Important Notice Dated: 10.10.2014 Fax No. 0194-2473664 (S) 0191-2545702 (J) www.jkgad.nic.in E-mail [email protected] Government of Jammu and Kashmir General Administration Department (Establishment) Civil Secretariat, Srinagar/Jammu IMPORTANT NOTICE DATED: 10.10.2014 Subject : Short-listing of candidates for the posts of Class-IV advertised by the General Administration Department vide Notification No. 01- GAD of 2014 dated 27.06.2014. Whereas, the General Administration Department vide its Notification No.01-GAD of 2014 dated:27.06.2014 read with other Notices dated 9-07-2014 and 24-07-2014 on the subject, advertised 148 posts of Class-IV with the category-wise break-up contained in the said Notification; and Whereas, the last date for receipt of applications was fixed as 31 st July, 2014; and Whereas, upto the last date of receipt of application forms, 1,17,749 application forms were received against these posts; and Whereas , it is not possible or expedient to call all the candidates for interview; and Whereas, vide Notification No 01-GAD of 2014 dated: 27.06.2014 the following criteria for short-listing of the candidates has already been notified; i. Total points for shortlisting : 100 ii. Weightage to be given to the : 90 Marks obtained in the matriculation iii. Points to be awarded for higher : 10 Qualification (upto 10+2) Page 1 of 29 Whereas, in accordance the above criteria the following number of candidates are required to be called for interview in the ratio of 1:5 category-wise; CATEGORY OM RBA SC ST ALC OSC TOTAL POSTS 84 30 12 15 05 02 148 1:5 420 150 60 75 25 10 740 Whereas, on the basis of the said criteria and conditions of eligibility, the cut off merit has been arrived at for different categories as under:- CATEGORY OM RBA SC ST ALC OSC CUT OFF 88.66 86.14 86.32 78.94 83.98 88.66 MARKS Note: Candidates underage/overage being ineligible have not been considered. Whereas, under some categories, the cut of merit so arrived at is more than that in the OM category and, therefore, the category candidates upto the merit secured by the last Open Merit candidates are to be called over and above the ratio of 1:5 for the interview to avoid any disadvantage to the category candidates; and Whereas, some candidates figure at the cut of merit so arrived, it has been decided to call all such candidates with the uniform merit for interview to avoid any disadvantage/hardship to any candidate(s); and Whereas, on the basis of the above, 785 candidates in the ratio of 1:5 with the above stipulations are now to be called for interview; and Whereas, the list of the candidates so short-listed on the basis of above merit is contained in the Annexure ‘A’ to this Notice; and Whereas, 3% horizontal reservation for Physically Challenged Persons is to be provided under rules; and Whereas, with a view to ensuring that the horizontal reservation is provided to the Physically Challenged Persons, 20 candidates under this category are also to be called for interview which have been included in the above list; and Whereas, in case any candidate(s) who has/have applied against the posts of Class-IV so advertised vide Notification No.01-GAD of 2014 Dated:27.06.2014 and fall(s) in the above cut of merit but do(es) not Page 2 of 29 figure in the list enclosed may, alongwith documentary evidence of having applied for the post, represent to the GAD within a period of seven days from the date publication of this Notice and may also forward the representation to the address of Additional Secretary to Government, GAD (Establishment) for settlement of his claim in accordance with the rules on the following email: sc.chibber @ gmail.com The interview schedule of the short-listed candidates shall be notified separately. The candidates so short-listed are advised to keep following documents in original ready for scrutiny at the time of interview before the Interview Committee:- (i) 1. Matriculation Certificate along with Marks Card 2. 10+2 Certificate along with Marks Card 3. Date of Birth Certificate 4. Permanent Resident Certificate. 5. Category Certificate. (ii) self attested photostat copies of above certificates be also produced at the time of interview before the Interview Committee (iii) an undertaking by the candidate(s) so short-listed to the effect that information furnished by him is correct and in case of any false information, the candidate shall be personally responsible for the same and shall be liable for disqualification without any notice. Note : The shortlisting of the candidates is purely provisional and any candidate who has filled in wrong information in the application form and figures in the list so shortlisted, on the basis of such false information he/she shall be disqualified from interview process on production/verification of his/her certificates at the time of interview.     B.A. 6th Semester Unit IV Geography of Jammu and Kashmir Introduction The state of Jammu and Kashmir constitutes northern most extremity of India and is situated between 32o 17′ to 36o 58′ north latitude and 37o 26′ to 80o 30′ east longitude. It falls in the great northwestern complex of the Himalayan Ranges with marked relief variation, snow- capped summits, antecedent drainage, complex geological structure and rich temperate flora and fauna. The state is 640 km in length from north to south and 480 km from east to west. It consists of the territories of Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh and Gilgit and is divided among three Asian sovereign states of India, Pakistan and China. The total area of the State is 222,236 km2 comprising 6.93 per cent of the total area of the Indian territory including 78,114 km2 under the occupation of Pakistan and 42,685 km2 under China. The cultural landscape of the state represents a zone of convergence and diffusion of mainly three religio-cultural realms namely Muslims, Hindus and Buddhists. The population of Hindus is predominant in Jammu division, Muslims are in majority in Kashmir division while Buddhists are in majority in Ladakh division. Jammu is the winter capital while Srinagar is the summer capital of the state for a period of six months each. The state constitutes 6.76 percent share of India's total geographical area and 41.83 per cent share of Indian Himalayan Region (Nandy, et al. 2001). It ranks 6th in area and 17th in population among states and union territories of India while it is the most populated state of Indian Himalayan Region constituting 25.33 per cent of its total population.
