Since its discovery as an uncharacterized transmembrane protein in human fibroblasts, TRPA1 has become one of the most intensively studied ion channels. Its function has been linked to regulation of heat and cold perception, mechanosensitivity, hearing, inflam- mation, pain, circadian rhythms, chemoreception, and other processes. Some of these proposed functions remain controversial, while others have gathered considerable experimental support. A truly polymodal ion channel, TRPA1 is activated by various stimuli, including electrophilic chemicals, oxygen, temperature, and mechanical force, yet the molecular mechanism of TRPA1 gating remains obscure. In this review, we discuss recent advances in the understanding of TRPA1 physiology, pharmacology, and molecular function. -

Cannabinoid Receptor and Inflammation Newman Osafo1, Oduro Yeboah1, Aaron Antwi1, and George Ainooson1 1Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology September 11, 2020 Abstract The eventual discovery of endogenous cannabinoid receptors CB1 and CB2 and their endogenous ligands has generated interest with regards to finally understanding the endocannabinoid system. Its role in the normal physiology of the body and its implication in pathological states such as cardiovascular diseases, neoplasm, depression and pain have been subjects of scientific interest. In this review the authors focus on the endogenous cannabinoid pathway, the critical role of cannabinoid receptors in signaling and mediation of neurodegeneration and other inflammatory responses as well as its potential as a drug target in the amelioration of some inflammatory conditions. Though the exact role of the endocannabinoid system is not fully understood, the evidence found leans heavily towards a great potential in exploiting both its central and peripheral pathways in disease management. Cannabinoid therapy has already shown great promise in several preclinical and clinical trials. 1.0 Introduction Ethnopharmacological studies have shown the use of Cannabis sativa in traditional medicine for over a thousand years, with its widespread use promoted by its psychotropic effects (McCoy, 2016; Turcotte et al., 2016). The discovery of a receptor within human body, that is selectively activated by cannabinoids suggested the presence of at least one endogenous ligand for this receptor. This is confirmed by the discovery of two endogenously synthesized lipid mediators, 2-arachidonoyl-glycerol and arachidonoylethanolamide, which function as high-affinity ligands for a subfamily of cannabinoid receptors ubiquitously distributed in the central nervous system, known as the CB1 receptors (Turcotte et al., 2016). -

TITLE 16. CRIMES AND OFFENSES CHAPTER 13. CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES ARTICLE 1. GENERAL PROVISIONS § 16-13-1. Drug related objects (a) As used in this Code section, the term: (1) "Controlled substance" shall have the same meaning as defined in Article 2 of this chapter, relating to controlled substances. For the purposes of this Code section, the term "controlled substance" shall include marijuana as defined by paragraph (16) of Code Section 16-13-21. (2) "Dangerous drug" shall have the same meaning as defined in Article 3 of this chapter, relating to dangerous drugs. (3) "Drug related object" means any machine, instrument, tool, equipment, contrivance, or device which an average person would reasonably conclude is intended to be used for one or more of the following purposes: (A) To introduce into the human body any dangerous drug or controlled substance under circumstances in violation of the laws of this state; (B) To enhance the effect on the human body of any dangerous drug or controlled substance under circumstances in violation of the laws of this state; (C) To conceal any quantity of any dangerous drug or controlled substance under circumstances in violation of the laws of this state; or (D) To test the strength, effectiveness, or purity of any dangerous drug or controlled substance under circumstances in violation of the laws of this state. (4) "Knowingly" means having general knowledge that a machine, instrument, tool, item of equipment, contrivance, or device is a drug related object or having reasonable grounds to believe that any such object is or may, to an average person, appear to be a drug related object. -

Many meds are recommended to be stored at controlled-room temperature. However, several meds require storage in the refrigerator or freezer to ensure stability. See our toolbox, Medication Storage: Maintaining the Cold Chain, for helpful storage tips and other resources. Though most meds requiring storage at temperatures colder than room temperature should be stored in the refrigerator, expect to see a few meds require storage in the freezer. Some examples of medications requiring frozen storage conditions include: anthrax immune globulin (Anthrasil [U.S. only]), carmustine wafer (Gliadel [U.S. only]), cholera (live) vaccine (Vaxchora), dinoprostone vaginal insert (Cervidil), dinoprostone vaginal suppository (Prostin E2 [U.S.]), varicella vaccine (Varivax [U.S.]; Varivax III [Canada] can be stored in the refrigerator or freezer), zoster vaccine (Zostavax [U.S.]; Zostavax II [Canada] can be stored in the refrigerator or freezer). Use the list below to help identify medications requiring refrigerator storage and become familiar with acceptable temperature excursions from recommended storage conditions. 2010 NAMCS MICRO-DATA FILE DOCUMENTATION PAGE 1 ABSTRACT This material provides documentation for users of the 2010 National Ambulatory Medical Care Survey (NAMCS) public use micro-data file. NAMCS is a national probability sample survey of visits to office-based physicians conducted by the National Center for Health Statistics, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It is a component of the National Health Care Surveys which measure health care utilization across a variety of health care providers. Section I, "Description of the National Ambulatory Medical Care Survey," includes information on the scope of the survey, the sample, field activities, data collection procedures, medical coding procedures, population estimates, and sampling errors. Section II provides technical information, including a detailed description of the contents of each data record by location, and a list of physician specialties represented in the survey. Section III contains marginal data and estimates for selected items on the data record. The appendixes contain sampling errors, instructions and definitions for completing the Patient Record form, and lists of codes used in the survey.
