu (Yr11 A), Will Noall (Yr11 FB) and Charles McCartin (Yr10 Fr). I said “yes, we would love to see you”, thinking he was still in Melbourne. ROLY IMHOFF’S GREAT EFFORT CONTINUES WITH THE OLD BOYS’ TEAMS as the Old Geelong Cricket Club fields 2 teams each week comprising past players from both Geelong Grammar School and The Geelong College. Premiership success was achieved last year. With the club being in operation for 4 years this was a wonderful reward. James Ratcliffe has taken over the reins in the 1sts and is doing a great job. Last Saturday a replay of last year’s final took place with Old Xaverians winning by 8 runs on our Main Oval in perfect conditions in a thriller. We have had quite a few GGS students helping out in both teams: Bart, Rupert Kebbell, Tyler Dodd, Henry Brayshaw, Tom Fischer, Hugh Coltman, the Saunders twins and Joel Blain who took a wicket in the 1sts on Saturday. Many of these lads have helped out for the Geelong Cricket Club as well. Charlie Dahlenberg again making runs in the 4ths, and Charlie McCartin also taking 2 wickets. • Cricket Memorabilia Society Postal Auction Closing at Noon 10
CRICKET MEMORABILIA SOCIETY POSTAL AUCTION CLOSING AT NOON 10th JULY 2020 Conditions of Postal Sale The CMS reserves the right to refuse items which are damaged or unsuitable, or we have doubts about authenticity. Reserves can be placed on lots but must be agreed with the CMS. They should reflect realistic values/expectations and not be the “highest price” expected. The CMS will take 7% of the price realised, the vendor 93% which will normally be paid no later than 6 weeks after the auction. The CMS will undertake to advertise the memorabilia for auction on its website no later than 3 weeks prior to the closing date of the auction. Bids will only be accepted from CMS members. Postal bids must be in writing or e-mail by the closing date and time shown above. Generally, no item will be sold below 10% of the lower estimate without reference to the vendor.. Thus, an item with a £10-15 estimate can be sold for £9, but not £8, without approval. The incremental scale for the acceptance of bids is as follows: £2 increments up to £20, then £20/22/25/28/30 up to £50, then £5 increments to £100 and £10 increments above that. So, if there are two postal bids at £25 and £30, the item will go to the higher bidder at £28. Should there be two identical bids, the first received will win. Bids submitted between increments will be accepted, thus a £52 bid will not be rounded either up or down. Items will be sent to successful postal bidders the week after the auction and will be sent by the cheapest rate commensurate with the value and size of the item.

The towering figure of Tony Greig. It’s 40 years since World Series Cricket changed everything, from the way the game was played to the way it was televised – the way, in fact, sport was televised. It introduced coloured apparel, lights, day-night Tests and one-dayers – the list is endless. People look back now with fondness at the WSC revolt, suggested at first by Dennis Lillee, instigated by some of the world’s best players, funded by Kerry Packer. Two of our interviewees, Clive Rice and Tony Greig, are now sadly departed, but our intrepid correspondent, CRISPIN ANDREWS, had long-ago managed to get their thoughts on the Packer revolution. He managed to track down many of the other protagonists recently. Here are their memories of one of the biggest upheavals ever witnessed in world sport.
